About Glenn
Hi, I'm Glenn. Thank you for viewing my profile. I've been teaching students for over 20 years, playing all styles and levels of music, from day-one beginners to seasoned pros seeking to sharpen their playing skills. I teach both traditional notation and tablature, writing my own teaching methods in both formats. I can transcribe any song or solo for you, and can arrange the music to fit your particular level of skill.

I earned a B.A. in Music Composition and an A.A. in music theory, and have worked as a professional musician since graduation. I play in a variety of bands that cover rock, jazz, surf, oldies, and country, and also write and arrange music for those bands as well as writing my own music that can be heard on my own YouTube channel.

The first song I learned to play was "Pipeline." I own and play several acoustic an
d electric guitars, as well as ukuleles, mandolins, bass guitars, and lap steel guitars. I'm personable and patient, and my lessons include songs, techniques, and instruction for improving your musical skills. I look forward to meeting you and having fun learning and playing music together.

-Glenn

Glenn is very patient and has a great sense of humor. Even though I only had a 30 minute beginner class with him, he gave me plenty direction and encouragement to start. With his lesson plan, practice exercises and his guidance, I feel confident that I have the tools to master my instrument.

About Joseph
Joseph R. has 5 years of experience teaching students elementary, middle school-aged children and adults on to how to play keyboard, guitar, flute and saxophone while sharing his learning experience with them as a self-taught saxophone and flute player and his more conventional education on piano and guitar.

Joe started developing his musical talent through piano lessons at the age of 7. After only a year of formal study, he began to experiment with other instruments such as the bamboo flute, the guitar and the drums. Joe is a great instructor. He has done a fantastic job explaining concepts in an understandable way, and utilizes a lot of computer tools to help the lessons, such as backing tracks. I would definitely recommend him as a teacher.

After 20 years writing, recording and mixing mine and other people's music, I know these skills inside and out and can share valuable secrets you won't learn elsewhere.
I can help you to find a style within the technique and create your own sound while staying within the actual needs of your recording process.

About Andrew
British born and Educated at London's prestigious Trinity College of Music and The Royal Academy of Music, my professional musical career has spanned over two decades to date. I have performed with world renowned acts such as Sia, Dave Stewart and Horace Andy, and have been a featured recording artist on many of the worlds most famous film scores while myself having authored or co-authored over 30 movie scores.
A Suzuki violin student since the age of 3, I added piano, guitar, singing and composition during my teenage years. The Suzuki method encourages advanced aural development from very early on and this has turned out to be my strongest suit. With my ear, I have impressed some of the most notable orchestrators, composers, directors and producers in London, Hollywood and the world over. In fact, it was these on the spot aural magic tr
icks that allowed me to impress the Hollywood composer that first invited me to Los Angeles to work on my first blockbuster. That opportunity led to many years of success in the industry and some notoriety.
I have always had a passion for teaching, sharing my knowledge with others and watching other people take immense pleasure in their own achievements. I have been told time and time again that I have a very special gift for teaching and I would very much like to share it with you, whether you want to learn an instrument, musicianship, ear training, composition, hone your vocal or mic skills or learn how to arrange an orchestral piece in just a few hours!
I look forward to talking to you about your specific needs and goals and having the opportunity to help you realize them in a fun friendly and authentic atmosphere.

About Keira
Miss Keira is an artist development coach, residing in Los Angeles, California. She specializes in voice, piano and songwriting and focuses on helping students bridge the gap between technique and creativity, discipline and inspiration.

She began her classical piano studies at the age of four and gained over twenty years of experience in the performing arts before finishing her vocal training at Musicians Institute, the leading contemporary music school in Hollywood.

She went on to perform at some of the most prestigious and upscale venues in Los Angeles, such as The Microsoft Theater, The Beverly Hills Hotel and The Montage, Beverly Hills. Ability to successfully play on a record and working with the engineers to make sure you are getting the sound you want.

About Zach
I have been teaching trumpet, music theory, jazz harmony, jazz piano, and music composition to students of all ages since late 2008. I work very well with young, beginning students as well, and can teach all levels.

I am a touring trumpet player currently working with SAINT MOTEL, and have experiences performing and touring all over the world. In addition to excellent musical education, I apply lessons I have learned from travel that I find truly help as an educational supplement.

Working at UCLA for my degree in music performance has taught me what it takes to be a good teacher, and I am patient, understanding, and believe there's no greater feeling than watching my students flourish. I like to take the time to get to know my students, and plan lessons around their individual needs, rather than plug them into a system set in ston
e. I have a routine I do, that I will start students with, but am very open to modification based on student needs/desires.

I perform jazz professionally in Los Angeles, and have spent time touring in playing in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Macedonia, Canada, and have performed or led groups internationally at the Umbria Jazz Festival, the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Tuscia Jazz Festival, the Angel City Jazz Festival and the Monterey Jazz Festival. You can hear my original compositions and playing on bandcamp or soundcloud.

We purchased a 12-lesson package for my daughter as a Christmas Gift. My daughter is 14 years old, and after completing these lessons her love for music has grown. She had only taken a beginner's level course in piano and guitar prior to working with Mauricio. My daughter looked forward to every lesson, and would come home to keep practicing and improving her skills. We plan to work with Mauricio again in the near future and would highly recommend him!

Ike is truly the most patient and skilled music teacher I've had. He will make sure you accomplish your goals while falling in love with your instrument and having a great time. His calming nature helped to quiet my anxiety around instruments, and reach a potential I didn't know I had in me. He truly wanted me to succeed, and he will want the same for you. I came on Take Lessons to find a different teacher while he was touring (playing metal guitar) in China. I am glad to know that he is on the site now, sharing his knowledge and passion with other people. I would absolutely recommend him to any student, at any level. x
