For young beginners, the student will be oriented to Piano through black Key pieces that explore the range of the keyboard. This is followed by the off-staff note reading which teaches the student the keyboard letter names and basic rhythms.
I am a big believer in teacher-student duets for younger kids.

When I was in college I took piano pedagogy and I learned that Playing with the beginning student is one of the best ways to improve their playing, they tend to model their playing from their teacher so that benefits alone is worth it. It does make the simple piece sounds more grown-up.

The method book that I am using is the Piano Adventures Curriculum by Faber and Faber. This method book is based on discovery, creativity, and adventures through music making. There are 4 books in each level. Lesson, Performance, Theory, and Technique.

There is also an additional supplementary book that is essential for student progress. A supplementary Library that motivates practice. The ...

I've been teaching music for 15 yrs on guitar, piano, bass, cello and bass. My students have ranged from from 5yrs to 75yrs of age. I have seen many student go on to join orchestras, bands, broadway shows or simply continued their education to a university or college. Being able to read music profeciently has given me the opportunity to teach off many method books but like to use Alfred Method, Mel Bay and Frederick Noad Method books. I teach many styles ranging from classical, jazz & blues, rock, contemporary and pop. I do stress and recommend all my students to learn how to read music and usually by our second or third lesson they will playing simple songs. I am here to help you make music!

Hi there!

We begin singing lessons with warm ups on and off the piano. I take you through breathing and all your vocal registers, warming up different parts of your voice, starting from falsetto and chest and eventually working our way into strengthening the "mix voice" (some call it "full voice").

For students that are intermediate to advanced and a bit more comfortable, I encourage them to improvise and hum over melodies as I play through different chord progressions. For this portion, I need you to stay open and non-judgmental about yourself and the melodies you create.

We often close out by working on songs. This can be a song of your choice or I can select one for you as well. I will eventually be giving you listening homework, to enhance your skill set. The FASTEST way to become better at music is to LISTEN to GREAT MUSICIANS.

To study voice takes courage because YOU are the instrument.
Confidence is a huge part of your ability to sing so expect to ...

"Ms Dora is an excellent teacher and you can see how she loves music and singing. She has such patience for the students and works hard through the evenings to study how to help every student achieve all that they can be. Ms Dora will help a student either sing a song you love to their best and play the piano to a song you have wanted to play for a long time. She taught my granddaughter both piano and singing lessons until my granddaughter moved away. I recommend for anyone wanting lessons to do it now before she gets booked."
