I have been teaching harp for over 10 years. I teach with a strong emphasis in technique, employing mostly Salzedo styles with a few French styles in hand and arm position.

I have a series of books from which I teach for all ages, all abilities. At any point I encourage the student to learn songs they like, creating an enriched atmosphere of learning.

I teach music theory, exercises, and sight-reading alongside our weekly studies of pieces and songs. I will help you find the right materials so you can enjoy your lessons!

It is my goal to have students perform pieces with comfort, strength and for memory.

My teaching philosophy is to cultivate a love for music while learning the best way to approach the instrument and learning how to play well. Like any good goal, hard work and patience are needed, but ultimately love and the pursuit of making music.

About Elizabeth

Very fun first lesson with Elizabeth. She was very patient, and explained things such as technique and posture in a very detailed way. Excited for future lessons!

Elizabeth has been thourough, encouraging, and super cool! She even helped me find a good rental harp (and delivered it) ,and is scoring rock songs for me. She keeps track of progress, sends music to practice, and gives good pointers on technique. I've been playing multiple instruments for 40 years, the harp is a challenge, and I'm so blessed to have found her as a teacher. If you are considering which teacher to go with, go with Elizabeth. You won't be disappointed!!!

As a harp teacher, all of my
students play scales, arpeggios, and technical exercises in
their lessons. I believe having a strong technical base is the foundation for
every part of playing and you can't learn without it. I will set the repertoire
for students according to their technical progress and although I may
take into consideration a student's desires to learn a certain piece, there has
to be time and they have to be ready for it. I have both short term and long
term goals for each student that involve theory, technical ability, and
repertoire both orchestral and solo. Adult students still have to learn
technique, it makes things much more fun and easy six months later, I promise! Beginning students will learn how to read notes, understand basic theory, and technique in a short amount of time, so don't be scared if you have never had a music lesson before.

I require all students make
at least an hour a day commitment to practice. I teach mostly the ...

Alexandra is everything you could ever want in a first-rate teacher: she is inspiring, devoted, nurturing, exciting, knowledgeable, a fierce advocate for her students - the list goes on and on. However, what makes Alexandra truly remarkable is her almost magical ability to instantly spark intrinsic motivation - and a love of music - in all of her students. If you are looking to learn from a truly life-changing teacher, look no further than Alexandra Perdew-Bhatt.

Alexandra has met all my expectations. She is very patient. I feel like we are moving along at a good pace. I had zero musical experience and after only 3 lessons can read basic sheet music and actually have music come out of the piano!! I am enjoying the whole process.

Is it hard to learn a musical instrument? That’s usually the first question
people ask. My answer? Not at all! I teach music based on the Irish/Celtic tradition. First, you'll learn to play by ear, and then when you're comfortable with where everything is on the harp, we'll move on to reading notes. Playing in the Celtic tradition is heavily based on improvisation, and learning the freedom of what it means for the music to come from within you. Learning the harp is all about welcoming music into your life, and making it a part of you.

About Kathryn

Hi there! I am a professional opera and choral singer, pianist/accompanist, and Celtic harpist. I love all animals (especially dogs), and baking goodies for my friends, family, and students! I hold an MM in Voice, summa cum laude, from UCLA's Herb Alpert School of Music, and a BA in Music, magna

Hello! I started my harp teaching life as a research doctor and therapist, using harp vibrations with patients for 9 years in Mayo Clinic hospitals. After recording Harp Of Hope as a harp therapy treatment for helping with anxiety and other symptoms, I began to meet many people who wanted to learn harp for healing their own symptoms. So I began to teach harp, specializing in adult beginners.

I am a Conservatory-trained harpist and pianist, so I emphasize good technique, but I want my students to enjoy life. So I try to fill lesson times with peace, laughter, and joy in the music. That's what it's all about! I live on a beautiful lake in Northern Kentucky, and I lead harp retreats there. I also rent harps to students. Most of my students are adults who have always wanted to play the harp... so, if that's you, too, I look forward to meeting you!

About Dr. Diane

Music gives me so much joy in life, that I simply love teaching it to others! I especially want prospective students to know that I specialize in ADULT beginners--because they know how to focus, and they have such appreciation for the joy that music brings! By age 9, I was a piano student who,

Dr. Diane was my first harp teacher. She inspired me with her beautiful playing. She emphasized correct technique and instilled the idea of taking time to breathe as you play. This helped me so much to gain confidence and to get over my nerves. I consider her to be a master teacher.
Andrea
Diane was my first harp teacher. I had lessons with her for approximately 5 years before she relocated to another state. She is incredibly talented and experienced in all aspects of harp knowledge and performance. She is trained and qualified to provide harp vibration therapy to patients in the hospital setting, as well as in hospice settings. She is a patient and encouraging teacher. At the same time, she is dedicated to instructing her students in proper positions, form, and technique as well as the musical nuances to ensure not only the beautiful sounds from the harp, but beautiful hand positions and movements as the harpist plays. Highly recommend Diane Schneider as an excellent harp teacher.

"Amanda is amazing she is patient and kind. She takes her time making sure that you as the student understand the material and can perfect the technique needed for the the harp. The harp is the first instrument I have ever played I didn't think I would be able to play since i have no music experience at all, but Amanda has helped me in every step of the way. If you wish to learn don't shy away from your wish just find a wonderful instructor like Amanda. One who takes her time with you and explains in different ways in case you don't understand the music symbols. She is extremely experienced with the folk harp she is very supportive and doesn't give up on you. Because of her I am excited to go to class and learn new things. My goal is to be an amazing harp player and I know that with her help I will be able to reach that goal. Amanda is just an amazing teacher and I am very fortunate to be learning from her. :)"

"Jill is an amazing harp teacher! Because she is so positive, energetic and supportive, she has made learning to play the harp a wonderful experience for my daughters. She is able motivate my girls to practice and they look forward to their lessons each week. I asked my girls what their favorite things are about Jill. My 14-year-old said, “It is really obvious that she loves to play the harp. This makes me love to play as well because of her enthusiasm and example. She is really encouraging when I get frustrated.” My 12-year-old said, “She helps me find my weaknesses and thinks of ways to strengthen them. She also makes learning the harp a lot of fun.” We would highly recommend Jill as a music teacher!"
