Want to learn how to play the fiddle and have some fun?!
My name is Oceana I am from Vancouver, Canada. I have been playing the fiddle for 23 years (since I was three years old). I believe that having a passion or hobby in your life especially introduced at a young age helps teach you how to reach goals, be creative, learn discipline and most importantly brings happiness! Music is a great way to express yourself and fiddling is all about fun and dancing!

I will teach you how to sing with your instrument and dance with your heart. It’s never too early or too late to start fiddlin! I teach all ages, from 3 to 103! Wether you have a classical background or you’ve never played before, or maybe you want your child to be a music prodigy, I’ll jump on your level and we will learn and have some fun together! I use a combination of sheet music and ear training-you will learn how to play by ear and also enough music theory to play with your favorite band. Practice makes perfect, but even ...

About Oceana

I began my music studies at the age of 3, as soon as I could hold a tiny 1/8th size fiddle my mom put me in lessons. I have taken fiddle/violin lessons from Calvin Cairns, Daniel Lapp, Carlisle Wilson, Steven DeVries and Garth Wilson in Victoria, BC. Glenn Graham and Jennifer Roland in Cape Breton,

Hey folks, Ive been slamming my drums for about 20 years, I have a fun exciting approach to teaching. Sometimes it can be boring to get bogged down with rudiments and classic drum lesson material, Im not that kind of teacher. I have a back round in psychology as well as music, and I understand the importance making any subject exciting to the audience. So heres my approach laid out below in a few easy steps.

1. Ask you what music you love, and what are some songs you want to learn how to play.
2. While helping you to rock out to your favorite songs, like a pro, I will be assessing certain chops you need to work on.
3. Slowly work in some basic drum rudiment work, to help you play the songs you love even better, and add in some of your own flare.
4. Eventually have you perform one of your songs live in front of friends and family, if you feel up to it.
5. Continue to build your skills in an organic, fun, engaging , performance goal focused teaching method that I truly believe in.

Both of my children had their very first piano lessons under the tutelage of Hannah, and Vango Piano Method Book One was one of the first books from which they learned to read music. This book was easy for them to follow and they were never frustrated with the learning process. They always looked forward to their music lessons and even fought over who got to go first! I highly recommend Hannah and her piano method books for any beginner.
Erica
I have two children who have been taken piano lessons with Ms. Vango. She is a very experienced pianist and teacher and is very knowledgeable about piano methods that both appeal to children and also are effective for learning important piano skills in an order that makes sense. My second oldest uses Vango Piano Method Book One and enjoys it. This is a good introduction to piano book for parents who would like to sit with their child and work on a few pages at a time or even for other piano teachers starting their own new beginner students.
Jorn V.
We love Ms. Vango! My daughter has fun and is engaged, and at the same time she is challenged. It is the perfect balance. She looks forward to lessons and performances. Ms. Vango helped my daughter develop an appreciation for music, a good ear and wonderful piano skills.

Started with some basics and built on that. Was very helpful in showing me tuning, proper hand positioning, and how to improve my fingering (those pesky notes). Got a lot for the first class and enough homework to keep me busy! Will be meeting again next week.

My son is quite shy and anxious about performing below what he develops as an expectation for himself - in everything, from sports to school work to music. Nicole's combination of professional excellence, efficiency and warmth made him immediately feel comfortable and open to constructive feedback . Nicole's teaching style is excellent. He is improving noticeably with every lesson.

"I've had many teachers over the last several years and Dan is by far the best. He really takes the time to understand how I learn (and what I want) and structures each lesson accordingly. Dan knows all genres of music so I've been able to explore a lot and find something I really like to play (jazz at the moment)."

"I have been taking lesson's with Lynzi for three weeks now. Lynzi is a great singing teacher! She listens to your struggles and makes tips/suggestions on ways to make it better. In addition, even when I'm not at a lesson I know she is only a text or call away if I need help or guidance. In our singing lessons, she pushes me to try new things- things that may be uncomfortable at first. She doesn't get frustrated or mad if you miss a note/ can't get it. In the past three weeks, I have learned so much from her and about me."
