I am a professional pianist with a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Juilliard School, and currently working on my Doctoral of Musical Arts at Manhattan School of Music. I have worked with several world-renowned pianists including Robert McDonald, Horacio Gutierrez, and Haesun Paik. Their influence not only helped me develop as a pianist but also taught me how to teach and showed me the impact of truly masterful teacher can have on their students.

I serve as a piano faculty member at Bronx Conservatory of Music and Lindeblad School of Music, in addition to teaching private students. I have taught students at varying levels of experience and from varying backgrounds, ranging from 4-year-old to adult. Some of them had their very first piano lesson with me and others are promising concert pianists at Juilliard pre-college.

I have been immersed in music schools and music training my entire life, and through the years I have learned what teaching methods are effective and which ...

I like that Ms. Julie can be both kind and challenging. My son always comes out of his lesson sounding better and excited to learn more, which for me as a parent is the most I can hope for. I have also heard her play and wow - she is the real deal! I'm so glad we found her, and would definitely recommend her to anyone!

We will work on whatever style the student will like to learn! If they are a beginner, we will go through all of the basics slowly and very thoroughly. I like to start by having my students get familiar with the piano and exploring all of the sounds it can make. Students will learn how to identify notes on the piano and also through reading music. Lessons will always be fun and engaging!

About Matt

I attended West Chester University from 2011-2015 and graduated with my bachleor's in music education. I performed in the marching band, symphonic band, wind ensemble, jazz ensembles, various trumpet ensembles, and a brass quintet. One of my trumpet ensembles made it to the semifinals in the Nation

"Confidently instills a love for piano!

I could not have asked for a better first piano teacher for my five year old! Miss Susan challenges Hailey just enough to keep her focused but not overwhelmed. Miss Susan has a calm, confident way of teaching that would put any child at ease and ready to learn! We are less than a month into lessons and Hailey will go to the piano at home, without any prompting, and play through her lesson book. The combination of a smart little girl and a good teacher have started a love for piano playing !"
