I believe that learning music is one of the greatest gifts that people can obtain and achieve in life, because if builds self-confidence, provide happiness to ourselves, and appreciate different cultures. Through singing, it has the power to touch the empathy of people through communication of words as singers deliver these texts within their sounding voice.

Having the talents in music is not predetermined whether you have them or you don’t, but I firmly believed that musical talent is a skill that can be learned and enriched. Through hard work and practice, I do agree that everyone can achieve these skills and become an exceptional musician. It is in my environment as a voice instructor to encourage and uplift my students through the very best of their capability by learning wide variety of songs while maintaining healthy vocal production throughout their instructions.

Through my previous mentors, I had received voice instructions with intense and thorough understanding of ...

"Murray Piper is an excellent, excellent music teacher for kids (and adults too). Unlike some of my past music teachers, who's instrument skills far exceed their ability to teach, Murray is an excellent communicator, super engaging, and keeps lessons really fun. My 7 year old Son is receiving drum lessons from Mr. Piper, and loves interacting with him. Murray is also happy to adjust his teaching style to suit the personality of his students. Most importantly as a Father, Murray is kind, upbeat, and professional with every member of my family, including my two children who aren't (yet) receiving music lessons. Thank you Murray! You are truly excellent at what you do."

"Paul is an amazing teacher and mentor. Today we tackled harmonies while recording and it was so special to me. Paul is dedicated to his craft and his students. He prepares for each lesson, whether vocal or piano, and pushes me further along while reinforcing what we learned previously. He's just the perfect balance of strict and encouraging, always leaving me with a lesson that I had not anticipated and a whole lot of fun. I am so happy I found a teacher as great as Paul, he is truly one of a kind!"

"Michelle does a great job with my 6 year old son. He has been getting weekly lessons for over a year now, and is making a lot of progress. He also enjoys the lessons enough to look forward to them. I was worried he would lose interest, but so far that is not the case. Michelle makes it fun and provides small rewards and lots of encouragement. I wanted to expose my son to the experience and enjoyment that comes with learning to play music, and Michelle has made that possible."

"There is something about self doubt that really makes it hard to learn a new instrument, especially when you’re not a middler schooler. As a current college student in Boston, I’ve always wanted to learn how to play guitar (something about my ukulele just bored me at this point). When I looked for guitar clubs on campus, it turned out that every other member not only knew how to play guitar but also was really good at it too. Bummed there wasn’t a “beginner guitar newbie club” on campus, I turned to guitar schools around Boston. A lot of them dumbed down the guitar to a point where it felt condescending (ex: making up names for strings instead of learning notes). Discouraged, I searched online and happened upon Jack! His Scottish accent wasn’t the only thing that caught my attention, this guy can really shred! He manages to make you feel comfortable and never makes me feel dumb when I make a mistake or ask a question. He is the first guitar teacher in Boston, anyway, to actually show me how to be comfortable and confident with my instrument, even from the beginning."

"I came back to learning piano about a year ago after not playing for more than 20 years and didn't know what to expect in terms of how much I could realistically improve. Under Fawn's patient guidance, the change in my playing has been beyond anything I imagined possible. Fawn's approach to technique, practicing and performing is intuitive and very effective and has given me the confidence to tackle more and more challenging pieces believing that with her help I will get there eventually. I would highly recommend Fawn for anyone wanting to improve their playing, whatever age or ability."

Female Songwriters to Inspire You

Ooh, girl.  Full honesty here, I read my topic for this week and I whisper-screamed “YES!!” in my little home office. As a female singer/songwriter, I have found inspiration from many a woman, from many a genre, known, and unknown. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy my favorite article to date.  Let’s start with the queen herself, Dolly Parton.  She has written more than her fair share of hits, including ones you probably had no idea that were her creations. 5 Reasons My Guitar Might Be My Best Friend

Music can be a very rewarding experience - and a personal one, at that. Most musicians spend a LOT of time with their instrument, often baring their souls in the form of melodies and lyrics. If you treat your guitar like part of the family - or your best friend - you'll relate to what Gresham, OR guitar teacher Ed P. has to say here...   Did you know that some of the old blues players named their guitars?  Some of them were even rumored to sleep with their guitars.  I’m not saying tha …
