Nicole's approach to teaching voice is very laid back.
She believes that if you have a rigid curriculum, you leave no room for individuality and creativity. Her goals are to assess your voice, listen to her students goals and needs and develop a plan based upon what her student wants coupled with her professional suggestions on areas that she feels need the most focus for development. This can change on a weekly or monthly basis. There is no set time to determine when you reach your desired goals, it is all about your development during the journey!

*** Specialties ***
Jazz, Classical, R&B, Soul, Neo Soul, Contemporary, Gospel, Christian, Hip Hop, Soul and more

Note- I also teach other skills such as acting, writing, speaking, skin care, studying etc.

I have recorded my own material since the 80s and have worked with some of the best producer/engineers and have taken recording techniques at school. I know the software programs; Pro Tools and Garageband.

About Jena
Learn to SING, PLAY, WRITE. PERFORM and RECORD, The Whole Musician Way. Balance your life through Music.

From my songs, I am powerless to power-girl, I became a transformational singer/songwriter, coach, speaker, workshop host and author of the book, Change the World - Write Your Song! I have written songs since my teens and I found a kinship to writing songs that was driven by dynamics, power and the transformation music has to myself, to others and to the world. All I want to be is a transformational singer/songwriter and now teacher. It's my turn to help you write your song. Find your voice whether it be singing, playing an instrument, writing or performing. I teach the Whole Musician Way! It's way of life!

I have been writing songs for over 25 years. At 35, I returned to school and got an Associate of Art degree in music at Sa
nta Barbara City College and a Bachelor of Art degree in music at University California Santa Barbara. After receiving my degree from the University in 2001, I plunged back into my first love songwriting and started recording. In 2004, I released my CD, Faded Fiction. These were songs that I recorded in 1998, while attending school. Then in 2007, I released a second CD, The Ballad Of Calamity. In 2011, I self -published my first book, Change The World; Write Your Song! Book I - Fundamentals and beyond for the Aspiring Singer/Songwriter. I have been busy working on book II, writing songs, working for a non-profit After school program called, Girls Rock SB, teaching privately, singing and acting with Santa Barbara Revels, performing with my band The Stone Phoneys - Linda Ronstadt Tribute and recording.

Special note to the Parents of prospective music students:

Many doctors and scientist are also musicians because it is a creative craft stimulating a part of the brain that academics does not. Music will always be around and when you learn music you also learn; math, language, history, reading and science. Whether your child continues in music or not, the benefits of knowing music are documented.

Together with your child I will help them realize their greatness. They can learn so much about themselves just by writing their song. I have a unique perspective on the pre-teen and teen because that is when I began writing songs. If only I knew then what I know now! This is something I can do for your child. For me, songwriting was my escape and my therapy. I survived my troubled teens through music. And now I want to teach your child all I know. Combined with some performance opportunities! Your child will love it! Most of my kids get a kick out of my lessons. I am very patient and yet provide incentives to inspire motivation for the possibilities of great things.

To teach "The Whole Musician" means to teach, voice, guitar and/or piano, songwriting, performance, recording and the music business. I teach anyone who wants to learn. With this "whole musician" style of teaching, we will together create your unique style by focusing on your strengths.

Music has the power to influence and change lives, therefore changing the world. As a beginning singer/songwriter, you will discover how to look within first, before creating your song and exploring your voice. My objective is to help you create your song, your voice, your style!

~ Learn beginning guitar, piano and bass. Learn the basics, chords, scales, TABs and how to read simple music charts. Also, learn the basics in music theory, musicianship and to read music.

~ Songwriting for Pre-teens- Learn about how to write songs from a title and other methods, simple lyrics, songwriting forms and rhythms.

~Songwriting for Teens and beyond! Learn different methods to write songs, chord progressions, songwriting forms, Lyrics, complex rhymes and rhythms and much much more!

~ Performance. each student will have the opportunity to perform, the performer etiquette and the music business.

~ Record. each student will learn about the different music software programs and learn the basics.

I love to teach voice, guitar, piano, songwriting, performing and recording. I can help you learn everything you need to know to become the next superstar. If you love Taylor Swift, Katie Perry and The Beatles you'll love to work with me because I love them too.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have an electric and acoustic guitar, electric bass and piano.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have my own guitar.

*** Specialties ***
I like to teach the "whole Musician" meaning if a student wants to learn voice and guitar or piano to accompany their voice or to help them write a song or help them complete a song I can teach them. Students will begin by learning songs they like by singing, playing and performing them with my guidance. What ever I know I will pass it on! I love to teach songwriting. I wrote a book and believe that songwriting is very therapeutic and easy to learn. I mostly like to teach a student by ear but can teach them how to read music too. I also love to teach how to perform, record and to find their best singing voice.

I recommend Jenna to all levels of learners!

I knew nothing about playing the guitar before my first lesson. She made me feel comfortable right away and was able to help me learn quickly. She also helped me with my singing at the same time. She let me pick the music I was interested in and gave me tips on how to learn at home too. She is also very nice and patient.
Thanks Jenna!

I teach Cubase multi-track recording.

I have been teaching this for 12 years.

I am very patient and adjust areas of study to fit my students goals.

About Kimberly
I started playing music around the Kansas City area twenty five years ago. I graduated from The University of Southern California with a degree in studio/jazz guitar (cum laude). While at USC, I received a merit scholarship and an award for professional leadership and service within her department. I also graduated with honors from Musicians Institute (GIT), of Hollywood, CA.

I have toured the U.S. and Canada playing venues such as The Portland Rose Festival, The Playboy Jazz Festival, The Santa Monica Twilight Concert Series, Irvine Lake Blues Festival,The Burnaby British Columbia Blues Festival and the Long Beach Blues Festival. The headliners at these events included Robben Ford, The Neville Brothers, and Johnny Winter.

I have released two solo CD's that have received first-rate reviews, as well as international airplay. Af
ter the second CD, I was biographied for AMG (All Music Guide) the internet's first source for music information. Here are excerpts from the AMG bio:

... there are also elements of Jimi Hendrix (arguably the first true heavy metal/hard rock artist), Jeff Beck and Stevie Ray Vaughan in her playing, and she clearly has a strong appreciation of jazz--not only jazz-rock fusion improvisers like John Scofield, Larry Coryell and Mahavishnu Orchestra founder John McLaughlin, but also, straight-ahead bop favorites such as Kenny Burrell, Grant Green, Wes Montgomery and Joe Pass.......eclectic outlook is one of her strong points; her ability to move from a tough, aggressive blues-rock groove to a more cerebral, fusion-minded approach to the occasional soul-jazz/hard bop number has made for some very unpredictable albums.

I have been teaching full-time for the past 15years. I have taught all ages and popular styles. In 2008, my blues guitar method was published and distributed through Amazon.

*** Lesson Details ***
I incorporate a tailored curriculum to help people achieve their personal goals. Learning music is not a "one-size fits all" proposition. I can show you the songs that you want to play. I can also teach you music theory, technique, improvisation, reading and more. I adjust your course of study according to your areas of interest. If you are dying to learn a Led Zeppelin tune, or are planning on auditioning for a college level jazz guitar program, I can help you achieve these goals. I have taught hundreds of beginners along side more advanced students. My students have gone one to study music at GIT, Fullerton College, Pasadena City College, Berklee, Cal State LA, and USC.

Most of all, I am extremely patient. The ability to playing a musical instrument is measure on a calendar, not on a watch. I often work at a slow, systematic pace. I am generally very laid-back. On the other hand, if you learn very quickly, I can readily show you the skills you need to meet your goal. I have fast-tracked many individuals that were seeking admittance to an academic program.

My teaching studio is computer equipped. This allows me to incorporate computer software that enhances learning. One such program, Band in a Box, generates accompaniment for students so that they can work on their soloing skills. Another program can slow recorded music down so that the student can practice slowly with it. Also, I often give out play-along practice CDs for improved learning.

The aspect of performance is often not addressed by many. I am able to work with my guitar students while accompanying by performing live bass or drum parts, or work with bass students while playing the guitar or drum parts. This allows the student to understand his or her roll in an live band.

After a few classes with Kimberly I wrote review which went like this “I have been taking lessons from Kimberly for the last few weeks. As a comparison, I have taken lessons a number of times in the distant past. Kimberly is by far the very best guitar instructor I have had. Kimberly is extremely knowledgeable, highly skilled and very personable”.
In the end I took about 2+ years of classes with Kimberly, one class per week. Further, that was about three years ago. Whereas the only reason I stopped was I moved from the area. I know I could have continued with Skype or some other remote technology. I keep thinking I will. As the complications of life continue to get in the way.
The real story is with Kimberly skill, attention and personable nature, my guitar playing advanced more under her ‘wings’ then at any other time. Thank you Kimberly!

I took lessons with Steven for almost a year and I must say working with him has truly been a blast. I emailed Steven originally looking for help with my theory skills as well as both my acoustic and electric guitar playing and I have without a doubt gotten a hundred times better at all of the above. I have never been able to play a guitar solo before working with him and thought it would be months until I could even begin to think about that but right away he showed me the ropes and got me going. I was totally discouraged about my skill level because I’ve been wanting to major in music in college but started playing late in the game. However, Steven was nothing but encouraging through not only teaching me crucial musical skills but also sharing invaluable stories from when he was in music school leaving me nothing but inspired. Its often intimidating to meet a private instructor for the first time (I’ve met plenty of bad ones) but Steven is one of the nicest guys in the world and I can’t wait to continue lessons with him again once I have the time. Be sure to check out the Rivera Sunnarborg Duo live they are absolutely breathtaking! Have fun taking lessons and get ready for some nerdy music theory jokes!

About Keanon
I love everything about teaching! I love music; it is my life. I sleep, breathe and dream music. I am a Columbia University Chicago graduate; I graduated with a degree in Music with a concentration in Classical Voice. I have performed in numerous operas and musicals, as well as, sung on Gospel Cruises all around the world. In my eyes, the student is the main focus so whatever issues, concerns or request the student may have I will treat them with priority. I am all about strengthening the natural born talent and making my students the best vocalist they can be. I'm here to serve the students and that is what I will do until they are confident in their gift...music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I take music very seriously but at the same time I like my lessons to be fun and a joyous experience. I am very patient and helpful with any strugg
les that may seem too hard to the student. I will start my students off with the basic vocal warm ups and then move on to material that they would like to cover and if so the student doesn't have material to cover, I will present them with material. Being a singer is not easy at all, so I will challenge my students by giving exercises that challenge them to sing for proficient. I will also bring in material that is brand new and ask the students questions about the piece. The student is in the lesson to learn everything about music, so any type of material that I feel will benefit them and help them move closer to their goal, I will definitely present to them. After 3 to 6 months students will be able to sing in the 3 minor keys and the major key. The student will also have knowledge and know how to sing at least 3 different modes. The singer will know how to read basic sheet music and perform it with solfege. The singer will also have 4 songs of my choice or their choice mastered and ready to perform in front of an audience. Lastly, the singer will have knowledge of proper breath control while performing, usage of a microphone, and intonation.

Keanon is a GREAT teacher/artist/musician/mentor

I've been working with Keanon for almost a year now. Aside from being an amazing vocalist himself, he does everything he can to help students reach their full potential and find their voice. He makes lessons fun while constantly keeping you challenged. There's always encouragement from him to strive to be better, which can really bring the best out of singers. Whether you're simply singing for hobby, performing for shows/auditions, or ready to record, Keanon has something to offer to any aspiring musician. He has a passion and love for music and understands it's a gift that must be shared with the world.

It is different play live than play in a session. Nobody teach you this until you have usually your first session and sometimes it is very disappointing . It is totally a different to play in a recording studio than on stage.
I teach not just drummers but also bands how to prepare to record.
How to prepare for a recording session. How to rehearse before this important moment and what is really important moment.

About Enrique
I truly enjoy teaching and have many years of experience teaching students of all levels and ages.

I try to teach my students how important it is to listen to themselves play. When appropriate, I bring a guitar or bass (depending on the student's need) and help the student learn how drums relate to the rest of the music. I want all of my students to enjoy playing and to have music as a tool for life: one that helps them express themselves, think creatively, learn specific and technical skills, and grow musically. I believe all people can benefit from learning to play an instrument. If you or your child believe that music can provide a new way to find meaning and joy in life while learning a valuable skill, please contact me.

In addition, I have successfully taught many students who have had trouble in school due to lack of motivati
on and/or learning disabilities. Drum/percussion lessons have reawakened these discouraged students' desire to learn and I am happy to adjust my teaching style for any disabilities or difficulties a student may have. I am happy to provide references from parents whose children were struggling in other areas of life and who looked forward to a music lesson when all else seemed to be a chore.

More information: My recent recordings include top-selling Mexican pop artist Yuridia's newest album, Entre Mariposas, produced by his longtime collaborator Javier Calderon, and I have shared credits with Kenny Aronoff and James East.

Winner , San Diego Music Awards with the band Skelpin.

Percussionist of Manolito Gypsy (Gypsy Kings).

Classes are 30, 45 or 60 minutes, depending on age and ability. I give lessons at your home or in my home studio.

I will start by talking to the student and/or parent about what the student would like to accomplish from the lessons and what, if any, musical background the student already has. It's OK if you don't have any experience at all.

The first class is when I focus on understanding how the student learns. Everyone learns differently and is motivated differently, so I make it a point to get to know what makes the student tick. During the first lesson, we will do some basic exercises so I can pinpoint where they are, and I'll assign skills to practice for the next class.

If the class is taught at my home studio, I record it for the student to refer to during the week. I assign exercises for every class, so please plan to practice at least 15 minutes per day while you are taking lessons.

Finally, I offer a recording opportunity for students who are writing songs and would like to learn recording skills. This is an option for advanced students, students who are looking to record a demo, or for young students who would like to preserve their new accomplishments on an audio file that can be given as a gift.

I have been working as a professional musician since 1987. In that time, I've played many roles alongside a wide range of established and emerging talent, from around the world, including band leader, accompanist, music producer, composer, arranger, co-writer, teacher, coach and mentor. Along the way, I have continued to pursue my passion for education, teaching private music lessons to amateurs, professionals and hobbyists from all walks of life.

As a recording artist, I have had four (4) independent releases. As a writer/producer, I have worked on projects with Amy Wilcox (Crazy Hearts: Nashville, A&E-TV), Haden Carpenter (Big Smo, A&E-TV), The Worsties, Ben Cyllus, Tara O'Grady, The Wailin' Canes, The LiNE and Sam Hunter, and enjoyed six (6) synchs on network and cable television including one (1) on The Good Guys (FOX), two (2) on Real World: St. Thomas (MTV) and three (3) on Bad Girls Club (Oxygen).
