I teach students of all ages on all the brass instruments. With more than 30 years of teaching experience, I tailor my teaching to the individual needs of both students and parents, and I like to make our lessons fun and productive. I cover all the basics of playing, from correct breathing to correct style, and I impart a deep knowledge and appreciation of music to my students as well. I offer flexible scheduling, with sessions varying in length from 30 to 90 minutes, to help fit all budgets.

Betsy has been teaching trumpet lessons for over 20 years and loves the incredible experience of seeing how dedication to playing trumpet can transform anyone. Every year, Betsy's students participate in Regional and All State Bands as well as the Tucson Philharmonia Youth Orchestra. Her students have participated in many summer music programs including Eastern Music Festival, Interlochen Arts Academy, Oberlin, Curry (NAU), and Tucson Brass Workshop. They have won prizes in competitions through the International Trumpet Guild, National Trumpet Competition, and Tucson Symphony Young Artist Competition. Many have gone on to major in trumpet at schools such as Vanderbilt, Arizona State University, Boston University, Yale University, the University of Arizona. I Have been teaching for 10 + years.Part of my daily focus is on relaxed breathing and generating a big beautiful tone for every note played. Long tones are something that I include in my daily regiment. Lots of dexterity exercises,range building, as well as endurance.

Another aspect of my daily regiment is improvisation. focusing on major/minor/ whole tone/diminished scales/ II-Vs in all keys and playing changes!

Lastly RESTING as MUCH as you PRACTICE is very IMPORTANT!

I am a professional classical trumpet player that performs regularly with top European orchestras such as the Paris Opera Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic, the Dutch National Ballet, the Stuttgart Philharmonic as well as several others around Europe.

I'm from Santa Monica, California but have been living in Europe since 2013 to persue my musical career. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with motivated and enthusiastic trumpet students of all ages and experience levels!

As a teacher, a nurturing, encouraging, and comfortable environment can be expected for any student who chooses to pursue trumpet or piano lessons with me. I believe music lessons should be fun and reassuring for students, in addition to, providing constructive feedback for their musical development.
