Lessons are fun. My philosophy is that students should have music in their lives and benefit from the lessons they take now for years to come. Learning to play a musical instrument will help students with math skills, study habits, and develop a skill that will last for a lifetime.
After 3 months students will understand the fundamentals of their string instrument, know how to care for their instrument, warm up properly, be able to read and play introductory passages. After 6 months the student will have learned basic music theory, how to read music, and have advanced through playing multiple songs.
Music is the biggest passion in my life. I love being able to share that gift with my students, and look forward to their progress as much as my own. I continue to grow and develop as a musician, and love connecting with people through music. My students all learn to love and appreciate music, theory and performing as I share my knowledge and expertise.
I have degrees in Violin, Viola and Vocal Performance, that I earned while on full scholarship for music. I started violin as a young child with the Suzuki Method and later added viola. I began singing professional gigs while still in high school, and was the youngest member ever with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Chorus at 17. I also have extensive experience singing in non-classical groups and bands and am comfortable performing and teaching musical theater, pop, country,
opera, operetta, and church music. With solid vocal technique my students are able to cross genres with ease, and sing whatever inspires them musically.
I currently play as a principle violinist with the La Jolla Symphony, and have also played as a section viola for the LJSO, sung with the San Diego Master Chorale and the San Diego Symphony. I was concertmaster in several symphony orchestras and have played as section leader for viola in numerous groups. I also play in and manage a string quartet and am also currently coaching small group string ensembles. My siblings and I have played in our family string quartet for over 20 years, and still perform together. Most recently I was chosen to record a new song Glow for Disneyland's California Adventure World of Color Winter Dreams.
I am comfortable teaching with various different methods, and cater lesson plans to the individual student. With over 18 years of teaching experience, I have taught students that vary in age from 3 to 75 years old, and am very comfortable with teaching children and individuals with special needs.
*** Lesson Details *** Lessons are fun. My philosophy is that students should have music in their lives and benefit from the lessons they take now for years to come. Learning to play a musical instrument will help students with math skills, study habits, and develop a skill that will last for a lifetime.
After 3 months students will understand the fundamentals of their string instrument or voice, know how to care for their instrument, warm up properly, be able to read and play/sing introductory passages. After 6 months the student will have learned basic music theory, how to read music, and have advanced through playing/singing multiple songs.
*** Travel Equipment *** I have a violin and viola that I bring to assist in teaching lessons. I expect that the students provide an instrument and their books. A keyboard or piano is essential for voice students for vocalization. A student need not know how to play piano in order to take voice lessons.
*** Specialties *** Vocal students are encouraged to pick songs from whatever genre sparks their interest. With violin and viola I use the suzuki method of training and follow the books and lessons, I use other books to supplement scales/technique.
Betsy is a wonderful violin instructor, and we found her sense of play, imagination, balanced with the need to instruct a good fit for our three year old daughter. Thank you Betsy for your patience and flexibility!

Leah had a wonderful first lesson with Betsy! She provided great instruction and made her feel comfortable. Thanks so much!

Betsy was my daughter's viola teacher for almost 2 years. She was consistently fun, nice, supportive, knowledgeable, and professional. We recommend her highly.
My primary expertise is in teaching beginners to low intermediate students but I gladly accept students of any level.
Classically trained, energetic, experienced and creative music teacher with a proven ability to get the very best out of pupils; experienced in identifying the appropriate resources necessary for a subject matter and ensuring that they are used efficiently and effectively. Most of my students read and play simple music after 2-3 classes of active instruction.
I also specialize in special needs students.
All my musical knowledge and expertise was attained in Eastern Europe with an extensive music pedagogy training. I play and teach piano, upright bass, bass guitar and a range of other instruments. Over the years I taught basic piano, the beginner violin, viola, cello and a variety of school instruments such as recorder and xylophone. I also teach advanced music theory, harmony and basics of composition and orchestral arranging req
uired for music colleges. I especially find it rewarding working with beginners and the opportunity to show them the amazing world of listening, playing and making music.
The teaching begins with identifying student's musical needs, goals and tastes. Students are taught a stimulating, thorough, and graduated course of recital solos, theory, technical studies, and classic repertoire. For those wishing to pursue more of a classical approach to music, there are proven methods to accomplish that goal established by European master teachers and pedagogues. Also, I can teach the know-how of Jazz and Blues though gradual lessons that cover basic theory, scales and chords up to melody and harmony development.
*** Lesson Details *** The learning process should be, for the most part, fun and based upon a strong relationship between the teacher and the student. Curriculum and lesson plans are based on student's abilities and aspirations with appropriate balance between theoretical and practical work. The lesson material is always carefully chosen, and when necessary, adapted to specific learning needs.
With a proper approach, everyone can learn to play music. Whether you want to pursue a music career, or just play for fun and enjoyment I can help you attain your goals. From basic piano and stringed instruments, to advanced theory, harmony, composition and improvisation to jazz, pop and rock.
Classes are not based on a single source or book. I provide other exercises in printed form for students to keep and take home.
*** Studio Equipment *** Extensive e-library and ability to print any required material on the spot. Instant access to many on-line sheet music resources. Two high end digital keyboards, two violins, viola, cello, upright bass, bass guitar and amplifier, music stands, stereo equipment with a large CD collection of just any conceivable music style.. Assorted school instruments: recorder (soprano and tenor), xylophone. Various music charts and a large library of music resources and other books;
*** Travel Equipment *** Full size and a school grade digital keyboards , bass guitar, amplifier, staff paper and other printed resources, violin, viola, spare parts, maintenance tools and equipment.
*** Specialties *** Pop, Classical, Jazz, Ethnic and Modal music, Composition, Arranging, Harmony, Counterpoint, Advanced Music Theory
Peter has exceeded my expectations, I look forward for my lesson every week. I honestly can say He is the best teacher I’ve ever had. I am a 44 yo violin beginner student who has had 5 teachers in the last 6 years, I didn’t learn much with them, this been said, with Peter in just 3 months I feel I have learned more than my other teachers. Peter is so, so patient and extremely professional. I am very pleased to have found such a wonderful teacher.

Peter is always on time, patient with beginners, and gives valuable guidance.

Peter has been teaching bass to our son for several years and our son has become quite proficient. It's a bonus that Peter is unfailingly upbeat, professional, and a pleasure to have around. He truly loves music and conveys his appreciation to his students - so much so that now my husband is taking cello lessons from Peter, too.
Like many violin teachers, I love teaching the viola! It's a gorgeous instrument, and I have had the pleasure of playing viola in chamber groups, teaching many young viola students, and collaborative with violists regularly in chamber music settings. Whether you're a beginning student, are looking for a practice coach, or want help with excerpts, I can't wait to get started!
A passionate educator and Suzuki trained teacher, I teach individual and group classes with Suzuki Strings of Austin, violin and viola students at Bedichek Middle School, and run a private violin and viola home studio in Austin and online.
In violin lessons with me, you can expect the focus to go far beyond the technical aspects of the violin, encouraging each student to flourish and reach their full potential. I believe that every student has the ability, drive, and capacity to succeed at, love, and learn from the violin. Whether you're an adult new to the instrument, a young child trying out music lessons for the first time, or an older student returning to the instrument after a few years off, violin lessons will serve as a meaningful musical outlet, a way to discover self-directed learning, and a way to engage with an entire commun
Abi is a great teacher. She always comes up with very practical methods to improve my specific skills and I benefit a lot from here. And you can feel her teaching passion too!

Abigail was an enthusiastic teacher who helped spread her love of the violin. She is classically trained and works on the fundamental skills a young violinist needs. Our child enjoyed her sense of humor as well.
I love the viola; I'm primarily a violist and love nothing more. I would love to share my passion with you or your child!
I have a Master's degree in Viola Performance, and viola is my primary instrument. I have received extensive instruction on the minutiae of the viola, and can help you with any need that you many have!
I tailor my approach to each student. Some students require more technical work, some require interpretive. Both are fascinating and can be taught with structure and clarity.
Hi! My name is Martina and I am a classically trained violist. For my background, I received a Master of Music from Roosevelt University, where I studied with Lawrence Neuman of the Chicago Symphony. I received an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin with Sally Chisholm of the Pro Arte quartet.
The only thing I love more than playing viola is sharing the joy of music with others! I've received training on violin and viola and can't wait to start teaching you or your child.
*** Lesson Details *** I tailor my approach to each student to make sure that: 1.) The student is getting exactly what he/she wants out of the lessons. 2.) The lessons are an appropriate difficulty for the student. 3.) A student's strengths and weaknesses are being addressed with a tailor-made lesson plan and long-term goals.
Travel Equipment *** I can provide a stand. Student is responsible for purchasing an instrument, and any sheet music. I can definitely advise on an instrument to purchase and will instruct with specific music requests.
During the first lesson we will get acquainted and you can tell me about your history with the instrument and what you would like to learn. Then I will come up with fun technique building exercises so you can play with ease. Then we usually work on a goal piece. For the piece I will give you practice methods and ways to play through the pieces with a beautiful tone. Viola is fun and expect to have a great time!
I began playing the violin at age 7 and I have enjoyed every moment since! I switched to the viola at age 19 and pursued both a bachelor's and master's in Viola Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music. Music is always a journey and I have been lucky enough to perform in Germany, Denmark, Japan, China, and even in Carnegie Hall! I have been teaching for over 13 years and I have had students go on to play in Carnegie Hall, attend Interlochen Summer Arts Festival, and pursue degrees in music. There is so much joy in music and I try to always help students discover their own voice trough refining technique and constant shifts in perspective to solve problems and move forward. Music should always be fun and ultimately I want to give students the skills to teach themselves and to become their
own musical force! Discover your inner musical power, learn to trust your ear, and have fun getting lost in the music!
I specialize in, viola, violin, and viola d'amore.
My husband and I were extremely pleased with the progress our son Thomas made with Dan. Thomas started playing last year and was progressing faster than the rest of his third grade class which is why we were looking for a private teacher to help him along. Before taking lessons with Dan I had a hard time getting Thomas to practice. Thomas has begun practicing all on his own because he has been genuinely inspired. Dan is a true professional who always on time and in a good mood to teach. He was so patient with Thomas and developed practice techniques unique to Thomas's situation. Dan is more than just a violin teacher, he is dedicated to inspiring each student to love music. Thanks Dan!!!
I teach viola using the Suzuki method, with an emphasis on technique and intonation.
I am Andy. I am a graduate of the California Institute of the Arts with a BFA degree in Composition/Violin Performance. I will be attending school again in the Fall to get my teaching certificate to teach in the public school system. My violin playing has been featured on Glee, with Kevin Olusola (Pentatonix), and guitar featured on shows like Rachel Ray and Dr. Phil. My main passions are songwriting, and collaborating with other great musicians all over the country.
I have been a private music teacher for the past 8 years and it has been an extremely rewarding journey. My students love their lessons with me, and parents love that I am patient and more open-minded than most music teachers out there. Students say I am friendly and funny, and fun to learn with. My teaching style on the violin is centered around the Suzuki method, but I l
eave a lot of flexibility to cater lessons around your interests. If you ask to play a certain song, I will find a way to help you play it. Every goal is achievable with practice, dedication, and fun!
Andy always manages to motivate my daughter and get her to enjoy playing her viola, which is no mean feet! She looks forward to the lessons and has improved greatly over the last couple of years.

Andy has been teaching my son piano for the last two years. My son always looks forward to going to piano with Andy and he has made so much progress. Andy is very communicative about my son's progress and ideas he has for new goals. Andy is very good at helping my son keep his enthusiasm for piano. He is also sensitive about where my son is at in terms of what he needs to strengthen or if any adjustments need to be made. I highly recommend Andy, not only as a music teacher, but as a person with whom you would want yourself or children to spend time with each week.

One of the best Cello instructors in the region. I strongly endorse this talented man.
Experienced Music teacher of 8 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of their instrument and theory skills. I specialize in all styles. Typically, I use a variety of method books to pick from to meet the needs of the students. I also have many tools available to use during lessons. My students have gone on to NYSSMA and on to college auditions successfully!
I have been teaching private lessons since 2008, but have been studying music since I was only 4 with non stop private and in school lessons. I now have my Bachelor's degree in Music education and am working toward my Masters in Music performance and Instruction.
I love working with my students. Watching them succeed at what they do is what makes my day great. I always love to have a fun atmosphere around me and enjoy every minute it. Music is great for self expression a great Escape or an easy pass-time. It's nothing that should be stressful, but the opposite and that is what my lessons aim to do. Provide an educational, but fun and expressive learning experience to carry with you or your child throughout your lives.
I Love to teach viola, because I love the way this instrument sounds. Everyone thinks it is just like violin but actually there is so many different way to bowing and tech from violin. My goal is make hear how viola sounds, it can actually even touching then cello and violin in some melo piece .
I am Cristina, Violin Piano Music teacher, recording artist and educator. Classical trained from Piano and Violin when I was 5 and switched to viola after high school. I earned Advanced Certificate and Music Performance Master degreed from New York University where I also teach private lesson as an adjunct. I had also performed at major music festival such as in Norway, Czech Republic and Korea. I have taught students of all ages from 3 to teenager and adults. and have prepared students for ABRSM exams, NYSSMA exams, specialized middle school and high school auditions, pre-college programs and other auditions. Of course, I have also taught students who are learning just for themselves from reading sheet music. I like to teach students the method and tip to practice, and encourage student challenge something new techniques , and most
important is expression from music. I love to help students to reach their goal or giving them practice tips. Have fun with music.
My son has been taking lessons from Cristina for 2 years and wow has he progressed. He loves his lessons, can read music, and is playing well. The struggle is getting him to practice! Cristina has a great blend of warmth, knowledge and discipline that works well for my 6,7, and now 8 year old son. I highly recommend her.

Our 8 year old had been taking violin for two years and was about to the point of quitting due to the lack of motivational teaching. I went in search of a teacher that could motivate her while still progressing rapidly each week! My daughter is so eager to please Cristina, because she makes the lessons fun and interesting. When I check in to see how the lesson is going, my daughter is engaged, and answering questions correctly which tells me she's still paying attention - even in the evening hours when she's tired. Cristina mixes classical and popular music as well. I still have to ask my daughter to practice each night but she pulls out her violin on her own a couple of times a week as well. It's a complete 180 from where we were 8 months ago. Cristina is a rare find and I'd recommend her to anyone who wants to ensure their child is getting the best violin training while being inspired!

Our 11 year old daughter, Drew, started with Cristina for a little over a year, and has made some amazing progress from not knowing how to play, to having great intonation and musicality. Cristina teaches our daughter in a way that works with her interests and learning style, rather than having a regimented curriculum. I think this has allowed Drew to be way more excited about playing.
i've been playing music all my life but since i'm a square parent, it's hard for me to teach drew :) Cristina does a great job giving her guidance during the lesson.
i would highly recommend her as a teacher!
