About Dr. "Z"
I have a bachelor's degree and went to U.C. Berkeley right after high school. I am a unique tutor in that I also have an M.D.degree! I love working with children as well as adults. I have over 15 years of post-high school education and over 10 years of tutoring experience! I have been tutoring students professionally in Math, Language Arts, Science, among other subjects since 2008. Before that, I taught remedial workshop classes for more than 2 years. After medical school, I spent 2 years training in a externship program in psychiatry at an accredited residency hospital. What I learned in the program gives me an edge in teaching, and understanding the learning style of each individual student as well as working with those who have learning differences, such as those who have ADHD, Autism (ASD), Dyslexia, and Asperger's.

I cater my lessons individually to each student as each student's learning style is completely different. This way I maximize the learning experience each student has with me.

I was failing genetics and with online tutoring i went from a 69% to A. He really has your best interests in mind, when i asked him last minute to help and he was too packed helping other students he referred me to another well rounded tutor. dr. Z is worth the wait since he has a lot of patience for disabled students, he truly enables them. Thank you for helping me accomplish such a tough subject.

I just started nursing school at UCLA and had failed my first midterm. Dr. Z was really supportive and taught me how to study. He really knew how to teach the material. After tutoring with him on a daily basis, my grade went up to an A on the final, and I received an A- in the class ! Whoo!!!. This tutor is excellent in every way and I highly recommend him!

Several years tutoring and teaching several math areas and education in mathematics

About Kevin
I have had a fairly diverse musical background, including playing with bands and orchestras, as well as participating in choral groups and opera. I have a master's degree in music performance for wind conducting, and a bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis on piano performance.

I have taught private lessons for several years now and I love every moment with my students! I have a real passion for sharing my knowledge and experience with others, both failures and successes. I believe everyone has creative potential, and I believe music is a real universal art form that anyone can tap into if they want. Above all, making and creating music should also be fun!

*** Lesson Details ***
I try to keep my lessons professional but comfortable too. I don't yell at students for messing up or anything like that. I usually have an agenda b
ut am willing to adjust and compromise if the situation dictates. If you don't have a curriculum in mind, I like Alfred's piano courses, but will do my best to find one that fits you as a student best. My initial goals are to make sure the basics of reading music and performing are set so that no matter what musical avenue you want to pursue, you will be successful. I do specialize in classical music but enjoy creating and playing in other genres as well.

I now also offer lessons online, as well as tutoring in most math areas!

***CANCELLATION POLICY***
I kindly ask for 24 hour notice whenever possible if a lesson is going to be missed. Generally speaking, if I don't hear from a student and their lesson time passes I will mark the lesson as missed, but I am also usually more than willing to make up the lesson at a later time.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a piano keyboard at my home.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I would expect students to have their own instruments as needed, as well as music paper, pencils, etc. I may be able to provide some of those materials on occasion as well as some books/recordings, but will by and large expect students to purchase those for themselves.

*** Specialties ***
I am much more familiar with classical styles and Broadway. My music writing style tends to be somewhere between neo-classical and avant-garde.

I have been teaching math for several years now and understand the need for a good foundation. I work with students to find any concepts they have missed or do not fully understand. My goal in teaching math is always comprehension not grades. After laying a good foundation, it is amazing to see the improvement and success my students have had!

About Benjamin
I have extensively studied vocal performance for many years and continue to add to my own technique. I have a Master of Vocal Performance Degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. I currently work for a recording studio (Sound Summit Studios in Naperville IL) where I teach voice and help singers record their music in the studio. I have previously taught at The School of Rock in Indianapolis Indiana. I have administered vocal lessons to every voice type at all different levels. Several of my students have recored albums and are currently performing all over the U.S.

I have a bachelors degree in biology with a minor in art. After graduating college, I was a full-time high school biology teacher, volleyball coach, and director of the school musical. As a high school teacher, I learned first hand the kind of pressure and expectat
ions that are placed on students in order for them to succeed. In college, I was the head student researcher on a two-year lab project. I took several upper level science courses including: biochemistry, calculus, organic chemistry, calculus based physics, cell biology, anatomy, and physiology. I studied marine biology in the Virgin Islands and am CPR certified.

*** Lesson Details ***
Voice lessons with me are fun and effective. You can expect to hear improved technique from day one, eventually reaching your long term goals. I begin every lesson aligning the students voice through various vocal warm ups and exercises. We then work together to pick repertoire that will suit the singer'€™s voice and they will enjoy singing. During a lesson we will also cover performance presentation, acting, diction, rhythm, musicality, style, and interpretation.

During tutoring you can expect a personalized plan based on your goals and aspirations. Since every student is different you can be assured we will come up with a plan that is designed just for you. I am a laid back tutor but will be sure to get the most out of you after our time together. Most students see at least a one letter grade improvement. My main goal for every tutoring session is student learning and comprehension.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano, recording equipment, large collection of sheet music

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in helping students find their true singing voice.

Ben is absolutely amazing! He has an astonishing amount of knowledge and a way of explaining and teaching that makes sense to me in a way that no instructor has ever done. My personal goal, as impractical as it may seem, was to be able to sing with a healthy vibrato and by the end of our first 30 minute lesson, I was able to sing a note with a healthy vibrato. Something as simple as “feeling spinning a ping pong ball in the back of the throat” made me able to produce this beautiful and rich sound. This is a small first step but a huge achievement that I was not able to achieve with months of lessons with other instructors in the past. This gave me such a rewarding feeling and gave me so much ambition to practice and improve. Bravo Ben! Bravo!

Ben has helped me tremendously over just a few lessons. Everything I thought I was supposed to do in order to sing properly was pretty much wrong. He is able to explain techniques very clearly in order for me to improve my singing voice. It has not been easy for me but he is very patient as well as demanding in order for me to reach my full potential. I have and will continue to recommend him to anybody looking to improve their voice. Excellent instructor!

About Clifford
'Dr. Cliff,' a part-time college/university professor, teacher and tutor with 5 master's and 3 doctoral degrees in a variety of topics: Mathematics, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, MBA, Leadership, Education and Administration. He has always used proven educational techniques to instruct undergraduate students, graduate students and school children/teenagers (K-12). Dr. Cliff believes that, although many professors and teachers do an admirable job in the classroom, many students
and children do not learn well in traditional institutions. Many students and children don't respond to the assembly line nature of most institutions. He believes that a student's or child's strengths and natural abilities need to be the foundation of learning. Dr. Cliff often warns against a "cookie cutter" approach to educating students, teenagers and children. You or your child is seen as an individual, and natural strengths are identified and built upon. Therefore, individual one-on-one tutoring or help is the key approach to each student who has any challenges difficulties in a given subject.

In today’s environment and economic challenges, with shorter budgets for the education, larger classes sizes and pressure of performing well in all kind of standard tests, I often see many students lacking true knowledge and skills in a given subject, since they cannot get individualized attention during the class session. That’s where a tutor comes into the picture, not only uncover major “holes” in students’ knowledge set but also teach students how to study, how to learn and through proper guidance “fill” those knowledge and skills holes.

Mathematics is my forte' above all my subjects, but I know many have hardships in this field even the most primary one which is arithmetic. I would like you to learn how to do computations in your head and I will gladly share a few tricks to make math like it is simply a joke.

About Danschnieder
Hello my name is Danschneider. I cannot wait to meet all of you. I have been teaching chess, singing, English, algebra, and basic Math since 2002. I am more than happy to teach in-home, or in-studio to anyone. I have been a martial arts practitioner since the age 15, in different martial arts reigning from Hung Gar kung fu, Karate, and my specialty the Filipino martial art of Eskrima. I have years of experience teaching drawing from basic line drawing, to shading, coloring, etc.. I write my own original poems. I have been working with two non- profit groups such as KIWANIS and S.I.P.A. Under KIWANIS I became more in tuned with different kinds of people.I'm also very good with the children and teens. S.I.P.A. was a program where I worked with children from ages 6-12. I might not be a parent, but I know how to keep the kids enthusiastic and
cheerful . I am willing to teach and work with anyone.

Do not let your future depend on whether or not you are a "math person". Working with me, you will learn new skills, hone existing skills, and gain the confidence to pursue your educational or career goals no matter the math requirements. I am an enthusiastic, energetic teacher with a whole lot of patience and several years' of experience working with all types of students. I have worked with students who hated math and some that discovered they loved it. No matter where you fall on that spectrum, I will work hard to tailor your sessions to your needs, goals, learning style(s), and interests. The best in any field have a team of people helping them thrive. Let me join your team so that no math class stands between you and your dreams.

About Becky
I am a graduate of Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and an emphasis on secondary education. My student teaching was with middle schoolers and I've always enjoyed working with adult learners. While there is something fantastic about every student, I think I am a uniquely perfect fit for the student that is math-phobic or even hates math.

Math did not always come easily for me and I vividly remember being extremely frustrated, especially in high school. One teacher in college, though, had a different presentation style, and everything started to click. After that, I knew that learning math was as much about the instructor as it was about the student. Moreover, I knew I wanted to be the kind of teacher that worked to meet a student where they were at and then teach to their learning style whe
never possible.

So when working with me, either alone or in a small group, I will work to get to know you, your goals, your interests, and your learning style. Then I will do everything I can to make the topics relevant to you. I will never answer a "Why" questions with "Just because". If you don't understand when I explain it one way, I will try a different approach, and keep trying until you understand. Learning is a journey, but not one you should make by yourself, and I would be happy to travel some of it with you.

Arithmetic

About Ahmed
I do not see teaching as simply repeating what has been already detailed in text books and lectures. Everyone’s mind is different and thus everyone has a unique perception to understanding one issue or another. Things are better illustrated with an example.

A while back, there was a television show hosted by a T.V. personality named Monty Hall. In the show, Monty presented a contestant with 3 closed doors. Behind one door was a new car. And behind each of the other two doors was a goat. The contestant had the option to choose one door so as to win the new car.

The probability that a car was behind door 1 or door 2 or door 3 was the same, about 33.33%. Let us say that the contestant picked door 1. Monty would then open one of the other two doors that were not chosen by the contestant. There were 3 terms in the game: 1) Monty knew what w
as behind each door; 2) Monty cannot open the door that was already chosen by the contestant; 3) Monty would only open a door that hides a goat.

Let us say Monty opened door 3 revealing a goat. Monty then asked the contestant if the contestant would like to switch to door 2 or keep his original choice of door 1. Contestants would be bewildered not knowing really what to do. Was it better to keep the originally choice or was it better to switch or it would make no difference whether to keep the original choice or switch?

Meet Marilyn vos Savant. Marilyn wrote a column called “Ask Marilyn” in a newspaper called Parade. Marilyn was known for having one of the highest recorded IQ. A reader sent Marilyn a letter asking her if it was better to switch or not to switch. Marilyn stated in her column that a contestant should switch since switching doubled the contestant’s chances of winning. Many of Marilyn’s readers erupted in protest including readers with Ph.D., mathematicians, and academicians. Most people believed that the probability that a car was behind door 1 or door 2 was the same of 50%.

This became known as The Monty Hall Problem or The Monty Hall Paradox. Articles and books were written over this problem. Actually Marilyn was right and this was proven using computer simulation. Yet until today many people cannot understand that switching doubles the chances of winning.

At first glance this paradox might seem irrelevant to teaching. But I think it does. This paradox tutor the mind in the subject of structured thinking which is very important in learning.
