Learn about rhythm, harmony, melody, and dynamics in great detail.

Music is often taught excessively by rote, and I feel it's very important to understand the logic behind everything just like you would in mathematics. So take that leap and explore the science of music.

Talented teachers are rare. Like a great coach i sports... the coach doesn’t need to be the top athlete in his field to know how to teach each team member to hone their best abilities, he just has to know and see how to teach you how to get there. Being an outstanding teacher is a great talent all in itself... and that is Jesse. He has that quality and ability to lead, focus and take you where you want to go.

Jesse has given directions on how to successfully become a better musician. His approach and explanation on musical theories was much more understandable than what I was previously reading. Overall, I found the lessons to be very usefull.

I'm Ahmad a very enthusiastic musician. I started out teaching myself guitar at the age of 12. I moved to the U.S. in 2001 and studied music for 15 years receiving my B.M. and M.M in music and audio production at San Francisco State University. I then moved to Los Angeles then studied and trained with John Mayer, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, George Lynch and many others. I have performed hundreds of concerts in the U.S. as well in Europe and the Middle East with Artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Michael Angelo Batio, Ratt, Sammy Hagar, Dokken and many others. I ranked #1 in the Slash Guitar Center competition. I was in the "list of top 5 guitar players ever" according to The Examiner, also picked as one of the best guitarists of 2013 and 2014 consecutively in the Rockwell UnScene magazine, and ranked 3rd in the Steve Vai Sam Ash Best in Shred competition.

After having been a student of Ahmad's for over a year now, I can earnestly say he is a quality instructor unlike any I've had before. He shapes each individual class specifically to what your guitar goals are, creating incredibly detailed and thorough handouts and exercises to help you get there. I am the type of student who learns best with a well-defined regime laid out clearly in front of me. His handouts are a perfect match for my learning style and you can tell the years of experience and knowledge that has gone into creating each one. He is also a very adaptive teacher helping me surpass some rhythm barriers in unique and creative ways. He had helped me gain a new appreciation and understanding for music theory and most importantly he helps keep it fun.

When my son moved to the area, he began playing guitar for the first time. His job kept him very busy, so he wanted to find a guitar instructor where his time would be well spent. Below is his review of Ahmad.

You would be hard-pressed to find an instructor as excellent as Ahmad. With his help, I made an incredible amount of progress on guitar in a matter of months. His lessons are precise and organized, and I always left the lesson feeling like I learned a ton of new stuff. He strikes a great balance between requiring excellence as well as giving encouragement and making sure it's always fun. In a few months, I went from knowing close to nothing about music to being able to play my favorite songs from start to finish. As I have left the area, I will miss Ahmad's lessons, but I'm thankful for getting him to start my journey into the world of music!
Ryan
If you are ready to embark on the journey of mastering the guitar and learning to truly express yourself through music, you will not find a more dedicated, enthusiastic and organized teacher than Ahmad
Ahmad has devoted his life to the art and methodology of teaching the guitar to others. It's not about him and how well he can play or his personal aspirations to be musician. There is no intimidating showing off during lessons - only a sincere desire to be the best teacher he can be. I've always been self-conscious playing in front of great guitar players, but Ahmad creates a safe environment for me to learn and grow as a player.
Ahmad's experience has given him true expertise and it shows in his ability to meet students exactly where they are at - no matter what their experience level. His years of teaching experience and vast, meticulously organized archive of personally-created handouts are perfect for whatever the moment calls for. That is a world of difference from one-size-fits all online materials I've struggled with in the past. Or, unprepared teachers who "wing it" each lesson.
My window of opportunity to be a rock star closed many years ago, if I ever had one. While I am a dedicated guitar student, work and family come before practice and lessons. Ahmad has been extremely accommodating in allowing me to take lessons as frequently or infrequently as my schedule allows. Yet, he always keeps me making progress and never lets me stall out or drift away from my commitment to learn.
Great teachers are hard to find. I discovered Ahmad through searching online and reading his reviews. After over 3 years of studying with him, I know I have a found a superb teacher and an inspiring musical mentor. Begin the journey!

I have been teaching music theory part time since 1972 and full time since 1998. One of the most important aspects of learning music theory is going beyond "what to play" and teaching you "why you're playing it". Once you have a grasp of basic theory concepts, you'll be able to learn new songs twice as fast, and with a great deal more accuracy!

Music is the language of emotion. Just as children learn to speak their native language before they can read, many of us understand music's ability to move us without having studied it. But music theory teaches us how to read, write, and create with that language, just as learning letters, words, sentence-building, and grammar allow us to communicate fluently with words—and appreciate the nuances of our language even more.

Some music theory students feel daunted by how mathematical music theory is. But it's the same as anything; driving a car, when you look closely, is about physics; gardening can be explained through chemistry; the miracle of our ecosystem can be interpreted through biology; and music, for all its emotional depth, is built on soundwaves. Those invisible forces can be understood through mathematics. My job is to help you maintain your connection to the passion of music itself, the sensations it provokes, while speaking it like a language and building it like an ...

"Before attending Berklee College of Music, I had zero formal music theory training. In addition to that disadvantage, I've also struggled with a learning disability my whole life. Because of all this, once classes started, I quickly realized I was in way over my head, and requested a tutor to help- which is when I met Eli! After our first session, it was clear that "knowledgeable" or "helpful" are really understatements when describing his level of expertise. What Eli is, is brilliant- he knows music theory like the front and backs of his hands, and is able to COMMUNICATE it to you in a clear and easy way. Not only did I learn more effectively with Eli's help, but my music theory professor nominated me for the music theory spring scholarship award, and I won! I never would have gotten as far as I did in my music theory studies without his help; I truly admire his intelligence. And lastly, but certainly not least-ly, he is an absolute PLEASURE to work with- I didn't just get a great tutor, but I got a great friend too! Please do yourself a favor and work with Eli, I can promise you you won't be disappointed!"

She not only taught me how to read, listen to, and study music, but she taught me why music is important and how I can live it. Emily teaches with grace and poise. She finds a way to relate to students of any ambition or experience. As a high school student looking to still be involved in music in college, Emily was able to find connections in several cities for me because of her numerous experiences of networking in the music world. Music Student Face-Off: Memorizers vs. Readers | Which is Better?

As you learn songs and work through your music books, do you memorize the notes? Or do you read along every time you play? In this post, music teacher Vanessa G. discusses the pros and cons to the approaches...   Imagine your teacher gives you a piece of music to study. What's your process? Do you listen to a recording, memorizing the melody and the stylistic aspects before you begin, and then as you play? Or would you sit down and sight read the notes, and perfect it from that star …

Can You Pass This Basic Music Theory Quiz? Test Your Knowledge!

A knowledge of music theory is absolutely indispensable to musicians. How to Change the Key of a Song With and Without a Computer

What Does it Mean to Change a Key? To change a song’s “key” means to shift the whole musical system to a higher or lower position. This process is called “transposition.” Performers often need transpose a song to better fit their voices. That way, a performer with a naturally lower singing voice (like myself) will be able to more comfortably sing a song that was originally written for someone with a naturally higher voice. Or vice versa.  For singers, transposition feels fairly …
