I have a M.M. in vocal performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts and have extensive operatic training. I teach an open throat technique (appoggio) that allows the singer to sing with freedom, and access their entire range evenly. I also work with students to develop style, interpretation, languages, and acting ability.

About Benjamin

I have extensively studied vocal performance for many years and continue to add to my own technique. I have a Master of Vocal Performance Degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. Acting a Song
Let's work on perfecting the story. Especially in musical theatre it is important to portray your journey through the song. Many people can sing well but how you tell a story is going to be unique to everyone else, and that is what is going to make you stand out at auditions. Lets dig deep into your work!

Vocal Technique
I was originally trained classically, and as I've grown as an artisit I have also learned how to sing many other styles, such as musical theatre, pop, jazz, etc. I believe that everyone is capable of learning the technique for any style no matter if they consider themeselves a "legit soprano", or a "powerhouse belter". In our voice lessons we will work on the technique of whatever style you want to work on. Let's make some music!

I am a classically trained singer, and I prioritize health above all else when teaching voice. As a soloist, I work with students to improve their abilities to sing confidently and technically efficient by themselves. I teach everything from standard operatic repertoire, musical theater (helping them get roles like Cinderella from "Into the Woods" and Gabriella from "High School Musical"), popular music, and much more. I love learning from my students and their interests.

About Madeline

Hello! I'm Madeline, and I'm a vocal instructor, beginner-piano teacher, and music theory tutor. I've been a tutor since Fall 2014, and teaching private voice lessons since January 2015. I love introducing students to new repertoire, showing them a different way of looking at concepts, and helping

Madeline is a really kind and enthusiastic instructor. She helped me feel comfortable with my voice and validated my singing, granted I'm not the best singer. I think that's a really great start to singing. I was starting to see some growth in my singing because Madeline helped me become more aware of my body and singing, but I had to discontinue lessons because of certain life circumstances. Would totally recommend.

"I wrote a review several months ago after my first lesson. I have been taking lessons once a week with Michelle and Robert for several months now and felt it was time to write another review. I listened to a recording of my last lesson and compared it to my first lesson. Wow, what a difference! I couldn't believe it was me on the recording! My voice has developed a powerful and refined quality it never had before. My singing has become effortless and my range has expanded greatly and continues to expand. I can't recommend them enough. I look forward to every lesson because not only are they amazing vocal coaches, they are the nicest people you will ever meet. They are enthusiastic, encouraging, fun, and quite hilarious. My lessons always end too soon and I always improve upon my technique in some way after each lesson. I had taken voice lessons before many, many years ago and the experience was not so great. I found Michelle and Robert through an online search and decided to give them a try and I won the vocal coach lottery. I couldn't have found two better coaches. Wherever you are in your vocal training--whether you're just starting out or looking to improve upon your technique--I am convinced that Robert and Michelle will be able to help you."

"I can't imagine where I'd be if I had not crossed paths with Fawn. She is one talented woman. I am a coloratura soprano with a degree in vocal performance from the New England Conservatory of Music; when I met Fawn I was struggling to simply keep my head above water as I attempted to readjust to life in the city after spending several years recovering from a traumatic vocal chord injury. I had tried everything traditional Western medicine had to offer as well as several alternative healing methods but nothing was working to get me back on track towards the performing career that I wanted. Many practitioners that I had met with previously had at most a shallow understanding of the unique and very complicated physical and emotional demands of a professional operatic career and I was dispirited, hopeless and seriously considering giving up the thought of ever performing at all much less professionally again.
Since I began studying with her last summer, she has helped me find a physical and mental equilibrium that I previously thought was unattainable. In addition, I have gained an invaluable and specific practical understanding of my personal challenges and strengths as a direct result of the unique and deeply insightful ways in which she handles any problem I bring to her. In a few short months my life and outlook has changed tremendously. I had the courage to audition for and consequently booked my first professional gig since my injury, began the process of planning a production of an original composition and have been encouraged by my teacher to seriously consider singing for both national and international auditions next year. If there is a "Vocal Whisperer" Fawn is it.
To be truly understood as a performing artist (and one dealing with a vocal injury while attempting a career, is a rare and amazing experience. Not only is she amazingly well versed in several nutritional, spiritual and physical disciplines but her unique ability to adjust them into a specialized program for your specific situation and personality type make the service she offers invaluable and like nothing else I've ever experienced. Not only is she deeply empathic, compassionate, giving and sympathetic but she is also refreshingly disciplined in her ability to organize you and get to the heart of the matter. She tailors your lessons in a way that makes them easily accessible and memorable. She has the rare ability to inspire you. She never makes you feel judged, she never 'shames' you into compliance (like my other coaches did), but instead Fawn encourages and wins you over with a warm and comforting sense of humor and grace.
I am deeply grateful to have had and continue to have the opportunity to work with such an original, remarkable and talented individual. I can't recommend her highly enough and personally consider my lessons an essential part of a professional vocal career for anyone who wants to sing correctly and safely (and) stay safe, healthy, happy and sane."

"I have been singing opera for 7 years now, and Christine had the most thorough teaching process by far! I found my real voice underneath all the conformity I had been taught through choir and am now moving through singing more powerful and with my "real voice." She is open to workshopping repertoire that you are interested in, and suggests things that will help you grow your voice while not pushing an agenda, so you feel as though you have lots of artistic freedom.
Also just a super warm and authentic person. Overall a great experience!"

8 Beautiful Opera Arias for Beginner Singers

It is always exciting when a vocal student is ready to start studying his or her first operatic aria! One of the best things about being a classical singer is knowing you have so many great years ahead of you. After all, you’re considered in your prime in your 40s. That being said, realize that the voice you have now and the repertoire you’ll first study will be very, very different from what you sing later on in your career. It’s absolutely crucial that you sing repertoire that is …
