I will teach you or your child all of the knowledge and tools needed to do whatever your dream is on your instrument. My aim is to help every student achieve their personal goals on their instrument within the context of a relaxed and patient environment that promotes a love of music!

I achieve this by:

1) Individualizing lesson plans so that each student stays engaged and learns in the style that is best for them as learners.

2) Ensuring that students learn BOTH how to play their instrument as well as the theory behind what they are playing. This creates a more well-rounded musician that is capable of problem solving on their instrument and being able to play in a variety of settings.

I teach beginner and intermediate mandolin, focussing on the basics of stringed instrument skills. We will spend some time reading basic melodies, learning the fretboard, and learning strumming styles and techniques. I have played mandolin for years and for several professional musicals.

I have taught mandolin lessons for over 10 years and played mandolin professionally in two bands for over 20 years. Note reading, chords, theory, all styles. Have fun learning and progressing quickly in lessons with me!

If you're an adult finally getting around to learning your dream instrument or a child following your passion of playing music I tailor your lessons specifically to you. We look at what you want to play, pick specific songs that you want to learn, and learn the techniques you need to play these songs. It sounds simple, but it's so effective and much more fun to learn this way!

I've been teaching for 30 years. My students have gone on to play professionally, have their songs on iTunes and teach at the college level. I typically use ‘’Mandolin Primer’’ or "Complete Mandolin Method" by Horne.
