About Elisa
I am a patient and creative pianist who loves music and loves teaching. I have been blessed with many varied musical experiences that has ultimately enhanced my skills as a musician and a piano instructor.
My musical training began at an early age, four years, which eventually led to a Bachelor's Degree in Music from the University of California, Riverside. Along with my classically-trained studies, I had the opportunity to travel to several countries to study the music of many cultures. This experience further enhanced my musical knowledge and musicianship skills.
I have studied and worked as a music therapist and a ballet music accompanist. Although I have enjoyed these and is grateful for these experiences, nothing can compare to my love of teaching piano. I have taught piano to adults and children, beginning skill levels through ad
vanced skill levels.
As you or your child's instructor, I will do my very best to cultivate a love and appreciation for music and the arts. I look forward to working with you.
Elisa

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe that each lesson should be enjoyable and bring out a sense of accomplishment in each student. I work with all ages and skill levels. I am skilled at teaching many types of music which include: Classical European Music and its many genres and pop music of all eras. I am also trained in working with people with special needs.
I believe in consistent, regular practice. Each lesson is tailored to fit each student. If you are a beginning student, I will teach you to the basic skills of piano music, such as hand placement, scales, reading music, etc. If you are an intermediate through advanced-skilled student, I will work on enhancing what you already know and work on higher-leveled music. In addition, with all of my students, I would also add to my lessons special goals for yourself that you may have.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have amassed a collection of music books that would be relevant in teaching students of various skill levels. I expect my students to provide a piano if I will travel to their home.

*** Specialties ***
I was formally trained in the Suzuki Method as a child, however, I am adept at teaching almost any style of music.

About Erin
I carry an enthusiasm for knowledge, excitement about the "nerdy" subjects like mathematics and science, and determination to pass that on to my students. I believe in the power of positive reinforcement and prefer to educate students, whether highly gifted or experiencing significant obstacles, in a manner that will leave them not only more knowledgeable, but also more confident. I never use the same approach twice. Each session is tailored to my students' strengths and needs, filling in what is incomplete, and building upon what they already possess. I am passionate about education and the development of growing minds, and it shows in my sessions.

I have nearly 10 years total experience working as an educator. I began my experience teaching chemistry and mathematics in a classroom setting as part of a philanthropy program sponsored b
y my college, University of Southern California. I continued in the industry working for several companies such as Sylvan Learning Centers, Kaplan, TutorFind, and Club Z Tutoring. Since that time, I have continued to work privately with countless students, tailoring my lessons to students' needs and allowing our interactions to grow beyond academic instruction into academic planning, college admissions processes, and mentorship.

I specialize in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and standardized test preparation, but am also available as a general supplemental education provider for any and all subjects with which I have sufficient experience. I like to build a strong connection with my students and their parents, offering not only supplemental education, but also mentorship and academic advisement. I have worked with many families during the planning stages of transition from middle school to high school and high school to university, helping plan a solid academic structure for the student that will guarantee success.

I am available for last-minute tutoring (e.g. studying for a final exam), short-term tutoring solutions (e.g. standardized test preparation), as well as long-term instruction on a regular basis for students with ongoing needs.

We are very satisfied with Erin's services - our daughter improved her ACT score by 4 points with Erin's tutoring assistance! Erin knew how to use technology to make the online tutoring sessions as effective as though they were in person. Not only is she smart in the subject matter, she is also very personable. I would highly recommend Erin!

My style and attitude toward teaching is a balance between subject delivery and reflective, supportive interaction. I seek to enable current research on education for busy, yet goal-driven student interests. This is done through customized online lessons coordinating the experience with optimal resources and tools. Examples are helping ESL students to monitor their own phonic issues with dedicated software/feedback, guiding German students through conversational dialogues, and ta
iloring Excel and related productivity lessons for particular prerequisites.

Due to my limited funds, I do not have direct experience with the Adobe suite, but I have extensive knowledge of related, free distributions that are transferable. Possibly the only dedicated PhD for E-Learning on the TakeLessons server, I am member of the Association for Language Learning, located in Leicester, UK.
My most popular subjects are as follows:

North American English Pronunciation Practice for ESL (NAEPP-ESL) or Accent-Reduction:
*****Each Online Lesson with Free Video & MP3 recordings, and about 50 GB onedrive folder for lesson files*****

Carefully following Burkkowsky's (1969) multi-media method, I have taught this subject for over five years for public and private causes, such as library, individuals, and language schools. My emphasis for pronunciation is a scientific, comprehensive overview and treatment of the various sounds, rhythms, inflections, and patterns the spoken language integrates. I encourage practicing and mastering both the sounds themselves, as well as how the sounds are connected and contextualized. I use contemporary sound recording and .wav editing software (acoustic waveform analysis) to enable dynamic feedback and self-monitoring .

· Speaking Voice · Online
Normally, I don't write reviews for teachers until a couple of months have passed, but I acquiesce as TakeLessons keep on spamming me to write a review. Unlike other reviews, I'm not going to act as an echo chamber for five-star reviews. This review is based on two months with her after ten one hour online lessons through Skype.

Let's start with the positives. Denise puts in a good amount of effort in teaching you. She's flexible with accommodating your schedule, and she tailors her lessons based on what your goals are. This is evident from her referring to her notes when beginning her lessons with me. She also isn't a clock watcher who makes sure your lesson ends straight on the minute unlike some other teachers.

Is she effective as a speaking voice teacher? So far, yes there has been some progress made. Her methodology might be a bit more different than other speaking voice teachers I studied under. Other teachers focus more on the phonetic sounds, while Denise linger more toward stretches probably due to her dancing background. If you don't like Yoga type of stretches, you may be in for a bad time.

Keep in mind that due to my focus on developing a voice for acting, I'm also not having a pure speaking voice lesson as my lessons are intertwined with monologue work too. If you wish to take speaking voice lessons for public speaking, your mileage may vary.

So why a one-star deduction? Denise at the start can be pushy with trying to sell you more lessons. I mean it goes without saying that of course you'll see improvements faster if you can devote more time to any class, but time and money are factors that everyone should always consider. Let's be frank, private lessons on TakeLessons aren't cheap (unless you're rich of course). I was annoyed when she repeated her tactic three times, enough that it affected my decision to nearly not renew my monthly lessons with her.

She did cease when it seem like I wouldn't budge. Nevertheless, the pushiness did leave my experience a bit tainted, which made me question her sincereness with her excitement and positive reinforcement at times. I continue to give her a chance though because I do feel there's an ongoing improvement with my speech and line delivery. Also because we get along despite being complete opposites in some ways (which seem to frustrate and intrigue her). Despite being my teacher, I see her as a peer in a way because of how close in age we are, but I digress as this review is about her effectiveness as a teacher.

I would recommend giving Denise a try if you’re an actor seeking a speaking voice teacher. In person lessons are still best, but she has proven to be effective as an online teacher despite being a tad pushy with having you buy more lessons from her.

Business Profile:

In a digital age, learning software, software programming, and mathematics have become as vital as learning reading, writing, and arithmetic. Learning IT is essential in pre-college education, college education, workplace, acquiring advancements in current job; searching for a better job; managing businesses; and managing one’s personal life. Thinking computationally is something that every well-educated person needs to know and should know. There is a great digital divider between the Knows and Know Nots. Crossing this digital divider requires solid understanding of digital concepts. One should not only live with these concepts, but could hardly l
ive without. Many find a lot of IT potential opportunities but not enough knowledge to benefit from these opportunities.

I have helped people of all walks of life how to cross this digital divider. This includes professionals, business owners, college graduate students, college undergraduate students, high school students, and job applicants.

I am exceedingly-educated and I manage to close the digital gab by simplifying mathematical and computer science concepts. I do not simply repeat what has been already detailed in trillions of pages of books and lectures. Everyone’s mind is different and thus everyone has a unique perception to understanding one issue or another.

I have taught programming algorithms, pseudo programming codes, programming codes in Python and other computer languages, Databases, Microsoft Office Applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Publisher, MS Access, MS Outlook), and other IT areas for different levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced.

I am a programmer analyst. I have an IT sole proprietary business that deals with the design of computer software including programming analysis, databases, and data analysis. My sole proprietary business applies mathematical modeling that relates to computer software. My sole proprietary business also covers software programming in computer languages that span from earlier languages such as BASIC, FORTRAN PASCAL, DBASE, COBOL to languages that continued and expanded such as C. And newer languages such as PYTHON with its extended libraries that managed to combine other tools and programming languages and became in its 3.x version an object-oriented language that runs linearly. Computer languages that include Weakly-Typed language, Strongly-Typed Language, High-Level Language, Low-Level Language, Interpreted Language, Compiled Language, General-Use Language, and Target-Use Language. My sole proprietary covers software design that combine code quality with efficient use of mathematics, logic, syntax, time, memory, and processing power. I have designed algorithms in various fields including Business; E-Commerce; Office Management; Real Estate; Legal; Demography; Technology; Architecture; Structural Engineering; Solid Mechanics; Analysis of Internal Forces (Normal; Shear; Bending Moment); Beams (Simple; Extended; Cantilevered); Frames; Trusses; Statically-Determinate & Statically- Indeterminate Structures; Virtual work; Deflection; Properties of Materials; Reinforced Concrete; Traffic & Transportation Engineering; Fluid Mechanics; Irrigation Engineering; Geotechnical Engineering; Computer-Aided Design & Manufacturing; Matrices & Determinants; Thermodynamics.

About Blake
I'm a physics major and am aspiring to become an educator. I spend my free time programming physics simulations and working on math puzzles. I've been tutoring various subjects including math, physics, and chemistry for the past 2 years to students of all ages.

I believe that the most important principle in learning anything is a strong understanding of the concepts and tools used to solve problems within the field. Since these are cumulative subjects, a concrete foundation allows students to truly prosper and apply their skills to any topics they encounter.
Math is one of my strongest passions and I am always eager to share it with others.

As member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, I'm expected to maintain high academic performance. This motivated me to hold my grades well above the criteria required to be on the President's
Honor List. I'm also in the Fullerton College Honor's Program on the STEM major track.

Aside from Math and Physics, my hobbies include rock climbing, programming, playing shogi (Japanese chess), and crafting violins and surfboards.
