About Teri
I love to sing (yay!) and am a professional singer/songwriter and a vocal coach & have been for many years. Named a top vocal coach in Backstage Magazine, I have coached beginners to pros, children to adult, whether they want to perform, record, just enjoy/fun or eventually pursue a serious singing career. My students have gone on to tour, get signed, do musical theatre (amateur & professional) or just enjoying singing freely with a great technique. I am considered encouraging and warm (see my reviews), but also know what it is to be at a level where you consistently sound great! This is my focus and is very encouraging to students. They will see themselves making progress and reaching set goals! I am an expert in pop technique (no opera or classical, sorry!), and work with students to preserve and take care of the voice. In lessons, we w
ill also have fun learning popular songs (from current hits to classic pop & rock) and look for opportunities to sing them. From pop to rock to R&B to country & more, students can explore their faves! Whether you or your child is a beginner, just-for-fun singer or singer/songwriter to pro, each student will be able to learn the skills they need to sing from their heart, find their own true voice and for serious singers, take it to the next level.

Teri has taught voice for over 17 years to all ages and all levels, led and trained various bands and groups for over 20 years. Named as a Top Vocal Coach by Backstage Magazine 2015, she is a club hit recording artist and premier LA vocal coach. Her vocals have graced full length CD's, cuts on various records, performances on TV and radio, and gained her a nomination for Best Female Vocalist, All Access Music Awards. She is the author of Vocal Essentials for the Pop Singer: Take Your Singing from Good to Great, from Hal Leonard Publishing. Teri has a Master's Degree in Education and a Bachelors Degree in Speech Pathology. She studied music at Blue Bear School of Music in San Francisco including music theory, vocal technique and vocal performance, guitar and stage performance. She had a dance club hit in the 90's which garnered success on mix shows and dance charts across the country.

She specializes in getting the best out of her students -- giving them a solid vocal technique to let their natural ability shine. Her students will attest to her positive, relaxed and encouraging teaching style.

In addition to learning the basics, Teri can help students get their voice in shape for events, school projects/plays, auditions (American Idol etc...), a solo or band project, and more!

Teri offers flexibility with scheduling to accommodate students various needs including day/eves and weekends. Studio is in a convenient Westside LA location.

*** Lesson Details ***
Students can expect a fun lesson with vocal warm-up exercises, and lots of singing, in a supportive environment. Teri works out of her home studio and online. so students can work with microphones and instruments.

Children
Voice lessons build confidence and enthusiasm, and help prepare children for performing in front of others. Singing at a young age develops vocal abilities, but more importantly develops a child's aural abilities (recognizing melodies, harmonies, etc.) as well as the ability to focus, take direction and be creative.

Performing / Recording / Vocal Health
Recording, performing and touring presents unique challenges to singers. By concentrating on breathing, vocal tone, vocal production and tension reduction, warm-up exercises, and range building exercises, these lessons help increase stamina, build vocal tone, and reduce the effects of vocal fatigue for those who sing long hours at a time.

Church / Worship Leading
Singing on praise/worship teams is an art form all of it's own. Lessons centered around this kind of singing focus on the areas of blending, tone, hearing harmonies, and keeping your part in a group. For the soloist / worship leader, lessons help in the areas of projection, tone, range, runs, and breathing.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have recording equipment and microphones, piano, guitar.

*** Specialties ***
voice, voice lessons, voice singing lessons, voice coaching, vocal technique, voice training, speaking (speakers), auditions, broadway singing (pop technique only), music theory, musical theatre, singing, speaking acting voice, acting, theatrical singing, adults, all levels, audition prep, beginner to advanced, breathing technique, children's basics, pro vocal technique, rock pop styling, stamina based breathing, theatre singing, voice actors, voice over artists, using your body as an instrument, getting students to record quality, building vocal tone, and assisting students in finding their own voice.

About Crystal
Crystal brings a lifetime’s experience of professional musicianship to each of her lessons. Born into a family of musicians, she sang her first solo at age 2. She also benefits her students with an extraordinarily diverse musical background, having worked as a vocalist in gospel, country, musical theater, jazz, classical, rock, pop and soul styles. Her performing career has taken her from L.A. church meetings to London’s Houses of Parliament.

Crystal hails originally from Los Angeles, CA - where her musical parents gave her a head start by including her in the family business the moment she was able to contribute. She went on to study classical voice, piano and music theory at The Boston Conservatory of Music. After concluding her studies in London, she returned home and began working regularly as a theater performer, appearing in twen
ty world premiers and re-imagined classics. Most notably she played the lead role of Keely Smith in the big band jazz musical “Louis and Keely: Live At The Sahara” during its eight-month run at Westwood’s Geffen Playhouse. She also formed her own rock band, The Honeysuckle Jones Revival, with whom she performed her own songs all over Los Angeles. And she began working as a studio session vocalist, providing demo vocals for other songwriters, as well as arranging and performing back-up vocals for original artists, including Laura Roppe (currently in the Top Ten on Billboard’s Uncharted list of emerging artists.) Crystal played the lead role of Brooke in the new operatic rock musical “The Burning Opera LA” during its Los Angeles run in 2011 as well as providing ensemble vocals and playing piano and bass. She also performs holiday tunes from the Golden Age of American songwriting with musical quartet The Sleigh Belles.

Crystal believes that music is serious business but that it should be fun. She encourages her students to play music they love, as well as expanding their musical knowledge. She is a firm believer in basics first and emphasizes theory and technique as the tools to support creativity and provide freedom, power and control. She believes effort beats talent every time and the student who practices consistently will see results, whatever their level of ability. Most of all, she believes we were all born to make music.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lesson structure varies depending on the student's instrument, age, level of experience and musical style. However, all lessons focus on:

Technique
Music theory
Performance style

After 3 or 6 months of consistent lesson attendance and practice, students will have a clear understanding of how their instrument works and how to care for it. They will be able to read basic music notation. They will be working toward clearly defined musical goals and they will have at least three performance pieces learned.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Loft Space: full size electric piano with weighted keys, small digital recorder, microphone, Garage Band, parents can sit in on lessons

*** Travel Equipment ***
I bring a small keyboard for vocal students with no piano, karaoke tracks and a digital recorder. I also bring a selection of games. Students are expected to purchase all necessary books and sheet music.

*** Specialties ***

Amazing singng instructor

Crystal has increased my daughter’s self-esteem and expressiveness through song. My daughter is now writing her own poetry and song lyrics, as well as being able to combat her once shyness quality. She loves to perform in front of others now and has a confidence level that amazes me, especially now that she is going into those “teen” years. I think a lot of thanks needs to go to Crystal, for assisting my daughter in reaching her current creative level!

Great piano instructor

Crystal is an amazing piano instructor. She is patient, understanding and dedicated. My daughter has learned so much from her. My daughter’s love for music has increased immensely since learning how to play the piano. This would never have been able to be accomplished without Crystal’s professional and caring teaching style.

Taught me a choreography that I needed to perform in a few hours for a video we were recording on the same day. Even though it was last-minute, he showed Marvelous patience and an ethereal calmness to his instructions. Once you get the feeling of his dance choreography, you start getting the “swag” or the flow of the whole vision which makes learning dance with him a Resplendent experience! Hi there!

My name is Kimberley, and I'm a British singer/songwriter, and I love teaching young people about this amazing industry! I offer songwriting, singing and piano lessons, as well as writing and composition. My first rule is that there isn't any! Each student is unique and different, and my goal is to teach in a way that's fun and interesting and keeps people engaged.

I teach all ages, young and old, novice to experienced, and take great joy in meeting new people and getting to know them and helping them learn.

Coaching can take place at your home or we can sit outside in my apartment by the pool, we can even go to a park and sit in the sunshine! I'm really flexible and want this to work for you at your own pace to help you reach your own goals.

I received one of the highest marks ever in the country for Grade 8 pia
no when I was 14 years old and I haven't looked back! I've performed all over the world as a singer, and have always incorporated my piano as much as I can. I have had a joint number one in the UK, as well as other singles in the charts and have done arena tours throughout the UK and Europe. I have masses of performance experience and a lot of industry contacts as well.

Get in touch and we'll go from there! I'm excited to meet you and chat about what you want to achieve.

About Brandon
Brandon “Bshaw” Shaw

Bshaw has always had a love and passion for dance. As a child growing up in Pasadena, California, he would mimic the styles of pop dance icons like: Michael Jackson and MC Hammer. It wasn’t until he found out that his parents had met and danced on the world renowned television show, “Soul Train”, that his love for dance would turn into a full blown obsession.

It was a dream come true for Bshaw when he got the opportunity to tour the world with R&B sensation, Chris Brown. Bshaw’s most recent accomplishments in dance include: Beyonce', Destiny's Child, Usher, and Chris Brown.

With a ton of success in professional dancing, Bshaw took his vast knowledge in dance into to the world of Choreography.
His most recent accomplishments in choreography for film and television include: Step Up “ ALL IN” , DISNEY CH
ANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE's "Let It Shine" ,"Lemonade Mouth", DISNEY CHANNEL's "So Random", "Shake it up” and "Austin and Alley”. He has also worked as an Associate Choreographer with Chris Scott on FOX's hit television series "So You Think You Can Dance" and the Supervising Choreographer on Chris Brown's "Forever European Tour".

With a passion for dance and always wanting to give back, Bshaw took all his expertise in the world of dance and entertainment and created an training experience for his students called "Hip- Hop basics " which is geared towards the novice dancer looking to learn the basic foundation and “Tourography”. Tourography is where students feel what it is like to dance, rehearse and even perform on stage as if they were on TOUR. It’s high energy, intense, and hard hitting syllabus that has been in high demand and taught in several countries. Bshaw truly loves what he does and it shows in his work ethic and drive.

I was fortunate to have a private lesson in Zouk with Tom while he visited the bay area in February. Although there were specific things I wanted to focus on (patterns and head movement), he quickly diagnosed that my basic lateral and frame needed some work. I was bit like- “whaaaa” in disbelief but also know (in theory) that EVERYTHING goes back to BASICS and fundamentals. He taught me that I can't keep my Bachata frame, and how the frame is different in Zouk. He also diagnosed what I was doing in my basic step that causes lower back pain every time I social danced - and implementing this automatically felt so much better! Now, I have to un-do all my muscle memory and actively try to practice doing it correctly! That’s is the most difficult part- but with practice it will soon become my new muscle memory!

Tom is a wonderful instructor, dancer, and DJ. What I love the most about his dances, is that he is completely present, committed to the dance, and you can feel his energy. He is exactly the same way while DJ-ing. He’s creative and passionate and is the epitome of ZoukLove. Thank you Tom- you are awesome and amazing as always. <3 <3 <3

Love,
Yurika

I had a zouk lesson at my home by Tom. He was quick to point out the fundamental stuff that would make the biggest shift to my entire dance. Also, whenever he said "you're doing THIS" he was really great at imitating my mistakes! I have a long way to go, and in that sense it was challenging and discouraging to face that, but he gave me encouragements and clear instructions on what I could practice to get there.
I would take his lesson again!

I have a lot of experience taking private lessons, and specifically private lessons in other forms of dance. Whenever we do things over and over, we start to realize little nuances that make a big difference when it comes to teaching. To me there are three things that make a phenomenal dance teacher:

One, what you might call their bedside manner, or how they actually treat you, stay calm, their patience level, and their sweetness. I never felt threatened by Tom or or like I was doing something wrong, even if it took me a moment to get a particular move.

Number two of course is their own skill and their ability to translate what they do into words or demonstration so that your body can get it. Tom really has this part down, he such a phenomenal dancer and adds the kind of funk and flavor that I am really a fan of.

Number three, is the experience level of someone who really understands their craft. Someone who sees things with their eyes that no one else can see and who can call you out on them immediately and make changes. They have eagle eyes or in this case Israeli eyes! ;)

I am amazed at what he can see and point out just by watching. Plus he speaks fluent English, and when you were learning a foreign dance this helps immensely.

So I strongly recommend working with him any chance you get, unless it’s on a day that I’m doing a private, and then sorry, you can’t have him! Hah!

I am an avid salsa dancer, singer, and guitarist. I am currently completing my Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Health and Business. I currently work full time as a Vitamins & Body Care Manager at Mother's Market and Kitchen

Salsa dancing students can expect to learn the basics, exercise, and improve from week to week. Every student has a way of expressing themselves, and my goal is to get them to learn the foundations while finding their footing in Latin Dancing; I am a new instructor, so I am looking to teach the basics and fundamentals of Salsa Dancing.

My background in Salsa dancing started in high school in 2011. I quickly picked up the dance as I competed in my first competition my first year learning. After that I've spent 8 years social dancing, and learning to lead on my own. I've taken beginners thro
ugh advanced courses at multiple dance clubs such as Steven's Steak House in Commerce, PCH club in Long Beach, All Atomic Ballroom locations, etc.

Aside from salsa, I've also spent a large portion of my life in music. I've done background singing at a church in LA, and I spent 6 years in the San Francisco Girls Chorus. I'm also a self taught guitarist. So, if you'd like to learn basic music theory, and guitar I can offer those services as well.
