I have been practicing yoga, pranayama (breathwork) and meditation for 10 years. Through yoga, I have healed myself from the ailments of chronic anxiety and its related physical symptoms, and my practice is largely based around strengthening the body while calming the mind. My knowledge also expands into the field of Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga which encompasses diet and lifestyle. These classes tend to be pretty chill, but can get more intense if the student requests it; one class can definitely serve as the only workout you'll need in a day. Feel free to reach out, and see what improving your life through yoga is all about! Eli
I have been practicing yoga for nine years, and I recently completed my 200-hour teacher training and certification through My Vinyasa Practice (RYS). I am currently working toward my 300-hour advanced teacher training. My lessons are very beginner-friendly! I will cater each sequence toward you and your preferences. All types of people from all walks of life welcome...whether you are working toward your splits or managing anxiety, let me know your goals, and we will work on them together!
I teach yoga for people who are very new to yoga and want to ease their way into their practice. I also help those who have yoga experience to enhance their practice. I will create personalized yoga sequences based on your goals. I will coach you on proper body alignment and teach you about breathwork. The style of yoga I practice is vinyasa.
I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, having completed a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS). I have a carefree and easy-going demeanor and my ability to articulate when cueing poses helps make yoga accessible to all students ranging from beginner to advanced. I love technology and enjoy teaching virtually as well as in person! I created a private studio to share my passion with others. As a high school Spanish teacher, I love being creative and making each class fun and unique, traits I bring to my yoga teaching. During the pandemic, I founded the Yoga Club for the high school students, offered weekly Zoom yoga classes to her fellow staff members, and now continue to teach yoga to both students and adults. Each week, I teach online classes to people in the community, in-person classes at Midtown Athletic Club, and do mindfulness workshops for students and teachers. I train weekly with a mentor teacher as well as take yoga classes from other teachers to gain new ideas and strengthen my own practice.
Elizabeth became very aware of the importance of Mind-Body connection and began her Yoga practice from the age of 14 parallel to her intense musical studies, continuing through her college years. She is now completing her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Certification and tutors privately. In 2022, she intended intensive Hatha Yoga courses at a Yoga und Wellness Retreat in Steiermark, Austria with a certified teacher trained in Rishikesh, India. Elizabeth likes to incorporate different styles of yoga to increase flexibility, strength, steady breathing, and to increase muscle tone, as well as to reduce daily stress and gain a greater sense of relaxation and well-being. Yoga = Feel Good!
Come breathe and flow with me in either private or group yoga sessions! We will explore a wide range of asanas that will benefit the mind, body and open the heart. Attention will be given to the correct forms of each pose so as to prevent injury and maintain healthy joints. Through relatable imagery, I will guide the student into poses that offer proper alignment, twists, hip openers and backbends, just to name a few. We will also explore varying breathing techniques and learn how to use our breath in relation to our flow. Some light meditation will also be introduced to promote a peace within. We will always start with a thorough warm up in order to prepare the muscles for strength conditioning. The warm up and cool down will directly correlate to the poses being taught, so as to prevent injury. Correct form will always be enforced. After the warm up, a typical class could involve Sun Salutations, standing and seated asanas. Varying flows will be taught each week giving focus to specific muscle groups and/or proper alignment of the spine. All levels will benefit as I love to challenge my students with as much as they can handle. I also love to give variations to choose from, so that all will feel comfortable and welcome. One of the learning objectives will be to focus the mind and learn to be present in the given moment. Mental, physical and emotional awareness should build within the child as they grow in their practice. This knowledge should prove helpful to the child on and off the mat. Differing variations of Sun Salutations will be clearly taught to give the student a versatility within their flow. A wide variety of beginner and intermediate asanas in their correct forms will be introduced/practiced each week. This will include both seated positions for flexibility and standing positions for strength and balance. I am a qualified Hatha and Vinyassa Yoga Instructor and spent 1 month doing intensive training with yogis in Thailand. There I attained my 200 hour teacher certification. In the program, I received thorough training in how to teach the correct forms of each asana, in order to protect the body from injuries (knees, spine, neck, wrists etc). I highly recommend having water accessible during practice, although it is recommended in yoga to hydrate mostly beforehand and afterwards, so as to allow the heat to build within the body. But as this is a virtual class, I encourage the child to drink as much as they need! Please be aware of potential injuries that could incur if the child doesn’t follow the given instruction correctly. That said, this class is very safe and I will carefully lead the child into each pose taught. If you feel more comfortable, feel free to join the child for class so that you are nearby to help guide as well.
