I have been playing the guitar for 13 years, then started learning classical guitar approximately 7 years ago. As a recent graduate from Southeastern Louisiana University, I have been teaching guitar and ukulele lessons as well as classes since the spring of this year (2017). I hold a bachelor's degree in music performance with my primary instrument being the guitar.
I can help you to acquire a solid foundation of music theory knowledge. You can help to better understand music theory concepts if they are paired with guitar techniques to supplement them.
If you are a complete beginner, do not be afraid! I will help you to learn at a pace which is comfortable but still effective for you. These lessons will be focused and designed to fit YOUR needs. Let's learn together :)

Others will strengthen reading and interpretive skills through working with great works by masters such as Bach, Barrios, Tarrega and Brouwer. It has been truly incredible to witness my fiance transform in a few short weeks from someone scared of learning a new instrument to someone who is confident that he can learn a new skill provided he puts in the time and effort to practice and show up! Michael has given him the confidence and the inspiration to make amazing progress as a student.
I highly recommend Michael as an instructor. He really makes the virtual format work and he knows how to introduce beginner musicians to the joys of learning how to express yourself on an instrument.

I can teach traditional classical guitar finger picking techniques using a nylon string guitar. I can also teach fingerpicking on steel string acoustic guitar, as well as performing and arranging classical pieces on the electric guitar. I also love to make my own arrangements of classical pieces from other instruments. My personal favorites to perform are J. S. Bach and Heitor Villa-Lobos.
