I want to help you be the best percussionist you can be. With percussion, there are so many different instruments to play but what ties it all together is the technique you use to play the instruments.

Here’s my secret! To get the best, most resonant sound out of any instrument I strike. That’s it.

How you do that is dependent on the instrument, the mallet choice, the striking area, the touch, and many other factors. I want to help you with these so you can progress faster, learn how to think about these choices quicker and easier, so you can make BETTER music FASTER!

Percussion instruments are great! The percussion section has many unique instruments you can learn. I am so excited to teach you more about the percussion instruments. I am an interactive teacher who can assist you in many ways in regards to learning how to play the percussive instruments including; correct posture, new breathing techniques, correct fingerings, alternative fingerings, half-hole technique, improved sight-reading skills, greater music theory knowledge, and performance skills. I recommend using the Essential Elements for Band book series. Once we connect and I can find out more about your playing level we can find the perfect book for your. Teaching Percussion Is My Specialty.. Been Playing & Performing For 35 years now!

Beginning to Intermediate Percussion lessons and beats that are actually used in today's and yesteryear's "hit songs".

It's no secret, percussion is the backbone or "foundation" to
any hit song.

I break down percussion to its most basic rudiments so that
you will grow by leaps and bounds instead of just crawling
along.

You have to walk before you can run so getting it right initially is very important to moving forward and getting you playing your favorite songs quickly and accurately..

I've got a drum set, a djembe, and a dumbek in my studio. Along with many shakers, a wooden fish, lots of sticks, tambourines.... We can start at the beginning of counting to four or work out of the the book Pure Rhythm by Adam Rudolph if you are really into advanced Polyrhythms.

In lessons we'll train technique and theory right alongside the ear with the objective of being able to play from your authentic self.
In addition I studied with the Jazz legend and esteemed educator Stefon Harris (currently leading the Manhatttan School of Music). We will use his innovative theory and ear training techniques to learn the most basic mechanics of music.
