I teach students of all ages on all the brass instruments. With more than 30 years of teaching experience, I tailor my teaching to the individual needs of both students and parents, and I like to make our lessons fun and productive. I cover all the basics of playing, from correct breathing to correct style, and I impart a deep knowledge and appreciation of music to my students as well. I offer flexible scheduling, with sessions varying in length from 30 to 90 minutes, to help fit all budgets.

I am a passionate teacher and I work to understand each individual and help achieve the goals we set together. Ask me as many questions as you like! I love helping students understand!

As a teacher, a nurturing, encouraging, and comfortable environment can be expected for any student who chooses to pursue trumpet or piano lessons with me. I believe music lessons should be fun and reassuring for students, in addition to, providing constructive feedback for their musical development.

I have been teaching trumpet lessons now for 25 years. I have been involved in some professional playing in the past and on numerous recordings. I enjoy watching students learn and actually make progress in their playing as they listen to a teacher's advice. I focus on breathing, sound, and technique, which are the building blocks of a successful trumpet player. I do teach primarily from a classical perspective and do not perform or teach jazz playing. However, the technique I teach is helpful for all areas of playing. I would love to help you learn how to play better!

Since my graduation from the University of South Carolina, I have enjoyed a varied career in performing many genres of music around the world and in the United States. I have performed pop music while sailing around the Mediterranean Sea, toured with a Broadway show in the United States, and, recently, playing jazz in New York City. My journey has also led me to learn about the physical practice of the trumpet, which has given a totally new approach on how to instruct students in a highly personal way.

I am confident that I can contribute as your trumpet instructor because of my varied career and the skills I am able to teach. Specifically:
