I've been teaching music for 15 yrs on guitar, piano, bass, cello and bass. My students have ranged from from 5yrs to 75yrs of age. I have seen many student go on to join orchestras, bands, broadway shows or simply continued their education to a university or college. Being able to read music profeciently has given me the opportunity to teach off many method books but like to use Alfred Method, Mel Bay and Frederick Noad Method books. I teach many styles ranging from classical, jazz & blues, rock, contemporary and pop. I do stress and recommend all my students to learn how to read music and usually by our second or third lesson they will playing simple songs. I am here to help you make music!

About Omar

Knowing that you are looking for a instructor to teach you music puts a smile on my face. You see, music has been a part of my life since the age of 3. Some of my first memories are of me accompanying my father at home with his rehearsals or just singing together to have fun as a family. I believe

Amy is a fantastic teacher with a clear and concise way of laying out lessons. I've played piano for nearly three decades, but have no base in cello, and she uses that common language to help me understand this new instrument. As a musician, teacher, and student I'm very impressed and pleased with her instruction!
Larry
Lessons with Amy have been wonderful. She provides great instruction and clear thorough simple feedback to questions. The pace she has used to add things has really fit well with me and my practice schedule. I have enjoyed the time very much.
Monica
Amy is the best extracurricular teacher my kids have ever had...and I have 5 kids. She is very kind and supportive. She looks for the good and praises it. She is organized, punctual and methodical. She helps my child stay on task to make excellent use of their time together. She gives good demonstrations of proper technique. My child is learning well and sticking with it. I would recommend her to anyone and brag about Amy often.

I provide a fun experience of learning to play and share music. My philosophy in working with students is to curb their interests with my vision for their success with technique and musicality. I want my student to not only become good cellist, but also enjoy music on a theoretical and historical level. My overall goal is to make a connection with people that will last and music can be an outlet for growing as a person.

About Carrie

Carrie recently relocated back to Davis California from Ann Arbor Michigan where she freelanced and taught cello at schools and in her private studio. After finishing her masters at Florida State University, she has performed with the Jackson Symphony, South West Symphony Orchestra, and West Sympho

Eddie is a world class musician and teacher. He is able to communicate his immense knowledge and passion for music clearly and accessibly online. I have been playing cello since retirement and began searching for teachers online in January. I have tried working with several people online and Eddie is the only teacher that has helped me progress in this time. I hope to continue working with him until I can play the Prokofiev concerto!

"Maria has been my cello teacher for 6 years. She has made learning the cello so much fun and such a great part of me life. She is very positive and sweet even when I mess up and she helps me feel good about my mistakes. She looks at what I do well and gets me excited about working on the songs. She always helps me stay in perfect pitch and helps me prepare for when songs get harder, by making sure I have good tequnique. She always knows what to work on to make my lesson as successful as possible. After six years of playing with her I am playing this amazing and beautiful music. The Bach Cello concertos and the other songs I play make me feel so happy relaxed and filled with joy. She loves the cello and being a musician. And every time you go to her lesson, you just feel the love she has for the instrament and the music and how she wants to share that feeling with you and help you have the same feeling. Maria is the reason I can play so well and she is also the reason I have continued to play for so long and will continue to play for the rest of my life. I am so happy that I have the most amazing, loveing and fun teacher in the world. I think everyone thinking of playing an instrament should choose cello just so they can take lessons with Maria. My lesson is the highlight of my week.

"I have taught with Kristen this past year in an elite high school setting. She was responsible for groups of 6-10 students for sectionals. She was demanding of good intonation and musicianship, and, with her lovely personality, the students were inspired to try their very best. I have observed her teach many levels, from beginners to advanced students. She is able to pinpoint problems, and correct them with creative solutions. I would choose Kristen to teach my child."

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
