I want to serve as a supportive and instructional figure that helps cultivate an appreciation of music for all students. In order to do this, I believe it's important to prioritize personal student progress rather than subscribe to a fixed game plan. That being said I take on a relaxed adaptive teaching style that tailors to the student. It's my hope that all students feel comfortable working and discussing music topics with me as I believe thoughtful conversations, whether straightforward or abstract, is an essential learning technique.

About Kristin

I am a classically trained violist and string instrument enthusiast, born and raised in the Chicagoland area. I attended and graduated from Western Michigan University with a BM in music performance and have since worked as a music teacher in San Diego. I am the strings director at Double Peak Scho

Acquiring good habits and building confidence are invaluable when it comes to studying an instrument and when playing with others. Each student brings their own unique personality to the lesson process and therefore requires a different approach to learning. I encourage students to rely on their individual strengths regardless of any specific method or philosophy of teaching. It is extremely rewarding to see the joy as students not only reach milestones, but ultimately become their own best teachers!

About Cornelia

I am a graduate of the Juilliard School and a frequent guest artist and faculty member at the nations’ leading festivals and summer programs. Having taught for over 20 years, I have an extensive background working with a wide range of students in private and group settings. In addition, I work clos

Many years ago I was coached in a chamber music setting by Cornelia (in one hour the piece had been wholly transformed), and when my daughter, then 6, came to me and said she wanted to play the violin, I knew exactly whom to call. I was a little worried then that Cornelia might not take beginners, but to my joy, her attitude is (excuse me for putting words in your mouth, Cornelia) "Of course I take beginners! How else to keep them from developing bad habits in the first place?" Fast forward to now: that 6 year-old became the concertmistress of the NEC Youth Symphony in Boston, has traveled around the country and around Asia playing the violin with the highly competitive National Youth Orchestra, and continues to play with excellent players to this day--and all because she was set on the right path by Cornelia, who is focused and kind. She's also demanding of excellence, and wildly enthusiastic about your progress. If you want to pay for lessons but don't really care about what kind of job you do, go somewhere else. Cornelia is the real deal. Violin isn't easy: if you want to start right, start here. If you want to get better, you've come to the right place. If you want really to think about the music you're playing, she's your guy. Plus she's got a great laugh.
Nancy
A consummate professional and gifted teacher. Her love of the instrument is infectious. Her sense of humor puts you at ease.

Cornelia is fantastic! We have been going to her for years. We have also heard from friends that she is the best violin teacher in the area. It would be hard not to agree. If you want to learn to play violin, she is the teacher for you. If you do not want to work hard and be accurate with your playing, then probably better to move on.

My name is Michael Nebeker, and I love the violin. I started playing nearly twenty years ago, and have been lucky enough to teach for the last ten. Here, I hope to let prospective and current students know more about me, ensembles I work with, and all things teaching.

Selecting a private teacher is a big decision, so take your time, explore my page, and see if I am a good fit. Here I am, at a glance:

-Everyone is welcome in my studio, regardless of age or ability. I teach both child and adult students.

-I studied at the University of Utah With Leonard Braus, John England, and Kasia Sokhol-Borup.

-I play with a number of ensembles in the Salt Lake valley from large scale symphony orchestras to small chamber ensembles and rock groups.

-Mindfulness is a core principal in my studio.

-Students play music THEY want to play, and are not required to subscribe to any methodology.

-Lessons with me are both comprehensive and tailored to the specific needs and goals of each ...

At 34, I decided to learn how to play the violin. I found Michael and never looked back! I told him I wanted to learn Bolero as my first song, and we learned Bolero! Michael is a relentless supporter of what the student is passionate about. He taught me not just how to pick up the instrument and make sound, but anything I asked to learn!

My favorite part about lessons with him is his positive feedback. He has a way of instructing that makes you feel proud of the progress you make, no matter your skill level.

I would recommend him to absolutely anyone.

"Recommendation

Ms. Chris is awesome. My son started taking lessons to see if he really liked the violin about 3 1/2 years ago and fell in love with the violin. I do believe he likes it simply because he has an AWESOME teacher. She pushes him when he needs to be pushed and encourages him to audition for performances. He has done a wonderful job and we highly recommend Ms. Chris Heins!"

I am a 58 years old violin student and I want to learn more about the violin so that I can play at my Church. Her classes are fantastic and I know I will be playing in front of the congregation soon. I highly recommend her style whether you are a child, young adult or older like me. IT IS FUN!!"

"Zebie is great! I'm an adult beginner with practically no music background. He is very patient and encouraging, having to teach me about music more broadly in addition to how to play the violin. He is certainly very knowledgeable about all things violin and experienced as well. I also really appreciate the fact that he seems to celebrate the connection between player and instrument, and teaches you about the instrument as well if you are interested. I'm sure you'll enjoy learning from him!"

"Brynn is patient and kind while always pushing my daughter to reach for her potential. Being in the military we move frequently enough that it has disrupted our daughters passion for the violin. Her current school lumps all kids together based on grade not skill and that has been "boring". We are happy to see not only new things learned but our daughter is back to finding songs and attempting to learn them and practicing during homework breaks. Brynn has been phenomenal and I highly recommend her to anyone that wants to learn and have fun."

Teach Yourself Violin in 8 Easy Steps

It takes years of determination, focus, and practice to master the violin. Many people start their musical education using a qualified instructor, but maybe you want to try to teach yourself violin. This is a huge undertaking with great potential for learning the wrong way of holding the violin, standing incorrectly, or practicing imperfect fingerings. However, if you want to understand the basics of learning your instrument before taking violin lessons with a teacher, here are a few introductor …
