Music has been my passion since I was 10 years old. I didn't have any real instruments at first, so, I built my own out of coffee cans, ice cream containers and of course: a rubber band shoebox guitar! It might sound funny, but, I believe these early days of trying to create music using my "homemade symphony," forced me to really get to the core of sound and expression without the pre-set curriculum of traditional music study. Early on, I learned a few fundamental concepts of music theory that would forever change how I learned, as well as how I taught music to others. I believe these concepts set a foundation that allowed me to understand music and grow much faster - including learning multiple instruments.

And yes, I eventually acquired a real guitar and went on to study music and computers at the University of California and I currently compose music for TV and film in my own studio. I have taught guitar, bass, piano, drums, theory, composition and recording production to ...

About Peter

I currently compose music for TV, film and other digital media in my own recording studio. Prior to that, I spent about 25 years playing guitar, piano, bass and drums in bands and as a studio musician. At school I studied classical music (theory and composition) as well as orchestration and compute

I just started my second year of guitar lessons with Peter and I’m learning so much! Peter is a great teacher who is patient, encouraging and a great listener. He can “hear” the areas that I need to work on, and is able to clearly communicate ways for me to improve . He has helped me get better at my rhythm, my strumming, tempo and even an introduction to music theory. I’m now playing (and singing) some of my favorite songs! Highly recommend!

I enjoy teaching people what they want to learn. If they have specific interests, I will show them how to get the results they want. If a general musical education is desired, I will make suggestions as to what would be good for them. With over 35 years of teaching experience, I have found many different ways to communicate how and why the whole thing works on different levels.

About Mark

I have played on tour with several professional bands, playing rock, pop, blues, African, metal, and country. Now I am a bandleader and perform live in various bands and record original music as often as possible. My music has gotten airplay in many countries. I started taking guitar lessons

Whether you're a first day student or a seasoned player, I've probably taught someone just like you before. I especially love teaching theory and fretboard logic, but I can help you learn whatever you're looking to take on.

With every student, I create a specific path for you that gives you what you're looking to learn (aka what got you excited about picking up the guitar in the first place) along with the essentials to help make your journey as smooth as possible. If there isn't quality tab readily available, I'm down to transcribe the tune for you and I guarantee you'll laugh and enjoy yourself (at no extra charge of course).

About Dave

I've been playing the guitar for 25 years now and teaching for nearly two decades. In 2006, I received his BA in Jazz performance from U-Mass Amherst and since then I've performed anywhere from local bars and cafes, in pits for musical theater, as a show band musician for Carnival Cruise Lines and

Dave is the best instructor I could have hoped for. As an older beginner, I was not sure how much I could pick up but I have made good progress in the past year with his lessons. Lots of fun, look forward to learning more riffs and songs!

My 11 year old has had weekly guitar lessons from Dave for two years now.
Her knowledge and confidence in playing the guitar, has greatly improved. Dave gets all the credit for that.
He works well with her, is communicative, and is as flexible as he can be, even last minute.
I have, and will continue to recommend Dave to anyone interested in taking guitar lessons

It has been a delight taking lessons with Omar. The sitar is a foreign and old instrument, and Omar was very patient with getting me acclimatized to the instrument itself - all the nuts and bolts of putting the instrument together, tuning and playing the strings. Omar adapts very well to my pace of learning, and teaches with depth, instead of rushing through material. Lessons are always fun and easygoing, and I leave with not just technical knowledge, but with also a feel for the background and vibes of Indian classical music.

Omar is an amazing teacher! He has taught me a lot about the the history and how to properly play the sitar. Highly recommend learning from him if you are interested in the sitar : )

"Carla's teaching technique was perfect for me. I have played the guitar for longer than I care to admit and even I was tired of hearing my same old stuff. She incrementally moved me forward line by line, measure by measure to where I now have several fingerpicking style numbers in my portfolio.

Playing for my own enjoyment is now enjoyable once again.

My lessons were online and very effective - when I got stuck, Carla would send me a sample audio clip of her playing the difficult part which was a godsend for me in how I learn new musical things.

I highly recommend Carla and her Carlalology method of guitar teaching. You won't be disappointed."

Despite my son’s habit of not practicing enough, Joey has been patient with him and has managed to discover what sparks my son’s interest. Now, Nicholas has greatly improved and plays guitar very often, and enjoys it. Joey has also been flexible when we have had to request schedule changes. He has also been thorough in following up on questions or discussions we have had"

"Ahmad is very passionate about teaching guitar. I've been playing guitar for last 2 year and with Ahmad, I've learnt much more in couple of months than I learnt in 2 years putting me on the Fast track. He has a very structured teaching approach, He breaks down complex techniques in small modules, which enabled me to learn quickly and everything is reviewed in the following class. Ahmad tailored the guitar lessons according to my skills and interests.
He is a great teacher and I highly recommend him for guitar lesson."

"Theresa is most excellent. There's no question that she knows music and is an accomplished musician, but the real trick is being able to share that talent with a saugsage-fingered doob such as myself. And make it seem a reasonable proposition, something you could do. She has an innate style of instruction that is at once comforting and challenging, setting the bar ever higher while giving enough encouragement that you want to do better. My highest recommendation."

The Do's And Don'ts Of Buying The Best Beginner Acoustic Guitar

Looking for the best beginner acoustic guitar to purchase?
