As of 4/28 I will be fully vaccinated and am accepting in person students two weeks after that. Hello future students! I've been playing violin for 23 of my 29 years of age and teaching for 13 years. I believe that the most important part of learning the violin is having fun and building a pass

Jacqueline is an amazing teacher and musician. Not only is she a master player but a gifted teacher. The two talents don't always go hand in hand. She quickly had me playing songs while also instilling the important basics of learning a good bow hand, fingering and ear training. Jae -- that's the name she goes by -- is a one of a kind find!

This review is long overdue! Jacqueline has been so patient and kind with me in my violin journey. I truly appreciate her passion for the violin and for teaching. My bow hand has never looked better!

An experienced and versatile musician with a passion for building technique and finding students' unique artistic voice.

Students of mine study standard concertos, Bach, Suzuki materials, and scales. They also work on fiddle and jazz tunes, improvisation, and pop songs. The most important thing is to find what lights a spark in each student!

About Zachary

I am a violinist and violist with experience performing and studying all over the world. I am a trained classical musician, but I also have a passion for improvisation, hip hop, pop, jazz, and fiddle music! My strengths lie in building students' technical foundation while helping them find their art

I decided that I wanted to learn how to play an instrument much later in life than most. On top of the late start, I knew little to nothing about music. All of these factors discouraged me for a long time and some teachers I've tried added to that anxiety. One day I came across Zachary's profile and decided to give it one more chance , little did I know it would be one of the single greatest decisions I've ever made for myself. Coming to the table with as little knowledge as I had, including not being a young kid, was not a problem at all for Zachary. He has an ease about him when he teaches and is always patient and kind. Never once did he talk down to me or make me feel like something was impossible.
If you have a chance to have him as your teacher, you will not regret it. Let him help you learn, improve, and bring out the very best in you like he did with me.

I love Zachary's teaching method. He is very friendly and easy to understand. He is very passionate about teaching and it shows. I have progressed a lot after only a few lessons, and I will continue to take lessons from him. I highly recommend him :)

If I were to say 15 years on the violin, that would be a shocking time. I did earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Music where I received most of my education in both violin and piano. In my perspective, the violin is such an intricate instrument and I am blessed to work with students in wanting to learn violin. It’s true where putting the hard work in violin takes you where you need to be. It does require Practice! I am willing to work with the student and help them grow in advancing this instrument. Let’s keep in touch!

Benita has proven to be a very smart, reliable, and flexible violin instructor for my 13 year old son who needed additional help while taken orchestra via virtual learning. I have seen a significant improvement in his playing skills and grades as a result of her weekly lessons. I highly recommend Benita!

Miss Benita as we call her :) is so good with my 8-year-old daughter. In just 3 lessons they have built a great rapport. Benita is relaxed, reassuring, with a great sense of humor while at the same time imparting great knowledge of the violin to my daughter. I appreciate her welcoming us into her family home even during the pandemic. We felt that in-person instruction would be more desirable than online, and I think that my daughter is learning so much more with our arrangement.

As a French student, I can tell that Concetta is perfectly adapting to my way of learning. I know music for a long time but I'm a beginner with viola. I thought it would be a very hard exercise to practice but with Concetta's advices, I constantly and rapidly improve my technique. Five stars is the minimum I can give !

Concetta is a wonderful instructor - prior to my lesson I was feeling nervous - not sure what to expect, not feeling worthy, etc. - she quickly put me at ease and we had a very productive 1st lesson - well worth the investment of my time and money

"It's a blaze to work with Luther! He identified my problem very quickly and provided concrete advices on improving the sound. His understanding on how beautiful sound is made is very clear and systematic. There are so many dimensions in the sound making for violin but he always breaks it down and works on each individual part of my postures and bowing. My sound is now much fuller than before! He also not only teaches violin but also how to think about music in general. I feel like I am constantly critically thinking on how I can experiment with each phrase after I take lessons with Luther. I will highly recommend Luther if you want to find a violin teacher!"

"Many years ago I was coached in a chamber music setting by Cornelia (in one hour the piece had been wholly transformed), and when my daughter, then 6, came to me and said she wanted to play the violin, I knew exactly whom to call. I was a little worried then that Cornelia might not take beginners, but to my joy, her attitude is (excuse me for putting words in your mouth, Cornelia) "Of course I take beginners! How else to keep them from developing bad habits in the first place?" Fast forward to now: that 6 year-old became the concertmistress of the NEC Youth Symphony in Boston, has traveled around the country and around Asia playing the violin with the highly competitive National Youth Orchestra, and continues to play with excellent players to this day--and all because she was set on the right path by Cornelia, who is focused and kind. She's also demanding of excellence, and wildly enthusiastic about your progress. If you want to pay for lessons but don't really care about what kind of job you do, go somewhere else. Cornelia is the real deal. Violin isn't easy: if you want to start right, start here. If you want to get better, you've come to the right place. If you want really to think about the music you're playing, she's your guy. Plus she's got a great laugh."

Violin Tips: Avoiding the Bouncing Bow

As you're learning how to play the violin, the art of holding and placing your bow just right is important to master. There are a lot of details that go into proper bowing technique, and each has the potential to make or break your sound. For many beginners, learning to control the bow so it doesn't bounce against the strings is the first step. The dreaded  "bouncing bow" is a common issue, especially if you're trying to play softly, or if you're nervous. Here are some possible reasons for a …

Violin Vibrato for Beginners

What does it really take to master violin vibrato? The technique doesn't always come naturally to students, so persistence and practice should be no-brainers. And of course, working with a qualified violin teacher. If you're struggling, check out this helpful advice from Bolingbrook, IL teacher Kelvin L... For too long students have been told that vibrato is an emotional urge; that it will just come when it is needed. But please don’t think that vibrato is just going to happen magically. …

10 Wacky Ways to Improve Your Posture for Better Violin Playing

Proper posture is essential for good violin playing. Standing or sitting up straight not only improves tone production and control, but it also prevents injury and discomfort. Many violin players, however, struggle with their posture, which can lead to poor technique and cause both short and long term injuries. Not to mention you'll end up looking like Quasimodo. Poor posture can be a result of many things, such as sitting or standing without interruption for long periods of time, lack …
