Hi! Depending on what the student enjoys, we will focus on learning songs from a musical genre (classical, pop, jazz etc). We will also learn music theory, note reading, improvisation, fingering, bow technique and much more. It is very important to me that my students are enjoying what they are learning, so they will be inspired to practice and persevere!

I am a beginner cello student and started online lessons with Cello in February 2020. Prior to starting, Cello helped me find the perfect and affordable instrument and bow in local Los Angeles area. He walked me through step by step what to purchase, how to take care, and everything else. Then, he recommended to purchase beginner music and technique books. Everything was very organized and structured. He was so kind and went above and beyond.
If you are a beginner and scared to start online lesson, don’t worry. Cello will walk step by step with you. He is patient, very experienced, and a great teacher.
I look forward every week for our lessons! Thank you Cello!
Mr. Guo was first recommended by my Colburn Community School mom friends where our kids take dance/vocal classes. He was already teaching several private students from this community and heard many great things. At the time, Mr. Guo was a Master of Music student at the Colburn School and we would all go to his amazing recitals! Absolutely great performance and musicality— it inspired my daughter greatly.
I highly recommend Mr. Guo’s lessons. He is kind, very polite, and very knowledgeable in teaching.

I have taught cello for many years to different ages, needs, and goals in music, from enjoying music to prepare auditions and a professional career. I enjoy sharing my passion for cello playing. In addition to my teaching in private studio, public and private schools, colleges and universities, I’m a concert cellist with experience performing as soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player, I empathize with students problems to solve and the art of interpretation, living music to the highest levels , I was taught by great artists.

My name is Jerry. I LOVE music and passing my knowledge on to others. I have played many different instruments in many different kinds of bands. It all one major thing in common, it was FUN! If you are not having fun while learning an instrument you won't want to learn. Lessons can be fun AND educational at the same time. I have had many parents tell me I'm one of the best teachers they have ever seen. (A couple of them were public school teachers themselves). I truly want my students to succeed and I will do everything in my power to help them accomplish that!

I can help the student practice and learn their way around the cello in an efficient manner. This means that I will be helping with intonation and other technique by giving exercises for the challenging passages. Lessons will be customized according to the goal of the student. Sharing my knowledge in cello and music is a passion and a goal of mine and I would love to help reach your goals.

I had no experience with string instruments and feel I'm on my way to playing the cello competently. Byron keeps things fun and moving along at a good pace. He's especially good at diagnosing the cause of any difficulties I'm having."

Cello thumb position is one of the big leaps of technique for advancing cellists and is one of the skills that sets more advanced students from the intermediate. This new technique opens up the higher ranges of the instrument and allows us to play more advanced solos and etudes. This technique is not something you should rush into though! Make sure to take things slowly at first and master the basic concepts before moving on. When Should You Focus on Your Cello Thumb Position? There have to …
