Let me start off by saying that math is my FAVORITE subject! In these tutoring sessions, you will receive help with homework, prepare for tests and quizzes, and better your overall understanding of math. I teach with patience and fun because I feel that this is the key to achieving goals and inspiring a good work ethic.
Thank you for your interest in lessons! I hope to help you achieve your goals and improve your skills, whether you're looking for music lessons, or help in math. Every student is a unique person who deserves a lesson customized to their individual needs. Each of my students prosper in an atmosphere of patience and encouragement. While the lessons are fun and enjoyable, the serious student will be supported in the development of skills leading to a rewarding career, and the more casual students will grow in an appreciation of knowledge that will enrich their lives.
I received my bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis on vocal performance at the University of Redlands in 2011 (which I attended on a music talent scholarship), and am now an active performer in Los Angeles, CA. I have been tutoring and teaching privat
e lessons for almost 10 years, and currently have over 40 active students.
I have played leading roles in several operas and musicals in Southern California, including Gianni Schicchi, Die Fledermaus, La Boheme (DTL nominee), The Impresario, The Tales of Hoffmann, The Grand Duke, Patience (DTL award), Cosi fan tutte, Little Women, Seussical, and many more. I have also appeared in several concerts, opera scenes, competitions (winning music scholarships and theater awards), and worked as a singer in churches, restaurants, and in pop bands. I continue to stay active in the performance industry, and I could never live without it!
With this experience under my belt, I feel a desire to pass on my knowledge to students. I carry a strong passion to help people develop their abilities and make them their own. I truly believe that if someone wants something out of life they will achieve it with dedication, perseverance, confidence, and by having FUN doing it!

Dr. Cliff believes that, although many professors and teachers do an admirable job in the classroom, many students and children do not learn well in traditional institutions. Many students and children don't respond to the assembly line nature of most institutions. He believes that a student's or child's strengths and natural abilities need to be the foundation of learning. Dr. Cliff often warns against a "cookie cutter" approach to educating students, teenagers and children. You or your child is seen as an individual, and natural strengths are identified and built upon. Therefore, individual one-on-one tutoring or help is the key approach to each student who has any challenges difficulties in a given subject.
In today’s environment and economic challenges, with shorter budgets for the education, larger classes sizes and pressure of performing well in all kind of standard tests, I often see many students lacking true knowledge and skills in a given subject, since they cannot get individualized attention during the class session. That’s where a tutor comes into the picture, not only uncover major “holes” in students’ knowledge set but also teach students how to study, how to learn and through proper guidance “fill” those knowledge and skills holes.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from St. Norbert College, and I am currently studying for a PhD in statistics at University of California, Irvine. My goal is to encourage students to enjoy STEM subjects, especially mathematical sciences because they are such a beautiful way to understand the world. Math is so much more than algebra and geometry, and, if it is truly understood, even those subjects can be illuminating in how we understand the world.
I am a Ph.D. student in Statistics and earned a Bachelor's in mathematics from St. Norbert College in 2016. I have been tutoring for over 10 years now, starting with a my work as a Program Staff at the local Boy's and Girl's Club. Now I just enjoy working with students one-on-one and in small groups.
I love teaching and plan on being a professor after finishing my Ph.D. Further, I am trying to develop classes that students will enjoy and be able to take with them. I hate when I hear people say that they hated stats or math because of this class they had when they were younger. My goal is to change that by creating a learning system that is enjoyable and efficient.
I want to help students gain understanding into the problems they solve: I do not want to teach them simply how to solve problems, but more fundamentally why problems can be solved in particular ways. In doing so, I want to enable students to become true problem solvers who think logically and creatively.
I am trained in philosophy (B.A., University of North Texas, and M.A., Biola University) and have been teaching/tutoring for over five years in math, reading, writing, SAT/ACT, and critical thinking/problem solving. I have taught a wide range of ages, from elementary to graduate students, and in classrooms of 100+ students to one-on-one lessons. Ultimately, I love to learn and teach, and I have a passion for helping others achieve their goals.
My students can expect to learn to think well about the subject we study together. We will not simply pursue the knowledge of how to, for example, solve some math problem, but we will also seek to understand why we can solve it this or that way. So, we will pursue both knowledge and understanding. When students have understanding, they are much better prepared to apply what they have learned to oth
er similar problems. My students will learn to be creative, logical thinkers who can apply what they learn to their studies and beyond.
Wes is a very considerate tutor who will most certainly help you improve. He is always on time never missed a class and even spent some of his time in order for my son to understand the lesson. I higly recommend him he truly deserves the 5 stars. In a matter of a month he helped my son improve drastically in his SAT. In which helped him get accepted to a Univeristy. Thank you Wes
Hello! I am an incoming junior at Harvey Mudd College. I am majoring in mathematical and computational biology. I have been tutoring students (ranging from elementary school to high school) in various subjects for 6 years now. I can help students on math, biology, SAT math, ACT (all 4 sections), and writing (English class and college essays). I have a lot of experience working with students with different learning styles. I love studying the sciences and I’d love to help students understand the concepts instead of memorizing them.
Hi there! I am majoring in mathematical and computational biology at Harvey Mudd College. I love studying the sciences because it's exciting to learn how things work and to logic things out. I love working with others - I have been tutoring students (ranging from elementary school to high school) on various school subjects for about 6 years now.
Music is another huge part of my life: I have been playing the piano for 14 years and the violin for 8 years now. I am currently a violinist in the Pomona College Orchestra. In 2014, I was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall after my participation in the American Fine Arts Festival. In high school, I placed either first or second on solo, duet, and ensemble competitions in various competitions held at places such as Diamond Bar High School and Chapman University. Through these activities, I prac
ticed on persistence and patience. Teaching experience wise, I have taught piano for 3 years before.
Additionally, I enjoy actively participating in my community. In high school, I was really involved in the American Red Cross and Key Club. In college, I am still finding joy in volunteering in different organizations on campus. I also enjoy other activities such as reading, meditation, theater, tennis, rock climbing, and ballroom.
I work with people according to their personality and the way that they learn best. If I were given the opportunity to tutor your student, I would make sure everything is clearly explained because I hate memorizing.
Sophia worked with my daughter during her Junior year of high school. My daughter was really struggling to understand the material and Sophia was a huge help. Sophia broke the lessons down and was able to instruct my daughter in a way that she could comprehend. Her grade improved by one letter which was wonderful. We truly appreciated Sophia's help.
I am an outgoing, patient, University student who loves learning. I am passionate about mathematics and especially physics(it is my major). I spent many years tutoring for my church and teaching Sunday school for k-8. My lessons are unique because I believe my personality is great for forming solid connections with my students. I love doing many different outdoor and indoor activities and I always have something interesting to talk about.
I am an outgoing person who loves all activities indoors and out. I am passionate about physics and I am a very easy going, patient person. I like to connect and I like sharing things about myself, such as my many cats. I used to teach Sunday school and tutor for my church. Now, my time is spent going around and eating great food while studying for my Major in Physics.
I am available to assist you with elementary math at any time. Feel free to browse my profile to see my areas of expertise. Hope to hear from you soon!
I went through what you are likely going through right now. Do not fear. These exams are not going to determine the course of your life. That is for YOU to do. However, if you must jump through these hoops to make it to your own goals, I will be able to guide you. I offer reasonable rates and I do not discriminate. I am here to offer training to people of all ages at any level. Too often, schools fail to teach a concept thoroughly. Students are expected to either regurgitate information or develop a theorem that already exists for themselves from scratch. With a bit of practice, you will see that none of this needs to be as hard as the schools have made it. Once you can pick up on the natural patterns of numbers and words, you will be able to breeze through tough problems.
"Tamar is a professional. She works well with my son and understands where he should be with the subject."
"Matt has been awesome for my student. His math skills have improved greatly, and his writing has come from illegible to what can now be described as nea
t and readable. Matt has been very patient and deliberate with our son and has taken the time to really explain things to Jake in a way he can understand. We would recommend this tutor to any parent looking for a tutor for their grammar school student! Matt is also reliable and prompt and showed up when expected which was helpful with our very busy schedules."
