Mr Yakov is very pleasant, patient and professional. He makes learning fun. One of my daughters is very shy and particular. I was concerned for her first violin. But she ended up loving the lesson and the instructor. We did some lessons online and at his studio. During the online lesson, the connection with our internet was horrible. He could hear her playing but she couldn't hear him. Yet, patiently, he got creative and taught the lesson with my daughter through chat. The environment of the studio is comfortable. You can tell he's passionate about what he does. That left me with a great impression of him. We look forward to more lessons with him for as long as we can.
Thanks Mr Yakov!!!
Learn the fundamentals of technique, theory, reading, memorization and expression. Many students will benefit from working with Aaron Shearer's inovative concepts and materials. Others will strengthen reading and interpretive skills through working with great works by masters such as Bach, Barrios, Tarrega and Brouwer. Many of my students have successfully prepared for auditions at universities and conservatories, but older beginners and hobbyist are welcome too.
I majored in music at Berea College, then went on to The University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where I completed a Masters degree in guitar performance and served as the graduate assistant to the guitar department.
For the past ten years I have earned a living performing and teaching guitar. I am a certified Suzuki instructor, and I've held teaching positions at Winston Salem State University and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, along with at least half a dozen other schools and institutions. I've been featured on other artists' records, and received a grant to release an album of my own songs. I regularly perform in a wide variety of bands and ensembles.
I love to teach, and over the years I have taught hundreds, maybe even thousands of lessons. Having learned something from each and every one
of my students, I am now at a point where I excel at honing in on the individual interests and learning styles of whoever comes to me for help. There are many ways to learn guitar. The best one is the one that engages and inspires you the most. That said, there are also music fundamentals that we all need to know. My joy as a teacher lies in finding a way for you to master the fundamentals while at the same time following your personal bliss and intuition. We plot the course together, combining your curiosity and enthusiasm with my years of experience.
I also love working with kids. While they are having fun jamming, I discretely provide them with the technique and musicianship they'll need to excel in any musical environment, whether it's conservatory study or playing in a great band.
*** Lesson Details *** Your enthusiasm is the key to your success, so my lessons are tailored to the interests and abilities of each student. That said, my classical background and dedication to effective teaching inform everything I do.
All of my students learn Music Fundamentals: -Technique (habits of movement) -Theory (how music works) -Aural skills (hearing pitches, chords and rhythms clearly)
Many of my students use books. There are hundreds of great books these days, and I will work with students from any book they choose. Listed here are the books I regularly use. They all deliver great results:
-Aaron Shearer "Leaning The Classic Guitar" -Will Schmidt and Greg Koch "The Hal Leonard Method" -Joe Pecoraro "Read This First" -David Oaks "Music Reading For Guitar" -William Leavitt "A Modern Method For Guitar" -Mateo Carcassi "Melodic and Progressive Studies, Opus 60" -Leo Brouwer "Simple Studies"
Many of my students prefer to work without a book, and that is a great option too. These students learn scales, chords and theory and develop a repertoire of songs. I will show you how to play any song you'd like to learn. You can also work on writing your own songs or compositions, or improvising in any context, be it jazz, blues, Indian raga or flamenco.
Singing is also encouraged!
*** Studio Equipment *** Home studio: music stands, extensive library of all kinds of music, great sound system and ability to stream any song, several guitars, recording equipment, footstools, keyboard and percussion instruments.
*** Travel Equipment *** I'll bring my guitar and books, accessories as needed.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in versatility. I regularly play gigs doing classical, jazz, blues, rock, pop, and world music. All of these genres have a place in my heart, and I've devoted years to learning to play and teach them well.
I am equally polyamorous when it comes to the various things musicians do. I love to sing pop songs, dissect jazz lines, delve into expressive groupings with classical pieces, drill scales and arpeggios, you name it. Reading, improvising, composing and notating, transcribing and playing by ear, memorization, classical technique, blues technique, bluegrass technique, theoretical analysis... hit me up for any of that, or whatever else interests you.
I provide formal classical guitar instruction from beginner to advanced. I studied at the American Conservatory of Music and the Chicago Musical College with Paul Henry in addition to numerous master classes.
A job provides money. A career provides income over a longer term. But, guitar...guitar is part of who I am.
My passion for guitar and music has been alive as long as I can remember. Don't get me wrong, guitar and I had our ups and downs. Serious issues! At times guitar was stubborn and difficult. In fact, while attending the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago on the Presidential Scholarship in Classical Guitar Performance, there were days when I considered ending my relationship with guitar. But, I stayed with guitar. With dedication to our relationship and a lot of work, we are still together and happier than ever. And, here to help you work on your relationship with your guitar.
I have been teaching guitar professionally for over 4 years in the Atlanta area. As a recent graduate of Kennesaw State University with a degree in Jazz Guitar Performance, I have developed a deep love for music and the guitar which I thoroughly enjoy sharing with my students. I currently teach and perform, traveling across the United States with various groups performing a multitude of genres, all of which I love teaching and sharing with eager students! I was not a "natural" guitarist, so I have a great method for making guitar/music make sense so that all of my students can be successful. I look forward to working with you!
I am a professional guitarist, composer, and educator living in the Greater Atlanta Area. I started playing guitar while in high school at Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School. I owe a lot of my success to my time spent here as this school is consistently ranked one of the top schools in the nation. I wasn't a "naturally gifted' musician, so if you are just starting out don't worry! I've been there and I have picked up a lot of tips and tricks along the way to help you out! After high school, I decided to further pursue my passion for music and was accepted to Kennesaw State University as a Jazz Performance Major. Shortly after arriving in Kennesaw I began performing all over Atlanta as a sideman in various groups and even started a few groups of my own. I have had some great opportunities to tour and travel across the United States playing
music, it is a really great feeling.I was a recipient of the GA Music Hall of Fame Talent Award in 2014 where I performed on national television for the first time. In 2016 I recorded an album with a good friend of mine, Morgan Guerin, entitled "The Saga" which reached #3 on the iTunes Jazz Charts on the first day of its release.
I have recently graduated from KSU with my Jazz Degree and have been teaching and performing extensively. Teaching has been a very rewarding part of my life, it has given me the opportunity to learn and grow as a musician in ways that performing simply cannot compete with. I really look forward to working with you and being a part of your musical journey!
Our lessons will be relaxed and fun. I take pride in tailoring my curriculum to the needs and goals of each individual student- This helps me make sure that you are learning at a pace that feels comfortable for you, yet challenging.
We will work together to develop both your musicianship and creativity. I am a firm believer in music being a healing and mind-opening practice. One of my primary goals while teaching is to give my students an outlet to express themselves in a healthy and meaningful way. Let's get started!
Topics we can focus on together: - Theory - Improvisation - Strumming/finger-picking patterns - How to sing and play at the same time - Songwriting/Recording techniques - Lyric Writing - Stage Presence - Exploring different musical genres
My classical training began at age 10, when I started to play the viola. From there, I was able to translate my musical skills to violin, guitar, piano, voice, composition, and songwriting.
Originally a biology major at SUNY Purchase College, I quickly became restless knowing that I was unable to focus on music enough. So, I switched it up, followed my passion, and began studying music theory and production. Since then, my life has been focused on teaching, performing, writing, and recording music- and I wouldn't have it any other way! It's been quite a journey, and I can't wait to share all that I've learned along the way with you.
Whether you are just starting out, or are looking to further the knowledge you already have, I will meet you at where you are, and help you to achieve your personal goals.
Together we can work o
n technique, theory, improvisation, ear-training, songwriting, and more!
Quality music lessons in a fun environment. I base my curriculum around my student's goals and interests.
I have been around music my whole life and have been teaching music lessons for 10 years. My passion for music is matched only by my passion for teaching and seeing my students succeed. Alongside teaching, I enjoy performing and writing original music.
Alan was awesome! My son needed some last minute lessons before an upcoming concert he was performing in. Alan helped him fine tune his part and gave him the confidence he needed. My son is now excited for the concert and can't wait to show everyone his talent!

I took guitar lessons with Alan for two years. Now my sons take piano, guitar, and drum lessons with him. I would recommend him because he is patient, very knowledgeable, and is a good teacher.
Hello! I’ve been playing guitar for over half my life and teaching for five years now. My love for music has played a huge role in my life, and I love sharing this passion with my students. Whether you are wanting to learn how to perform, compose music, or play your favorite song, I promise to help you achieve your goal. I’ve taught a variety of ages, and I truly believe it's never too early or late to learn an instrument. Every student is unique in what they are wanting to learn, so I promise to structure each student’s lessons to fit their individual goals and interests. It's also very important to me that my students enjoy each and every lesson, so the student is in complete control of their learning.
Hello! I’ve been playing guitar for over half my life and teaching for five years now. I first began learning guitar at a young age, and my passion for music has grown ever since.
My musical education began with guitar and music theory lessons when I was ten years old and continued until I graduated high school. These lessons included songwriting, music theory, and many other topics related to guitar. I also learned a variety of musical genres, including classic rock, acoustic, pop, country, and a bunch more. Being exposed to such a wide range of artists and genres was an incredible experience because it allowed me to learn numerous techniques and musical arrangements. This is also where I fell in love with artists like John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton. These influential artists played a huge role in sh
aping my guitar playing, songwriting, and technique. This also led to me joining a singer-songwriter trio called Two Beards and a Boy where I was the lead guitarist. We currently perform at city events, fundraisers, and numerous restaurants in the DFW area.
In middle school, I became the lead electric guitarist in my church’s band. I have also lead the worship service on multiple occasions and subbed in at different instruments as needed. I also began taking private vocal performance lessons where I learned how to read music, sight read, and other musical skills. I continued taking these lessons in high school, where I was involved in multiple nationally ranked choirs and performed at Carnegie Hall in 2016. Being involved in my high school's varsity choir not only honed my overall musical abilities but led to opportunities accompanying the choir as a guitarist.
My love for music has played a huge role in my life, and I love sharing this passion with my students. Nothing beats the excitement of a student as they’re able to play their first song. Whether you are wanting to learn how to perform, compose music, or play your favorite song, I promise to help you achieve your goal.

I have been working with children and youth for many years through the Upward Sports program, and I love building connections with all of my students to create a comfortable and fun learning environment.
As a college student at UT, I am very flexible with scheduling, so feel free to contact me about available times for lessons. I hope to hear from you soon, and please let me know if you have any questions!
Daniel was the most helpful teacher that I've ever had! He is extremely talented and was so prepared for every lesson. Even when I ran into error he was patient and helped me figure out what to do better next time. I recommend!

Daniel is a great teacher and an even better person. If you are looking for a musical instructor for your child that can also be a role model then Daniel Powell is it. Great knowledge of the guitar. Good attitude with the kids he teaches. Very patient. Highly recommended

Daniel is an amazing guitar player, as well as a great young man! He will be an incredible teacher to any student as well as a role model.
My name's Alex Ivanov, I'm a 24 year old guitarist and alumni of Berklee College of Music. I've been a guitar instructor for 6 years, who's taught students in Boston and Orlando. I'm proficient with styles, ranging from Rock, Blues, Classical, Pop, Metal, Jazz, Rockabilly, Country, Latin and Reggae.
I teach Beginner level students to Advanced, and everything in between. For Beginners, I maintain a fun and manageable curriculum of easy and quick to learn songs! For more experienced players, I implement music theory into learning songs. The goal is to not only learn music note for note, but to understand the function of these notes and how they relate to chords and scales!
My name's Alex Ivanov, I'm a 24 year old lead guitarist and alumni at Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Business.
At the age of 9, I picked up the electric guitar and haven't put it down since. Following in my parent's footsteps, I began my professional musician career that same year, performing live shows at venues all over the central Florida region. I've strived to tackle all different genres of music, and search for any outlet where he can play.
With my current band, I play guitar driven hard rock and blues with an emphasis on guitar driven! When attending school I played in jazz combos, Brazilian guitar ensembles, Pop and top 40 bands, and at home I play Bach and Mozart sonatas for fun! I love music and one can always find me with a guitar in hand, looking for new sounds, and new ways of understanding the instrument!
"I really enjoy learning from Dan. He is good at relating things back to a way I can understand and improve. He is so versatile in his music knowledge that
I can litterally throw anything his way that I'm curious about and he points me in the right direction. I've taken guitar, bass, vocal, and even production lessons from Dan. By far the most value I have ever got from an instructor."
"If you're interested in studying classical guitar you know that it is both difficult and important to find a quality guitar instruction. Look no further.
Geoff is fantastic. His daily exercises for guitar have helped improve my technique dramatically. I'm so glad I found him and had an opportunity to work with him."
"Pretty cool! As impatient as I am, Jesse is pretty good at letting me know about improvements and how to play and still makes it a relaxed environment.
SO much better than learning when i was a kid in public schools with instructors on a "lesson plan"."
"She's been more than I expected. Personable with a lot of energy with a knowledge base I can't begin to fathom. She's going to make learning guitar a grea
t experience. I only hope is that I can live up to her expectations."
"An awesome teacher
I have been learning acoustic and classical guitar from James for more than 2 years now. His technique of teaching, the motivation, ti
ps and videos he provides are simply exceptional. I would surely recommend him for anyone interested."
"I like Mark a lot even though I just had my first class with him. Great great teacher - very patient and be able to teach and inspire me both on skills an
d spirit of the instrument."
Whatever you need in the six string, guitar arena - Marc delivers! From rock to classical; from insights on music theory to quick and easy/
just play around the camp fire type chords. Whatever level of interest you have, genre or style you want to play, Marc is the teacher you are looking for!"
"Absolutely terrific. I really enjoy lessons and the way we work through technique together. He has a really clear way of explaining things. I am really
pleased with the progress that I'm making with his instruction. Very enthusiastically recommended!"
"Initially, I received the quintessential guitar lessons, complete with classical guitar exercises. I then developed an affinity for classical guitar, but
I couldn’t journey further into the style because my training was limited. I can happily say that I have not only been able to overcome my plateau but also found the teacher who can shape me into the guitarist I aspire to be. I’m being taught via video chat but the lessons are nothing short of insightful. Your dedication as a student with Jaxon will take you far. Take the first lesson and you’ll see!"
With so much amazing classical guitar music to choose from, how do you decide which pieces are absolutely essential to learn to play? Here, we'll share our top picks for classical guitar students to study and play.
To study the classical guitar is a great and noble pursuit. Bringing back music that is centuries old is not a easy task, especially when the documentation and the preservation of sound was increasingly difficult the farther you get from the 1900’s. This makes the job of a classi …
