About Trevor
Every musician was first and foremost a fan of music. My love of
music began when my mother took me to a performance of Beethoven's
fifth symphony when, coincidentally, I was five. From that point, I
started fervently listening to my mother's records (those are the
huge, black monstrosities that people in the pre-historic used in
place of iPods), followed closely by my father's CD collection.
After a while, this ravenous desire of to know and feel music moved
me to play an instrument. After a couple of false starts with the
drums and violin, I found my true musical calling: the guitar.

On January 25th 1995, on a whim, I began playing the
guitar, and I have yet to put it down. Along the way I've picked up
a number of friends for my guitar, including the bass, the lute, the
sitar and, once again, the drums. After on
ly a few years of
practice, I started playing professionally, in bands and solo guitar.
Live playing experience, I believe, is the most important experience
that any musician can have, in that, the most important part of music
is how it sounds, and playing in front of people is the quickest way
to learn how to play effectively. And this is what I teach; how to
be a musician, not just a technician.

*** Lesson Details ***
A student can expect a curriculum tailor-made to their needs and personality. Every person learns differently and this is an important distinction in my teaching style. Some students need a strong hand to keep them working, others need to find many different ways to the same conclusion to keep them focused, while still others need a laid-back friend in order to accept knowledge.

I stress rhythmic literacy, for, as my jazz teacher always said, "rhythm is king." If composition is important to you, then we'll focus on music theory, but if you're just wanting to learn how to play some fun rock tunes with your friends on the weekends, we can do that as well. As I stated before, we'll get you playing in front of people in no time.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide an amplifier, a loner guitar (if needed), staff and/or tablature paper, metronome, pens and paper for the lessons.

*** Specialties ***
Music theory and composition, guitar, bass, lute, beginner to intermediate piano
Classical, shred, blues, and rock guitar; renaissance lute; blues, rock and slap bass; composition of many styles; world music.

CA Standard Credential from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I have been tutoring and teaching students for many years. My goal is to reduce anxiety in learning a subject and to give students the tools and knowledge they need to study on their own.

Most of my students are tutored in math. Usually my students suffer from math anxiety. They believe that they are bad in math. I help them to use previous knowledge to build on the current material. By the end of the sessions, they feel good about themselves and their math abilities.

I also have a Certificate in College Counseling from UCLA. I help students prepare for college/career from grade 9 through grade 12. I help with standardized tests, entrance tests, college applications and federal funding.

Tania is being a great tutor. My interest is to brush up my French after 10 years w/o any practice - focused on conversation. I am really appreciating the classes with her. She brings the right balance correcting what is needed but with encouragement and positiveness to keep you confident and engaged.

I highly recommend anyone who is either a beginner, or any level of French to use Tania as a tutor. I started to learn French at a very basic level and currently I feel very comfortable with the basics of the language. What I like the most about my lessons with Tania is that French is used throughout the duration of the lesson, which really helps one to be submerged into the language.

Tania has been working with me on my level. I have learned a lot and she has also refreshed my memory of what I had learned a few years back. Her classes are very practical. There is tons of conversation and grammar. I am able to apply what I learn right away. My comprehension has improved a lot as well. One of my favorite things is that she is a native speaker so I learn a more practical French with common day-to-day expressions, with many things I won't get from book. Very recommended!

Hi, my name is Sophie and I am originally from Belgium. French is my native language and I have over ten years of teaching experience!
I obtained my bachelor degree in education in 2004 and taught languages in a middle school until 2010-from which I got tenure. I then moved to San Diego with my husband when he was offered a job as a researcher at UCSD. My experience also includes teaching one-on-one, semi-private lessons and groups, teaching in China, volunteering in French-American schools, etc.
I love teaching French and my goal is for you to love learning it!
I believe you learn best when you have fun so I try for my lessons to be interactive (dialogues, flashcards, games...) and to make you speak as much as possible!
Depending on your level and interests we will use different texts, news articles, etc. and will progressively l
earn grammar and vocabulary in a natural and enjoyable way!
I am a happy mother of two young boys, I love hiking, yoga, traveling and playing music! I consider myself outgoing and I enjoy meeting people!
I am looking forward to start our French lessons together!

About Kazumasa
I am a Japanese national and have been living in the United States since 2001. I studied at Shizuoka University in Japan and my major was education. My courses focused on international culture and the classes prepared me to teach the Japanese language and culture to foreigners.

I am currently teaching more than 20 classes a week including classes at a language school and private tutoring, So far, through the many years of being a tutor, l taught and am still currently teaching Americans, British, Chinese, Koreans, Filipinos and others, ranging from elementary students to retirees privately and tutored them in various aspects of Japanese depending on their individual needs through English instruction.

The thing I love most about tutoring is seeing the face and eyes of a student that has been having a difficult time with a lesson, w
hen he/she finally grasps what I have been trying to teach them. Another favorite thing about tutoring is watching the evolution of a student over time and knowing that I am solely responsible for that progression. I am very thorough and patient when it comes to tutoring my students. I will go to any length to make sure that whatever it is that I am teaching them will be absorbed by them resulting in their betterment, thereby building a sound foundation from which to build.

Let's start broadening your Japanese conversation by talking about what interests you the most right now! Please feel free to contact me to help you achieve your goals!

Really great Sensei! Knowledgeable, Kind, Thoughtful & Polite. Mr. Kazumasa worked with me personally to design a curriculum and improve my Reading/Speaking/Listening&Understanding abilities drastically over 4 months in preparation for my language test. I had not used Japanese for more than 10 years, but with Mr. Kazumasa's patience, and dedication, I gained much needed confidence and performed very well. He goes above and beyond to ensure your success.

Hello. I'm so happy to have an opportunity to uncover the artist in you. I was born and grew up in Moscow, Russia. Every generation of my big family had an artist not as a professional but as a reflection of the soul. My grandfather opened this wonderland for me, he drew everywhere and on everything. Here is one little story from my mom. When she was a first-grade student, the classmates who had a high score were awarded the beautiful pictures drawn on notebook cover by my grandpa. Everyone did their best to get the higher score to get a beautiful picture. Mother was very proud of him.
I came to the US in 2011. I left my habitual life and started finding myself in the different world. I live in San Diego and traveling a lot. I opened art studio and acrylic painting event for Russian community and not only in San Diego and did not expec
t such demand.

Painting makes my life full and interesting, helps me relax and find balance. I became an Art Instructor with the desire to give the opportunity to feel it to everybody.
