Let me start off by saying that math is my FAVORITE subject! In these tutoring sessions, you will receive help with homework, prepare for tests and quizzes, and better your overall understanding of math. I teach with patience and fun because I feel that this is the key to achieving goals and inspiring a good work ethic.

About Jessie
Thank you for your interest in lessons! I hope to help you achieve your goals and improve your skills, whether you're looking for music lessons, or help in math. Every student is a unique person who deserves a lesson customized to their individual needs. Each of my students prosper in an atmosphere of patience and encouragement. While the lessons are fun and enjoyable, the serious student will be supported in the development of skills leading to a rewarding career, and the more casual students will grow in an appreciation of knowledge that will enrich their lives.

Experience:

I received my bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis on vocal performance at the University of Redlands in 2011 (which I attended on a music talent scholarship), and am now an active performer in Los Angeles, CA. I have been tutoring and teaching privat
e lessons for almost 10 years, and currently have over 40 active students.

I have played leading roles in several operas and musicals in Southern California, including Gianni Schicchi, Die Fledermaus, La Boheme (DTL nominee), The Impresario, The Grand Duke, Patience (DTL award), Cosi fan tutte, Little Women, Seussical, and many more. I have also appeared in several concerts, opera scenes, competitions (winning music scholarships and theater awards), and worked as a singer in churches, restaurants, and in pop bands. I continue to stay active in the performance industry, and I could never live without it!

With this experience under my belt, I feel a desire to pass on my knowledge to students. I carry a strong passion to help people develop their abilities and make them their own. I truly believe that if someone wants something out of life they will achieve it with dedication, perseverance, confidence, and by having FUN doing it!

LET'S MAKE MUSIC!

'Dr. Cliff,' a part-time college/university professor, teacher and tutor with 5 master's and 3 doctoral degrees in a variety of topics: Mathematics, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, MBA, Leadership, Education and Administration. Dr. Cliff believes that, although many professors and teachers do an admirable job in the classroom, many students and children do not learn well in traditional institutions. Many students and children don't respond to the assembly line nature of most institutions. He believes that a student's or child's strengths and natural abilities need to be the foundation of learning. Dr. Cliff often warns against a "cookie cutter" approach to educating students, teenagers and children. You or your child is seen as an individual, and natural strengths are identified and built upon. Therefore, individual one-on-one tutoring or help is the key approach to each student who has any challenges difficulties in a given subject.

In today’s environment and economic challenges, with shorter budgets for the education, larger classes sizes and pressure of performing well in all kind of standard tests, I often see many students lacking true knowledge and skills in a given subject, since they cannot get individualized attention during the class session. That’s where a tutor comes into the picture, not only uncover major “holes” in students’ knowledge set but also teach students how to study, how to learn and through proper guidance “fill” those knowledge and skills holes.

Irfan is an outstanding tutor that I highly recommend. In less than an hour, he had my son understanding the concepts of chemistry that were frustrating him. Even though we were in different time zones, Irfan made sure to accommodate our schedule. While I originally had doubts about the effectiveness of web tutoring, I can honestly state that Irfan made it effective by using screenshare. Irfan also went out of his to share web links that would help my son with the chemistry issues they were working on. Again, I would highly recommend Irfan if you are looking for a chemistry tutor! We will be using him again I am sure!

I taught Math at CPS and in the North Suburbs of Chicago. I believe, my strengths are patience and the ability to explain material in a clear, simple way.

About Julia
I taught Algebra I and Geometry at Clemente High School in Chicago and AP Statistics, Geometry and Trigonometry at Libertyville High School Summer Program. I am currently teaching 7th and 8th grade Math at a private school in Buffalo Grove, IL. I love tutoring students of any age, from elementary to high school. It makes me happy when I see the progress they are making. My Master's Degree is in Curriculum and Instructions from Loyola University, Chicago.
At one point in my life I wanted to be a pharmacist, but when I became a teacher, I realized that that is what I was meant to be. I love helping people. I see how much difference it makes in a student's life when he or she starts to feel confident in Math class, starts to get high scores, starts to dream big. Math opens the doors to a better future, to a better career, to a higher s
elf-esteem. I am grateful for the opportunity to help to make it happen.

Based on your current study level, I'll follow your subject textbook to give you a deeper and clearer understanding, from basic adding and multiplying to calculating the derivative. The main goal of tutoring is to help you understand the concept of why and how a problem should be solved. I can also help to to get ahead of your class.

About Wankun
Hi, I'm Wankun, a college student at CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I've many diverse interests, from music to science. I believe that everybody can do both with a balance, and so far, I'm loving it.

Music was always part of my life. I started to play piano when I was 6 and I've advanced it when I was in high school. Still, there are always room for improvement so I'm still practicing to this day. After I moved to the US I start learning other instruments too. In high school I played oboe in wind ensemble and flute in marching band. I always loved hanging out with our school band, just enjoying music in a friendly, cooperative environment. I love music so much, that I listen to songs every day, and I'm planning to do a music minor.

Math and science is another part of my life that I enjoy. As a kid, I was always intereste
d in science documentaries. In school I was the top students in math and science. I learn really quickly so I got ahead of the subjects. I passed the AP text for Chemistry in my sophomore year and the Calculus AB text in my junior year. Currently, I'm studying for Forensic Science at my College.

I don't have a lot of teaching experience, but I believe my ability to share my knowledge with others. I love helping people and I understand that learning can sometimes be overwhelming and boring. So I always love to teach with some twists, we can both enjoy the session and also complete our goal: to advance your knowledge.

Thank you for being interested in me to be your teacher. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Business Profile:

In a digital age, learning software, software programming, and mathematics have become as vital as learning reading, writing, and arithmetic. Learning IT is essential in pre-college education, college education, workplace, acquiring advancements in current job; searching for a better job; managing businesses; and managing one’s personal life. Thinking computationally is something that every well-educated person needs to know and should know. There is a great digital divider between the Knows and Know Nots. Crossing this digital divider requires solid understanding of dig
ital concepts. One should not only live with these concepts, but could hardly live without. Many find a lot of IT potential opportunities but not enough knowledge to benefit from these opportunities.

I have helped people of all walks of life how to cross this digital divider. This includes professionals, business owners, college graduate students, college undergraduate students, high school students, and job applicants.

I am exceedingly-educated and I manage to close the digital gab by simplifying mathematical and computer science concepts. I do not simply repeat what has been already detailed in trillions of pages of books and lectures. Everyone’s mind is different and thus everyone has a unique perception to understanding one issue or another.

I have taught programming algorithms, pseudo programming codes, programming codes in Python and other computer languages, Databases, Microsoft Office Applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Publisher, MS Access, MS Outlook), and other IT areas for different levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced.

I am a programmer analyst. I have an IT sole proprietary business that deals with the design of computer software including programming analysis, databases, and data analysis. My sole proprietary business also covers software programming in computer languages that span from earlier languages such as BASIC, FORTRAN PASCAL, DBASE, COBOL to languages that continued and expanded such as C. And newer languages such as PYTHON with its extended libraries that managed to combine other tools and programming languages and became in its 3.x version an object-oriented language that runs linearly. Computer languages that include Weakly-Typed language, Strongly-Typed Language, High-Level Language, Low-Level Language, Interpreted Language, Compiled Language, General-Use Language, and Target-Use Language. My sole proprietary covers software design that combine code quality with efficient use of mathematics, logic, syntax, time, memory, and processing power. My name is Bruce. I am a mechanical and manufacturing engineer at a large company in Silicon Valley, California. I have acquired a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as a Masters in Engineering Management. I was interested in learning the programming language Python and signed up for tutoring lessons with Ahmed. After the first initial lessons, I then signed up for another thirty five lessons. I plan to continue lessons with Ahmed until I have gained significant proficiency in programming.
I am very pleased that I have met Ahmed and that I am taking lessons with him. He has helped me with computational skills and learning what programming is and why and how it works. Ahmed has patiently helped me with the debugging of my programs. I have been able to design programs that are mathematically eloquent, logically sound, and that are free of syntax errors. Without hesitation, I would recommend Ahmed for anyone that requires help in IT.
Ahmed has been helping me design efficient programs that include understanding of variables, lists, conditional statements, loops, functions, and theory of probability. I like the fact that Ahmed merges the curricular of universities that include Harvard, Yale, MIT, and Stanford. Ahmed’s presentations use videos, audio, graphics, and PowerPoint, all of which have been very helpful.
Ahmed has a strong command of the English language as well as the computer languages. Ahmed combines an impressive knowledge of mathematics, history, politics, and sociology. Learning Python opens numerous opportunities in one’s academics, professional and personal life. Python can be incorporated into Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, and other software. I am looking forward to future training in machine learning and artificial intelligence. Thanks.

I am a math instructor, teaching small classes as well as individual lessons. I received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at the University of Puget Sound in 2016 and am open to all ages and all levels. I would cater lessons to the student's specific goals and strive to help them better understand difficult concepts as well as build a solid foundation for higher level math.

About Jenna
I am a performer, teacher, and student. While working towards a Masters in Performance with the Los Angeles Philharmonic's Burt Hara at Cal State Fullerton, I have subbed with local orchestras as well as participated in recording projects in Orange County. At the University, I perform with the wind symphony, orchestra, and new music ensemble.

When I was a child, my uncle, a doctor for the CDC in Atlanta, was visiting for Christmas. I only saw him once a year, and this year he gave me a pink plastic recorder. After becoming immediately obsessed with the small instrument, I begged my parents for lessons. “Lessons on the recorder?” they laughed. Every Christmas, my uncle would bring a duet book, and we would play duets on recorder. Finally, in third grade, my parents started me on piano and the next year, I began private lessons on
clarinet.

I found my passion for playing at a young age. I believe that although it is important to build good technique, practice habits, and musicality, it is also important to keep the passion and joy that playing music can bring us. As I grow as a person and a musician, I always try to remember what brought me to music in the first place: playing and enjoying music with my friends and peers.

Aside from performance, I discovered my passion for teaching as I started working with students in private lessons and working as a camp counselor at a woodwind camp. I was invited to sub with the Auburn Symphony and was excited to perform Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no. 2 beside my mentor and friend, Jennifer Nelson. Today, I am indebted to the inspiration my uncle gave me as a child and all my teachers for my opportunity to pursue a Masters of Music in Clarinet Performance at Cal State Fullerton.

Succinct and helpful math tutoring (with a sprinkling of humor thrown in)!

Want help from someone who aced his SAT Math portion for a perfect score of 800?

I have been a professional tutor since 2006, helping countless students since then learn and grow in their math skills. If you want quick and capable help in growing your math skills, let me know!

About Daniel
Hello! My name is Daniel Joseph, though most people call me "Joe". I have a number of passions in life, including academics and music. I have played piano since I was 5 years old and picked up a slew of other instruments along the way (violin, guitar, bass, drums, etc.). I was in a professional boy choir from ages 8-13 and was privileged to sing around the world, in the Vatican, on the TV show 'Dexter', multiple showings for 'Good Morning America', and more! But...piano was always my first love.

On the academic side of things, I was privileged to become a professional math, writing, and reading tutor in 2006 with Kumon Centers before branching out with my own practice. I have consistently helped hundreds of students from pre-school to college improve in those two disciplines. I enjoy building friendships with my students and would love
to help YOU improve your grades. I missed only one question on my SAT and was accepted to Harvard a few months later (though I chose not to attend). Currently, I am a card-carrying member of MENSA (a High-IQ society whose members must have an IQ within the top 2%). If you want a fun but knowledgeable tutor to help you grow, I'm your man!

Musically, I have been trained in the classical and jazz styles, taken part in piano competitions since I was 10 years old, won many awards on the regional and state level, and played with many orchestras, bands, and other groups over the years. I also had a number of years where I played professionally for events and shows. All this to say, I am no stranger to the stage and to what it takes to "make it" in the music world while still remembering why you love the instrument you play.

Whether you are wanting to learn how to play the best of Mozart, jam with your friends in a band, or build a strong foundation of musical theory so that you can switch instruments (or impress your loved ones) with ease, I can help.

I fervently believe that music and our academic studies are a part of who we are, and if you want to learn how to express yourself on the ivories or with numbers, I'm your man!

I have been through many levels of math and I have tutored high school children before. I feel very confident that I can teach in a way that students can learn best.

About Adrian
My name is Adrian and I am currently attending the University of California San Diego. I feel confident that any high school or middle school student will learn a few things in math or Spanish. I can relate to many students as to why they might be having trouble learning. I have been involved in Link Crew which is a program to help incoming freshmen in high school. My job is to make sure students learn in the most comfortable way for them.
