My name is Chris and I am a professional guitar player. I have been teaching sense 2008 now and sharing the joy of music with others has become a passion of mine.
I started playing the piano at the age of five, the trumpet at nine and the guitar at thirteen. Over the years I have also learned to play the drums, bass, harmonica as well as how to sing. I studied at L.A. Music Academy as well as Musicians Institute. I am currently in two bands and putting together a third. I do session work for other artists and have played the National Anthem for a profession football team.

*** Lesson Detai
ls ***
When taking lessons from me there are many things my students can expect. First and most importantly it will be fun! Music is supposed to be fun and expressive so why make it boring and repetitive? For each student that I have I make a custom curriculum just for them based on their musical desires, strengths and weaknesses so I can help them become the best player that they can be. Each lessons will be a balance of learning new technique and theory and applying them in songs that excite and inspire.
Things such as: music theory, ear and harmony training, single string technique, sight and cord chart reading, cord structure, song writing, tone shaping, guitar maintenance and playing live will be covered with students as they advance. Feed back is always welcome and appreciated. This is your lesson, let's make sure you get the most out of it.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music Studio: Guitars, amps, mixing board, protools, computer with external stereo, seating for parents can be arranged

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can bring my own guitar and cables. But the student will need to have their own guitar, amp etc

*** Specialties ***
Blues, Rock, Metal, Jazz, Funk and Country

About Jessica
I have 20 years of playing experience along with a Bachelor's degree in Cello Performance. I was the section leader of my university's orchestra as well as a full-scholarship member of the university quartet. As a professional gigging musician, I have played with Il Divo, Mario Winans, La Jolla Symphony, Doctor's Symphony, Porta Caeli Chamber Players, and the quartet La Dolce.

I am a member of MTAC (Music Teacher's Association of California) and can sign my students up for Certificate of Merit. This is a music study program with an annual evaluation and written assessment. Stand-out stu
dents will be invited to play at the Branch Recital.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons differ slightly depending on the student. In general, it starts with scales for intonation or working on vibrato, moves on to an etude or exercise, and culminates with work on a piece of music. But not every student works well with this method, so I will add in some musical worksheets and ear training games for those that require lessons with more variety.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can come to your home to teach. I will bring all necessary method books and teaching materials.

Jessica is an awesome teacher for my 8th grader. She has an excellent lesson plan which she has catered to my daughters skill level. Jessica is flexible in helping her learn school assigned music pieces and has given her the one on one attention and tips that she was lacking with school orchestra. The online classes have been easy and convenient. I'm so glad we signed up.

This is Bekah's auntie...I am usually working on my computer in the other room when Bekah is taking online lessons. Lessons are well organized, and expectations clear. Bekah totally LOVES Jessica as her cello teacher. I played cello in my school orchestras from 4th grade through high school. I truly appreciate hearing Jessica work with Bekah. She musically encourages and challenges. We are very pleased! :)

I, myself, was a peer of Mike's at the University of Redlands. We both studied jazz guitar performance and have performed together on multiple occasions. Even so, Mike's ability as a performer far surpassed any of his colleagues'. In fact, his capabilities on the guitar were so outstanding that I decided that I would take lessons with him, in addition to regular lessons with my school instructor. To my surprise, the only thing better than listening to Mike's playing was his ability to transfer his knowledge to others.

His lessons are always conducted in a professional and friendly manner. I always left with a deeper understanding of music and as an improved player.

He is well versed in many styles and his professional experience as a musician is something to be sought after when looking for a guitar teacher. His understanding of the instrument and music theory will ensure that whatever questions you may have, he will know the answer. No matter where your skill level is, there will always be something to learn from this man.

Before I started taking lessons with Mike I was able to play the guitar but wasn't very experienced. Mike and I set a plan for myself that I would enjoy but also get me to be able to play what I wanted to play. He even helped me through some of my music classes at my college (Music Theory, Musicianship, Jazz, etc.) and taught me to apply what I was learning to the guitar. He taught me how to read music, play blues and jazz, and overall become a better musician.

He was challenging but made it overall fun and exciting. Whenever I ran into a problem he was able to break it down and figure out what I needed to do to get over it.

He is a great teacher and I am really grateful I started taking lessons with mike. I strongly recommend him; whether you have just started out and just want to learn or an experienced musician trying to get better, he will help you get there.

I am a second generation piano, clarinet and saxophone teacher. I was raised around music, and was taught piano and clarinet from a young age by my mother, a private music instructor of over 20 years. I have studied under three master clarinetists while in high school and college, and have performed with the prestigious Tacoma Youth Symphony. I have recently completed my degree in Business Management from Azusa Pacific University, and anticipate finishing my Music Performance degree next spring (having already completed all but a couple requirements).
