I wrote a 5-star review for Art after I had only one or two lessons. After having taken 3 or 4 more, I felt the need to write another one. In his profile, he said his students advance quickly, and he backs that up ten-fold. If you are serious about learning or improving your voice, and you follow his directions, you will advance quickly and you won't even realize it is happening until you are alone and you belt something out that you didn't know you could do. When you are stuck, he knows just what to do. Bottom-line, he gets fast results! As a business executive and a veteran, that is the strongest compliment I can give.

Ms. Shirley has been teaching my two kids (daughter 9 & son 7) for almost 2 years now. She is very dedicated and passionate about music. She challenges my children to try hard and learn good habits. She is flexible in how she approaches both of their lessons given my daughter applies more focus and discipline to her piano than my son. She tries to find ways to keep my son encouraged and interested in learning. She is very accommodating at her home and gives my children space to do their homework. I am very pleased with Ms. Shirley's knowledge, capability and dedication to teaching piano. She is a wonderful teacher.

I have taken lessons with Xiaole for over 5 years now. She helps me to plan long term goals and to strive to play the best I can in performances and competitions. Also, she stresses forming good habits for studying for theory and practicing at home. One thing to note is that she is pretty strict. Overall, I would recommend Xiaole to anyone looking for a productive teacher.

Dillon is a first rate guitar instructor!

I've taken lessons with Dillon for 5 months, and he has helped me make tremendous progress. I was lucky to find Dillon because my music interests are all over the place. I wanted to learn about fingerstyle, soul, jazz, blues, Latin music, music theory, transcribing for bands. Dillon helped me with all of those. He's the kind of person whose has really studied the guitar and can distill the music from many styles into a few simple ideas for the guitar, and explain those ideas in a memorable way.

I'll continue taking lessons from him, and would recommend him as a teacher to anyone looking for a teacher with charisma.

I learned a lot from Marcel and liked his vision of how to redo the garden. The original garden was cluttered with overlapping plants and we discussed how to improve it. He pulled out his iPad and made several garden sketches that were helpful. The original garden was cluttered with overlapping plants and we decided to remove several of them and re-"orchestrate" the remaining ones. (We only bought new plants if they were needed to realize the new garden vision.) He is also a very hard worker, helping me (physically) transplant and add plants as required. For example, we transplanted a 100+ (?) pound Sago palm across the front yard. I would never have done that on my own (too heavy for me) but together we did it! Highly recommended. Bill

Music theory can be very difficult. If you need help with high school or early college level theory assignments or general studying, I would love to help. I really do love music theory, even though many musicians despise it. It's one of the reasons I went to college for music composition! I love the language of music.

About Andrew
Hello! I've been teaching music full-time for the past 10 years. I graduated music school in 2008, holding a Bachelors in music from Columbia College Chicago, a thriving arts school in the heart of downtown Chicago. There, I primarily concentrated on music composition and guitar, while also studying piano and drums. My parents were musicians and school teachers, so music teaching is very much in my blood. I've been playing and writing songs in bands since I was 12 years old. I recorded 3 original albums in high school, which is a very unique thing. I played shows everywhere in Chicago through college and upon graduating started a successful band called Minor Characters. We worked on albums with Beau Sorenson (Death Cab for Cutie, Superchunk, Bob Mould) at April Base Studios (Bon Iver), toured extensively, and was featured at South By Sout
hwest Music Festival in 2012 and 2013. This past year I spent recording a number of online guitar courses that are available through my business Make Some Noise, Inc.

I did all of this while maintaining a full schedule of music students, where I put on recitals at cool music venues and had kids and adults play together in duos, trios, or bands. I'd love to do the same thing here in Los Angeles!
