Techniques and theory to get you grooving in any style. Work on general concepts, specific tunes or both.

About Luke
I majored in music at Berea College, then went on to The University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where I completed a Masters degree in guitar performance and served as the graduate assistant to the guitar department.

For the past ten years I have earned a living performing and teaching guitar. I am a certified Suzuki instructor, and I've held teaching positions at Winston Salem State University and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, along with at least half a dozen other schools and institutions. I've been featured on other artists' records, and received a grant to release an album of my own songs. I regularly perform in a wide variety of bands and ensembles.

I love to teach, and over the years I have taught hundreds, maybe even thousands of lessons. Having learned something from each and every one
of my students, I am now at a point where I excel at honing in on the individual interests and learning styles of whoever comes to me for help. There are many ways to learn guitar. The best one is the one that engages and inspires you the most. That said, there are also music fundamentals that we all need to know. My joy as a teacher lies in finding a way for you to master the fundamentals while at the same time following your personal bliss and intuition. We plot the course together, combining your curiosity and enthusiasm with my years of experience.

I also love working with kids. While they are having fun jamming, I discretely provide them with the technique and musicianship they'll need to excel in any musical environment, whether it's conservatory study or playing in a great band.

*** Lesson Details ***
Your enthusiasm is the key to your success, so my lessons are tailored to the interests and abilities of each student. That said, my classical background and dedication to effective teaching inform everything I do.

All of my students learn Music Fundamentals:
-Technique (habits of movement)
-Theory (how music works)
-Aural skills (hearing pitches, chords and rhythms clearly)

Many of my students use books. There are hundreds of great books these days, and I will work with students from any book they choose. Listed here are the books I regularly use. They all deliver great results:

-Aaron Shearer "Leaning The Classic Guitar"
-Will Schmidt and Greg Koch "The Hal Leonard Method"
-Joe Pecoraro "Read This First"
-David Oaks "Music Reading For Guitar"
-William Leavitt "A Modern Method For Guitar"
-Mateo Carcassi "Melodic and Progressive Studies, Opus 60"
-Leo Brouwer "Simple Studies"

Many of my students prefer to work without a book, and that is a great option too. These students learn scales, chords and theory and develop a repertoire of songs. I will show you how to play any song you'd like to learn. You can also work on writing your own songs or compositions, or improvising in any context, be it jazz, blues, Indian raga or flamenco.

Singing is also encouraged!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Home studio: music stands, extensive library of all kinds of music, great sound system and ability to stream any song, several guitars, recording equipment, footstools, keyboard and percussion instruments.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I'll bring my guitar and books, accessories as needed.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in versatility. I regularly play gigs doing classical, jazz, blues, rock, pop, and world music. All of these genres have a place in my heart, and I've devoted years to learning to play and teach them well.

I am equally polyamorous when it comes to the various things musicians do. I love to sing pop songs, dissect jazz lines, delve into expressive groupings with classical pieces, drill scales and arpeggios, you name it. Reading, improvising, composing and notating, transcribing and playing by ear, memorization, classical technique, blues technique, bluegrass technique, theoretical analysis... hit me up for any of that, or whatever else interests you.

Together we will explore reading sheet music as well as playing by ear. Students learn music theory and how to apply concepts to their favorite songs; this produces great improvisation and arrangements from students!

About Chris
Hi there! My name is Chris and I've been playing music my entire life and I believe that with the right attitude and environment anyone can achieve musical greatness!

I was born into a musical family and have studied classical piano since I was 4 years old! I am very well versed in music theory and proper technique, with an emphasis on avoiding player's injuries, as well as a great knowledge of classical Pieces for any skill level.

Alas!

As a young teenager I grew rebellious and learned how to play the electric guitar and have since sought teachers outside my family to learn modern styles and 5 other instruments!! I have also worked toward a music degree and have made music the center of my life.

Classical music is not everyone's passion but a good practice routine, attitude and environment is always a good thing to ha
ve as these things are important regardless of your favorite music.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are held with a fun and relaxed attitude. Learning music should always be enjoyable and a good attitude and love for music is cultured and encouraged.

Lessons are structured just like a practice session should be. We will begin with a warm-up exercise designed to acquaint you with the proper technique to meet your personal musical goals. the next activities are highly personalized, but is usually something like reading music or a music theory game. These activities are things that are good for you but may not be your favorite part of learning music. They will, however, go a long way toward your better understanding of how your favorite music is structured.

Examples could be learning about 12 bar blues, common strum patterns (for guitar), scales, sight-reading, or music analysis.

We will spend the rest of class learning and practicing an activity of your choice. This is usually a song but can be anything you wish to improve upon. this is usually a long-term goal of yours. *I've always wanted to learn......*

By structuring our lessons the same as how you will practice, and by keeping good notes, it will be easy for you to take on practice at home and achieve all of your musical goals!

*** Travel Equipment ***
Students should have their own guitar/piano/keyboard etc. Guitar/violin students should also have a music stand and tuner to keep at home. I will bring picks, spare tuner, music, and handouts.

*** Specialties ***
I primarily specialize in classical piano in styles such as Muzio Clementi and Frederic Chopin. I also play Bach and various Spanish classical guitar pieces. I have also extensively studied electric guitar in Blues such ZZ Top, Metal such as Metallica, and rock such as Led Zeppelin. I have also studied Irish and Celtic folk music for instruments such as Mandolin and Violin.

I've been teaching music for 15 yrs on guitar, piano, bass, cello and bass. My students have ranged from from 5yrs to 75yrs of age. I have seen many student go on to join orchestras, bands, broadway shows or simply continued their education to a university or college. Being able to read music profeciently has given me the opportunity to teach off many method books but like to use Alfred Method, Mel Bay and Frederick Noad Method books. I teach many styles ranging from classical, jazz & blues, rock, contemporary and pop. I do stress and recommend all my students to learn how to read music and usually by our second or third lesson they will playing simple songs. I am here to help you make music!

About OMAR
Knowing that you are looking for a instructor to teach you music puts a smile on my face. You see, music has been a part of my life since the age of 3. Some of my first memories are of me accompanying my father at home with his rehearsals or just singing together to have fun as a family. I believe music is a gift that unites people together bringing out our deepest emotions that words cannot express. At the age of 5 I received an organ and from that point on I embarked on a long life journey to indulge and learn more about music. In elementary, junior high and high school I was involved in any subject dealing with music. I joined school choirs, orchestras, bands, marching bands, jazz bands, musicals you name it. While enjoying all school music activities I was selected to join in honor county and state orchestras and choirs. In junior h
igh and high school I was selected to play for the Junior Pacific Symphony Orchestra, received scholarships to music summer camps, and was selected musician of the year. In college my quest continued with the Orange Coast College Orchestra, Praise Symphony Orchestra, Vanguard University Orchestra as well as guitar ensembles and college choir groups. I've also taken private lessons from Dr. Art David (Julliard graduate) in stand up bass as well as David Black (Pacific Symphony Orchestra) and classical guitar with Richard Glenn and David Murray. I've been teaching now for 15 years in guitar, classical guitar, bass guitar, stand up bass, cello, piano and voice ranging from 5 yr old to 65 yr old. My styles of music range from classical, jazz, rock, blues and contemporary. At this point I'm enjoying playing and singing in my church choir and worship team as well as teaching my two kids the joys of music. I hope you truly enjoy the joy of learning music whether it be through me or another teacher.

*** Lesson Details ***
As a teacher I require all students to set time aside to practice. For without it, it is only wasting your time, your money and my time. I don't expect a total dedication to it but I do want to see some effort put into it. A little practice can go a long way and the more you do it, the faster you will progress and the more you will enjoy it. We will first start off with what you want out of music and the level you are at and go from there. Student can bring their own music either thru tabs, music sheet or just by ear but one thing I do expect is a student to learn how to read music notation. We will go thru the regular warm up exercises, material practiced during the week and any new music for the following week. Correct techniques in how to hold your instrument or voice procedures will be addressed. Music theory will also be part of the lesson as well as ear training. At the end of either 3 to 6 months you will have learned the basics of music and will be playing songs for you or someone else to enjoy. I will make it a total relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere but some dedication has to put on the students' part.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Dedicated music room, guitar both classical and electric, piano, cello, upright bass and electric bass guitar

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide my own instrument. I can also provide music stand, small amplifier if needed and music material for the first few lesson until student provides for him/her self. Student must have own instrument.

*** Specialties ***
My way of teaching would have to be that they must learn how to read music while learning how to play an instrument.

You will use the notation system that suits you best. I have developed one that a 6 year old can read. you will learn to slap and pop the bass. Pull Offs, and Hammer On. You will be guided by me through method books with supplemental materials I create to help you advance. I have been teaching bass guitar for 5 years. I want to be your next instructor.

About Mark
I NOW TEACH ONLINE LESSONS. I teach according to your individual needs. I only teach in my own studio. I do not travel anymore. I also have time to teach lessons every other week. You may inquire to me about my availability to teach every other week on Saturdays. I help you become successful on piano, violin, cello, viola, bass, guitar, or bass guitar. I help you learn the instrument and learn to read music with my own ideas using fun worksheets and songs you really like to learn how to play. I fill your voids with activities such as practice techniques, sub-lessons, and ear training. I guide you toward proper posture, tone development, and the ability to keep a steady beat. I help you develop your musical independence by tweaking lessons to help you succeed. I help you have fun learning to read music for your instrument using my materia
ls. I believe talent is not a factor in learning. Mastering an instrument is the result of effective instruction and step by step guidance toward foundations and skills. I love to teach private lessons because I believe in spreading the word to make the great gift of playing music available to many. It is an inherited right and gift to enjoy a lifetime of personal satisfaction from playing a musical instrument. I love to help students build confidence and make progress. I help them problem solve by going through problems with them. I teach "how to think" and how to become a life long learner of the instrument. I love the challenge of finding ways to help students become successful at every step of the way. I am excited and enthused to be apart of student progress. I am influenced by many 20th Century performers including Van Cliburn, Oscar Peterson, George Shearing, Erroll Garner, Yudi Menuhin, Issac Stern, Dave Brubeck, and Horowitz among others. I am passionate in my teaching about providing an effective solution to my student's needs. I am pleased to announce my teaching has awarded a cello student a spot at Del Sol music high school for the 2017-2018 school year. this student of mine passed an audition January of 2017 as a result of my teaching. The student worked very hard and followed my instruction very well. Congratulations!! I am also pleased to announce two of my cello students have both passed auditions to play in the Las Vegas Youth Orchestra starting in September 2017 and September 2018. They both auditioned during May 2017 and May 2018. Congratulations to both of you!!! I also had a violin student who passed auditions for LVA (Las Vegas Academy) a couple of years ago. I have no connection to these organizations. These students all worked hard and followed my instruction. I can help you learn as well. Recently with the development of "octave" strings, if you have been split between learning violin, viola, or cello; these strings installed on a violin or viola make the instrument sound like a cello. It is really something. They are tuned an octave below, so they sound very low. A lot of cello music will have to be transcribed for owners of these instruments installed with "octave" strings. Videos can be found on YOU TUBE of these instruments played. They are ordinary violins or violas strung up with thicker strings to sound an octave below.

I am a professional educator who works with both children and adults, and has the patience to help them. I am a performer who has over 30 years of public experience in solo playing as well as ensemble work. I have performed at Nordstrom for nine years, and performed at many private functions. I have performed classical as well as jazz music as part as my performance experience. I have taught private lessons for well over 17 years. I'm sorry, as of Summer 2016 I do not travel to student locations. I teach at my studio as well as online. If you are among the many parents who home-school your children, you should consider music lessons for them. There are many benefits of home-schooling, but unfortunately students miss out on specials. Practicing an instrument can make up for that and also teach critical learning habits and personal skills toward learning in general.

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe in personalizing your approach to the strangeness of the instrument. You need to learn much about posture, and proper tone production within the first year. Method books are not "how to" books. You need a teacher to guide you toward becoming familiar with the instrument. You also need to learn how to listen to the sounds you make as you play. To develop "musical independence" you need to become musically literate, develop tone production skills, and internalize a steady beat. Rhythm and tone are basic concepts that must be mastered to maximize pleasure in playing your instrument. Learning how to problem solve is another skill I teach so you can help yourself toward progress.
I believe in using the instrument in daily activities such as playing "Happy Birthday" at family get together. Christmas Songs or Hanukkah Songs can bring much joy during December family parties.
A musician in the house brings much joy during holidays and celebrations; and the families are brought closer together. Memories are created and last forever. Playing an instrument is exciting and expresses what can not be said using words. I believe in teaching students based on their strengths, and building upon them. I am excited to help you learn!!

I only teach in my own studio and online. I do not travel anymore.

You can advance quickly if you are taught to listen to yourself and follow my instruction. I will guide you every step of the way to understand how music making works. Music lessons are fun and enjoyable. I am pleased to guide you through your learning every step of the way. My students in Las Vegas have had much success with my teaching and guidance. I will succeed where others fail. You will reap the benefits of my professional instruction. I bring a wealth of teaching experience, teacher training, and professional playing experience to every lesson. Most music store studio instructors have very little or no teacher training. Playing experience does not make one a helpful teacher. Failure to learn "how to" teach along with not earning any teaching credentials will not make a satisfying music instructor.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Grand Piano 5'1', Digital Piano 88 Keys, Violin, Viola, Bass Guitars ( 5 String Fretless), electric guitar (Fender), Upright Bass 3/4 Size French/German Bows.

*** Specialties ***
Suzuki for string instruments. Thompson, Schaum for piano. Blues, Jazz and " Real Book " for jazz piano as well as Frank Mantooth books for chords. I also create materials to suit individual student needs. Classical Piano Volumes.

I teach electric bass guitar.

About Cameron
STUDYING WITH ME:

Learning guitar should be interesting and fun! While we're studying all the different aspects of the instrument, you'll also be learning how to play your favorite songs and solos! I approach each student as an individual and structure their lessons according to what I determine they need, as well as what they are interested in musically. I concentrate on many different areas; ear training, theory, playing technique, improvisation, various styles of music, and, the physics of the guitar. Understanding how the instrument works is important in my opinion. My long term goal is to teach a student how they can teach themselves down the line. Understanding why you’re playing something is just important as knowing how to play it. I aim to give a student rich and well rounded one-on-one time!

GENERAL BIOGRAPHY:

I h
ave been teaching and performing for over a decade both in the US, and in England. I have played in various bands and have produced independent artists. I have worked for a recording studio and for various academic institutions including the Filomen M. D'Agostino Greenberg Music School in New York city.

I obtained my degree from Purchase College in New York and am a member of their Conservatory of Music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I construct lessons for each individual student depending on their musical tastes, goals, and current skill level etc. I want each person to get as much from their time studying with me as possible. Within three to six months, I'll have you working on timing, theory, ear training, improv, and songs/styles of music you may be interested in. I'm laid back, however, I expect at least the minimum practice time between lessons, which I'll change throughout the course of our time together depending on your skill level etc. Practice materials I draw up are included. I write out everything in plain English and do not require the use of sheet music!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Small recording studio, piano, various guitars, bass, and amps.

*** Travel Equipment ***
guitar, bass, laptop, digital recorder.

*** Specialties ***
I concentrate on ear training, improvisation, and explore styles ranging from pop, alternative, rock, prog, and blues, to metal, funk, and folk etc. I do not require sight reading skills for any level of student. Rather, I work with the student with theory and arrangement conventions to really understand the music. This intern, greatly sharpens their musical ear and helps them to learn music much faster because they understand how it is put together; why and how it works, etc.

***Teaching Special Needs***
I have experience teaching students who have been visually impaired,
blind, hearing impaired, or who have had mild learning disabilities. I
am also comfortable with a student bringing their service dog or
therapy dog to our lessons if they wish.

Open and individualized lessons will teach each student in a unique fashion to fit them best. Chords, theory and musical reading will be the main focus of these lessons. My individualized approach works well for many students so that they learn what they want, how they want, and see the results that they specifically are looking for.

Students can expect to learn anything from basic chords to advanced theory and improvisational techniques on their instrument.

Although bass guitar is a secondary instrument for me, I have always taken much enjoyment in playing and teaching it. I have been playing bass for nearly as long as guitar and feel that it is a very important instrument that could be just as rewarding to play as any other instrument. My mastery over bass comes more from my time spent as a guitarist, however I do understand many nuances behind playing bass and can instruct you confidently on the correct/required methods as far as this instrument is concerned.

About Chris
I began teaching music professionally in 2015 and since then it has become my passion. I graduated college with a degree in music and teach professionally as my primary source of income. I regularly teach guitar and bass (4 string 5 string and fretless) as well as introductory piano and even college level courses such as: music theory, composition and songwriting; all of which can be applied to any instrument. I am also confident teaching left handed students and am great with younger students. If you have any questions, feel free to call, text, or email at any time.

Swing Barons, The Inland Empire Swing Orchestra, Sonora Santanera groups, Willie and The Road Tramps, Irie Nationz, The Goodlow Company, Domestic Imports, Buddha Bomb, Angry Babies, Space Camp Stowaways, The Debonaires, and more! I am currently in a few different groups playing all over Southern California and beyond.
I will bring the best out of your playing, take a lesson with me and you will get better! I have years of experience that you can tap into; in order for you to reach your musical goals. My education philosophy is student focused and I draw from a lot of different teaching concepts like Kodàly method, Orff method, Susuki method, and more. I am much more than just an instructor, but your also getting a mentor and a life coach. Sign up for a lesson today!

Steven is a very good instructor. He has a wonderful personality. He!s firm, knowledgeable, and knows how to encourage the student to work hard. My son has learned a lot from him in a short period of time as a beginner. I’d definitely recommend Steven.
