Have you always been interested in making art, but have been too intimidated or overwhelmed to try? Or maybe you’ve been making art for years, but are itching to take your work to the next level. Are you looking to strengthen your portfolio, perhaps for college or an artistic career? Regardless of what level you’re at, I’m ready to collaborate with you and create a lesson plan tailored to your (or your child’s) unique goals. Anyone can learn how to draw! It only takes practice, dedication, and patience.
In our lessons, we will strengthen your understanding of technical aspects like line, movement, value, composition, texture, weight, and shape language, by drawing from observation (both from life/in person and photo/video reference). Those that like drawing in a more stylized way (more cartoony than realistic) will learn how to apply their observational studies to their stylized work. Remember, even cartoons are based off of real life!
Supplies will depend on your own artistic goals

There are so many reasons to learn to draw. Perhaps you are applying for college and want to strengthen your portfolio? Maybe you changing careers and need to strengthen your visual thinking? Or you may just want to learn to draw for fun. Whatever your reason is, I can help. I have been teaching drawing for 20 years and I’ve worked with students of all ages, from young adults to retirees. There seems to be a notion out there that “one must have a talent for art before they can learn to draw. ” One thing I can say for sure is that this absolutely NOT true. With the right knowledge, a strong desire to learn, and a willingness to try, anyone can learn to draw.
I teach students how to draw from a classical studies background, but I believe in nurturing the uniqueness of each student and honoring their learning style. Unlike a classroom setting, a private lesson frees us up to build the lessons specifically around the student's goals and needs.
Do you want to learn to draw/paint or improve your work? Are you applying for college and need portfolio advice? Did you want to get back into doing art after many years without it? Are you a mid-career artist and just need some feedback and a new perspective? Are you changing careers and nee
Sharon will tailor your lesson to your goals. You do not need to be an artist to enjoy these lessons.

The best photography lighting is based on several factors, and depends on what type of look you want when it comes to your photos.
