Alyssa is an upbeat, encouraging, and patient teacher. Her own singing voice is beautiful, and she sings very professionally in a wide range of genres. She is reliable, pleasant, sincere, and capable. She gives each student her full attention and tailors her lessons to each one's particular talent (as well as where they're in need of improvement). J's assisted me with my public speaking tremendously. I am not an actor at all but I struggle with speaking on camera and in front of people and J used strategies from stage performance principles and applied them. I went from stuttering and stumbling over words to speaking with clarity and confidence. I look forward to continuously work with him.

J is awesome. The class is tailored to the student to help with what student wants to learn. What you get out the class is based on the effort you put in. I started the classes not knowing anything and just wanted to see what I could do if anything and now I am confidently going to each session looking forward to seeing how far I can take it.

Because the class is designed for the individual student, I got to work with a monologue from a video game and learn how to break down the monologue, create character for the monologue (which was a challenge and a half to distant myself from the actual character) and learn to believe that my created character is real and how I can show that with my acting. In doing I decided to use an accent, and J gave me resources and tips to find that voice.

Speaking on my experience, if you are beginning like me this is the perfect man for the job. As long as you put in the work, he will help you, guide you and push you to challenge yourself when it is needed!

JW was an excellent acting coach. He has great knowledge of improv techiniques.

I want people to feel included and seen, no matter what you believe "your type" is. There's room to look and explore with your repertoire and book. You'll be surprised what you find in just going with something less well known or not known to be for you.
I want to explore what you vocal range can do but also your power and what you seek within the moments and words. I have many great tips and tricks to get you inside the room, rock an audition, or just simply figure out pieces to get you prepared and trained. I have ways to open the potential so there's less constriction and stress within your voice as well.
Even if you just want second opinions, I'm always completely open and honest, constructive to every minute. We can work on warmups and a couple pieces, or come as ready vocally warmed up and we work on pieces the entire time. OR I answer questions you might have about the unknown or what you're looking to aim towards.

As a trained actor but a novice to auditioning for musical theatre productions, Mike was a lifesaver to work with. I always felt insecure about not knowing how to read music, yet Mike was able to simplify and translate the intimidating material. He also helped bring out my inner self to the work. Will always go to him if I find myself in a musical pickle! Of course, what do you expect from a teacher who carries the music in his soul wherever he goes...

There have been so many times Mike has helped me with my vocals. Not only for audition prep, but even for times when I felt like I was struggling with my vocals during a show. The great thing about Mike is that he makes you feel so comfortable. Not only does he know exactly what he’s talking about, he is an excellent teacher and is incredibly encouraging as well. Any time I need an instructor, someone to help me prepare for an audition, or someone to give me feedback on a performance, he is the person I turn to.

Mike is such a talented singer/teacher. For many years I have been lucky to have around when I needed someone to explain any type of music for me. They have such an ear for music, successful finding music for you within your range, and some challenging ones that they know with practice you’ll be able to sing. There loving nature and patience makes them the best instructor. Making you feel safe and warm, with a lovely smile and a voice for miles. I cannot read music but while working with mike on a personal level I was able to pick up a few tricks of the trade, while gaining confidence in my own singing abilities. All around an AMAZING person to work with.

"“I cannot recommend Ophelia Wolf any higher as an acting coach and stage director. I worked with her privately on staging all of my audition arias. Her genius is connecting your unique story to the character. She knows intuitively how to break down emotional/body tension to free up performance and discover your truth. She has a flexible formula for analyzing characters and making them immediately personal to you.
As a German native speaker, she prepared me for all of my audition trips to Germany. With her guidance in perfecting diction and conversational style, I gave a confident tour. I also sought out her method when giving a series of masterclasses on how to interpret characters.
We worked together right before my first audition for the Met, and I got the job! You’ll love working with this director who has experience working with the greatest opera houses in the world."
