Dr. Cliff believes that, although many professors and teachers do an admirable job in the classroom, many students and children do not learn well in traditional institutions. Many students and children don't respond to the assembly line nature of most institutions. He believes that a student's or child's strengths and natural abilities need to be the foundation of learning. Dr. Cliff often warns against a "cookie cutter" approach to educating students, teenagers and children. You or your child is seen as an individual, and natural strengths are identified and built upon. Therefore, individual one-on-one tutoring or help is the key approach to each student who has any challenges difficulties in a given subject.

In today’s environment and economic challenges, with shorter budgets for the education, larger classes sizes and pressure of performing well in all kind of standard tests, I often see many students lacking true knowledge and skills in a given subject, since they cannot get individualized attention during the class session. That’s where a tutor comes into the picture, not only uncover major “holes” in students’ knowledge set but also teach students how to study, how to learn and through proper guidance “fill” those knowledge and skills holes.

Lifelong Italian speaker who seeks to specialize in getting students to learn quickly, by alternating traditional textbook teaching with the use of web tools, which enable the student to hear spoken Italian and see it spelled out simultaneously.

I encourage students to listen to spoken Italian every day, by taking advantage of the internet and textbooks that use both the printed page and CD-ROM audio.

About Antonio
Outstanding native Italian instructor who uses both traditional textbook teaching and web tools, which help students hear the spoken language (to perfect pronunciation) and see the written language (to perfect spelling, grammar and punctuation).

I already have several students' ratings/reviews. and I've been cleared on two separate background checks, Lexis Nexis and Background website; I will be happy to show both reports to new students.

I'm there to help students work through all aspects of the language, from basic grammar to verb conjugation to vocabulary expansion and word stress (where words are accented).

One more thing: the first lesson with new students is always free.

Cordiali saluti,
Antonio M.

I have taken lessons with Ronald since I was 6, I am now 23. In my 17 years of taking lessons I have learned to play piano, sing and am proficient in music theory. In the more recent years I have even had the opportunity to teach music through Ronald. Throughout the years, I have experienced and witnessed the patience and kindness Ronald consistently shows his students. He encourages his students to become better and shares in their enthusiasm due to their accomplishments. Ronald genuinely cares about his students and is dedicated to making sure his students improve. I fully recommend Ronald for students who have parents who want to be involved in the learning process and especially for young children who are just starting out. Ronald works well with families, includes parents every step of the way and is very patient with young students helping them learn in an open and encouraging environment.

Mr.Chaz is really dedicated to his profession. He started to teach my seven year old son over one year ago and he has motivated him to sing his best and he started piano with him last year which has been a phenomenal experience for my son. Chaz really focuses on the detail, theory and groundwork necessary to excel in music. If you are lucky enough to get your child started with him you will never regret the experience. He is simply the best! My son sings all the time now and loves to play piano. I am so happy for my son to have found someone to expand on his talents!

My teaching experience includes six courses over four years as an assistant professor of Italian Studies University of Bologna, where I was able to establish an easy rapport with both undergraduate and graduate students. My students appreciated my enthusiasm and knowledge of my topic, as well as my ability to lead tutorial discussions in an inclusive manner. I pay particular attention to cultural aspects of the Italian language, with a focus on conversation, pronunciation, and curve of intonation. I often use a technique very popular among acting coaches called "jumps" which improves improvisation and communication skills.

About Roberto
My teaching experience, most of it at University level, includes ten courses over four years as an assistant professor at University of Bologna, where I was able to establish an easy rapport with both undergraduate and graduate students. My students appreciated my enthusiasm and knowledge of Italian language, and culture. I have a strong interest in Italian modern art and literature. Recently, I have been enjoying teaching Italian to adults.
I strongly believe that the most effective way of engaging my students is by giving importance to their lived human experience rather than given. Indeed, Italian is not primarily a language which takes place in the mind, although is essentially a way of being. Let's be a little bit Italian, then!

I feel that learning in general and learning a foreign language in particular is about repetition and I ask my students to repeat everything I teach over and over again until they know it by heart. I keep my lessons simple to avoid overwhelming the students and to allow time for them to repeat what they learned earlier. I teach the words that form part of the so called core vocabulary; words that are chosen according to frequency and range (in the sense that they “occur across a wide variety of texts”) It is often said that the first 2000 most frequent words cover approximately 90% of the vocabulary used by native-speakers in daily conversations. This means that for a student they represent the basic resource to be able to communicate.

About Stefania
I am Italian. I moved to Canada first and the US next in my thirties. I love teaching. I own a retail training and consulting company. I have taught Italian on and off over the years and have always loved doing it. I am very passionate about the topics I teach and have a clear understanding of the complexities of learning and most importantly remembering things that are new to us. Hence, my obsession with repetition and never move to the next lesson until prior ones are fully mastered. I use multiple tricks to make a lesson engaging, different and fun to attend.

Ciao! I hope you are as enthusiastic as me about everything Italian: the country, the art, the food, the music, and of course - the beautiful language. I have taught Italian at all levels, including advanced college courses. Beginners classes concentrate on pronunciation and essential phrases for communication and travel. Intermediate classes build on this but also include lessons on Italian culture and life. Advanced classes would include a survey of Italian literature and its influence on Western culture. Send me an email if you are interested!

About Ghida
I have been a professional educator for over 30 years, having just retired from 16 years public school teaching. I graduated from Edinburgh University, Scotland with a degree in Modern Languages, & from Catholic University of America with a PhD in Comparative Literature.
Teaching is my one great passion - I want to share my love of languages and literature with learners of all ages. I have taught elementary school children, high school students, college students and adults - including Franciscan brothers in a monastery!
My other interests include music, reading, gardening and travel. This year I hope to visit Portugal for the first time, and to also learn how to draw and do watercolors.
I am active in our local community including volunteering and mentoring in various organizations .
