About Edwin
Hello! Thank you for your interest in taking guitar/piano/music lessons.

I am a professional teacher/studio musician/performer/producer with over 17 years of private teaching experience and a graduate of the University of Miami Studio Music and Jazz program in 2002 specializing in the guitar.

I am available to teach guitar(acoustic, electric, classical) for all levels, ages, and styles(pop to folk, rock to soul, world to classical) in English, Spanish and Japanese.

Other subjects taught include bass guitar, piano/keyboard, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, harmonium, classical percussion, music theory, composition(all styles from pop to classical), ear training, and studio production/engineering/mixing.

Born in Cali, Colombia on April 1979, I began my musical endeavors studying the piano at the age of 6. Early on I had the opportunit
y to play percussion in the school symphony while at the same time developed an intense interest in the instrument that would become my true love, the guitar.

During 1996-98 I studied jazz guitar at the New World School of the Arts music program under the direction of J.B. Dyas and Dr. Roby George. Upon graduation, I was immediately accepted to the University of Miami jazz guitar program under the direction of Randall Dollahan. It was during this time that I also refined my skills as a classical guitarist and as a composer/arranger. In addition, I began passing my knowledge onto friends and eventually began working as a teacher.

My ability to play almost any genre of music is the fruit of past experience playing with an impressive variety of music groups, including jazz combos, symphony orchestras, Andean world music ensembles, and several rock and pop groups as well. As a studio guitarist I have recorded for various artists including Jaci Velasquez, Carlos Ponce, Alexandre Pires, and Noelia.

Every one of you is unique and there are many possible paths to reach your goals in music.

With my background and music industry experience, I am able to customize my lessons for you so that you can reach your desired goals. We will take some time to find out where your passion lies in music and I will use my experience and knowledge to create a customized lesson-plan that will allow us to focus on reaching your desired goals and at the same time maintain a well rounded music education.

I find this to be key in making the lessons and your practice sessions very enjoyable, fun and laid back - knowing that everything we practice, play and talk about is in line with your goals as a student.

I will also be playing along with you and demonstrating everything that we're working on - music is meant to be shared and played with others and it is important to have that experience of interaction from early on in your lessons.

So whether it's learning to accompany yourself or others, write songs, read music, understand harmony, solo, or just jam out to your favorite songs, you will be well on your way to reaching your goals within 6 months of my lessons.

Look forward to making music with you!

Edwin is very knowledgeable about music. He is a very adaptive to players of all skill sets and have guided me though the basics when I was once a beginner. He provides insight to the difficult questions that I come across over the years of playing guitar. He especially helped me understand music in a much larger scale. Overall, he is a well rounded teacher that is patient and supportive with his students.

I teach Rock, jazz, reading and improving! Electric and Acoustic. I lay along with my students and make sure they have fun!

About Mike
I have taught private guitar, piano, bass and drum lessons since the late 70s in Salt Lake City, where I majored in jazz guitar performance, and since 1980 in Los Angeles. I make the lessons fun. Some of my students have received college scholarships and won cash prizes for music contests. All of them had fun while learning and improving on their instruments.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am very enthusiastic and can teach students how to read. If they do not want to read music, they can learn to play by ear. I can also show them where to put their fingers. During piano lessons, I often accompany students on guitar and suggest a scale for improvisation, so they can play the blues. During drum lessons, I often play bass so they can learn to groove.

*** Travel Equipment ***
They should have their own instrument and a music stand.

*** Spec
ialties ***
I specialize in jazz improvisation on piano and guitar.
I also teach recreational guitar and piano for adults, including classical and blues styles.
I coach bass players and drummers in playing stylistically correct grooves for jazz, rock and latin music.

Most excellent first guitar lesson to where we actually played a song together. I'm blown away. What fun! I only hope I can remember the chords when I practice on my own, and I look forward to my next lesson with Mike. I can already tell I'll be signing up for more lessons. Great teacher, and I can say that because I tried to learn some years ago with another instructor, and he made me feel like I'd just never get it and may as well give up. Mike erased all that negativity for me in 30 minutes. Thanks, Mike!

FUN!!! Learning guitar should be fun! I teach electric and acoustic guitar in a fun way. The exercises that I have you do are not boring, they are actual songs that you get better and better at playing.
I mix up the lessons and your practice with a combination of scales that can turn into instant leads, cords and the combination of cords that make up a family called a "key". I teach a variety of strum and picking patterns and styles, from folk to reggae to rock. The latest thing in playing melodies is tablature, I teach that, but I also believe that you need to be able to play regular notes as well. Best of all, you do not have to be a great lead guitarist to be a star, and if you want to sing while you play I can definitely teach you that!

About Daniel
Music lessons should be fun and focus on what you want! I am willing to travel to you or welcome you to my studios: Reseda pr Canoga Park. I travel to homes San Diego and Los Angeles Counties.
What is your goal? School or Church choir? Musical programs?Learn to Cantor or lead songs at Church/Synagogue? Disney careers, rock/pop bands? Becoming a professional or just for personal enrichment!! I am able to help you move closer to reaching that dream!!! I am a graduate of USD with a B.A. in Philosophy with an emphasis in musical performance. I also hold a Masters degree, completed California Teaching Credential Curriculum from Chapman University and completed Doctoral Studies at Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. I studied voice, guitar and piano classes throughout grade school, high school, college and post-graduate
training. I specilized in vocal training with Robert Austin and in San Francisco with Richard Nichol of the Garcia-Marchesi Institute. I sang with the Palm Beach Florida Opera Company. I am a tenor with a 3.5 octave range. I also sang and performed in Musicals and Operas and Sacred Oratorios from Maui to Florida. I am the proud "dad" of two high school aged children who are excellent students!
I teach voice (beginner to professional levels), guitar (acoustic and electric: beginners to Intermediate) and basic piano. I have been teaching private lessons for 7 years. I also offer voice or guitar classes at St. Cecelia's School of Music in Canoga Park, and privately in my home Reseda. I focus my instruction on "correct" breathing and proper singing. My time-tested techniques will improve and protect your voice from injury.and produce a beautiful tone and wonderful performance. I teach guitar chords, reading standard musical notation as well as tablature. For beginning piano students of all ages I teach you how to read music, play scales, strenghten your finger strength and play cords and song.

Daniel is a fantastic voice teacher and coach. My style of choice is mostly rock/blues, as I've been playing guitar forever, but only this year began to sing. He has taught me the correct way, recommended teaching material, and now that I'm recording, is helping me find my own voice. I think he could help anybody in most any other style too. He's the best.

I'm 25 and had never learned singing in my life, but wanted to surprise my girlfriend (a singer herself) as part of a proposal. Mr. G was an extremely experienced, knowledgeable, and supportive teacher who carefully considered my strengths and weaknesses to deliver a personalized training plan. In a few months after being a total beginner, I was ready and the proposal was extremely successful. I cannot thank him enough for this wonderful gift, and I continued lessons since because I enjoyed his exceptional teaching. 10/10 would recommend.

I have had the great fortune to play original music in a group with Zephyr for the last year. His compositions are incredibly fun to play, and I feel that he worked on them with a very clear concept in mind. I've learned so much about my own musical aesthetic from working with him. I can imagine that he encourages students to find their unique approach to music as well.

Few lessons with Zeph at our place when we lived together and subsequently at my house. Zeph was patient and showed me lots about chord voicing. He both showed me progressions that highlighted the kinds of modification possible and helped me to include more variety in my own compositions. We'd play through a bit of my stuff first usually, then move in to more of the lesson. After working on that, we'd go back into something of mine with more focus and precision. Zeph was good at matching my skill level, and keeping the content and the focus consistent with what I could understand at the time. His knowledge of music theory was, at least for me, expansive enough that his answers and references ended up being very helpful. He introduced tone substitution, for instance, in a super easy to understand way.

All in all, great experiences over the last 5+ years and I'll definitely be working with him while I'm in California.

My lessons involve a mixture of technique, theory, and repertoire. In a beginner lesson for example, we will start with how to make chords, the names of each string and how they relate, and then eventually we'll choose a song to learn. It is important to me for my students to have fun during the lessons and work towards goals that they set for themselves.

About Trent
I have been teaching music for over a decade both privately and publicly. My degrees include a Bachelor's in Education and a Master's in Jazz Studies. I play drums, bass, guitar, piano, voice and am proficient in music production, theory, and composition. Whether you want to learn music theory, songwriting, music production, mixing techniques, improve your improvisational skills, or just shred peoples faces off, I'd love to help you get there. I've found the best way to inspire students is by showing them that they can play the songs they love (and learn theory and technique along the way)

About Reed
Hi my name is Reed, I'm a guitarist living in Los Angeles and I've been playing guitar for nearly 10 years. I graduated from California Lutheran University with a Bachelors Degree in Music Production and am currently the guitarist for a successful alternative band with over 1 million plays on Spotify.

I first picked up a guitar because my mom dragged me kicking and screaming to my first lesson. I expected route memorization and drills, but when I sat down and my teacher showed me the riff to "Sunshine of Your Love", I immediately fell in love with the instrument.

I use this philosophy when teaching my students by showing them how to play and create music they love and use that as a gateway into a fundamental understanding of music theory and composition.

Some of the styles I teach are Rock, Blues, Funk, R&B, Alternative, Acoustic, an
d Metal. Give me a call to see if we're a good match!
