Eric is a fantastic teacher!!! He clearly enjoys kids, is a great communicator, and is very patient and flexible. My 8 year old son, who is on the autism spectrum, is really enjoying his beginner guitar lessons with Eric, who is terrific with him. I can't recommend him enough!

Ive been working with Eric for over a year now and I can't recommend him enough. Whether you are looking to play guitar recreationally or professionally Eric is the person you want to help hone your skills. As someone who has tried to teach myself and failed I can say that after working with Eric not only do I understand music itself astronomically better but I also am able to produce music on a creative level that would have taken years to achieve without Eric. Lastly, to anyone who is on edge of whether they need a teacher or not, the answer is YES, absolutely and you won't find anyone better than Eric.

About Matt
I have been playing drums for over ten years and counting. From bands to teaching I am involved in music and drums in every possible way. With some college experience in theory, world, and jazz music its helped round me into an all around musician. My passion is creating music and in the last ten years iv drummed on over ten albums and counting, in many different styles. While I've been in a touring act and play a lot of live shows, I still prefer teaching first and gigging second. I can teach you how to read, and write drum music, many exercises for the drum kit and snare drummer, as well as proper technique and I can help you with gear questions. I specialize in being a well rounded drummer, which means I love to study different kinds of rhythm from around the world, although if you have a specific style you would like to work on we can
focus energy on that too.
Taking lessons with me will be a positive and learning experience and I hope I can pass the joy music has given me on to you!

Instant Satisfaction

Matt is doing lessons with my 6-year old son and from the moment they met it was magic. Matt talks to him at a level he can understand, is so patient with him and really allows for him to have fun while learning at the same time. Matt is our third instructor over the past year and he is by far the best. My son is enthused about picking up the drums again and excited when Friday rolls around.

I've been teaching drums for over 6 years and have been playing for over 16! I teach anywhere from drum set to marching percussion. My students have competed in award winning programs. I currently teach at a top ranked high school for music and performing arts! During the lessons, students will learn the proper technique on various forms of drumming and also learn how to read music and compose musical pieces.

About Pranshul
My name is Pranshul and I am a current college student. My major is Cognitive Sciences B.S. I have been actively involved in music activities in and out of school and have been playing music for over 14 years. I received honors throughout middle and high school and in college. My lessons consist of educating students through doing. I start with the basics and make sure students have a deep understanding of the subject before we move onto advanced topics. This way, the student gets the most out of the lesson and leaves satisfied with their progress!

Snare drum and drum kit.

About Darrell
Why these lessons are different:
- Formally trained conductor/composer/producer
- Individual or group session options including full band production
- A long roster of satisfied clients
- Broad base of musical styles (rock, classical, jazz, blues, metal, bluegrass, folk, theater, big band, symphonic, pop, punk, country, march, gospel, avant-garde...)
- Over 20 yrs teaching experience and work with recognized professionals including work in some of the top-rated private schools in the United States
- Over 30 years performing experience

Instrument-specific instruction:
- Voice
- Guitar [Spanish, acoustic, electric]
- Electric Bass
- Piano/Keyboard
- Woodwinds [specializing in saxophones]
- Percussion
- Brass & Bowed Strings [performance preparation only]

My process is based on (but does not adhere strictly to
) the Classical approach to Western tonal harmony and asks that the students develop certain fundamentals of technique and theory. In my experience, this structure creates the strongest foundation for pupils to build the rest of their musical lives on, whether professionally or solely for personal enjoyment. All of my students are on the fast track to studying music theory. Whatever level they are at when I start with them, I guide their efforts into bringing the students up to a certain level of comprehension regarding the mathematical aspects of music and how it relates to their instruments. This understanding of theoretical principles of sound allows the students to play any style of music they wish, no matter how their tastes may change throughout their lives.

Curriculum Gradation:
Elements of rhythm
Elements of pitch
Elements of dynamics
Elements of articulation
Reading/Writing notation
Tone development
Finding/Expanding your range
Dexterity, speed, and accuracy
How to project
How to advance to the next level
Music theory
Playing by ear
Improvisational techniques

I've taken private drum and piano lessons myself, which has given me a great understanding of all musical areas with a strong focus on rhythm. I've played a lot of different kinds of gigs in a lot of different locations and settings, including Spain and New York. I've been teaching since 2012. When I teach, I try to tailor my lessons to each individual student. If the student is willing to work hard to improve, I'm willing to work just as hard to keep the student improving.

Students will learn their favorite songs with music and by ear. Studio days are available to record the students performing the songs when ready and you get to keep the recordings to showcase your improvement!

Advanced students also welcome. I have challenges for everyone.

We can meet and talk in person before starting lessons to make sure it's a good fit. If you have any questions, feel free to ask :)

About Alex
MUSIC: My first private lessons were on piano at 8 years of age with piano lessons, I learned about he basic fundamentals of music (scales, melodies, harmonies, rhythm, time and key signatures, accidentals, etc.). After discovering that rhythms were the most interesting to me, I decided to start drum lessons and fell in love with it. After taking private lessons and mastering my craft, new doors were opened: wedding gigs, an amazing high school band experience, and even performances in Spain and New York. I started teaching in 2012 and developed the comfort to share what I've learned over the years. If the student is willing to work hard, I can provide the knowledge and wisdom to help the student improve. TUTORING: I've always been strong in math- and science-type classes. I'm a Mechanical Engineering major at CSUS. I've received high gra
des in all of my math classes, and I have experience working with people of all ages.

Jimmie arrived on-time and ready to start. He dove right into getting to know my son and started teaching him on bells and learning rhythm since that`s what my son will be expected to know for his first year of band in the fall.
He was very good at connecting with my son and easily had him enjoying the lesson.
You can tell Jimmie has a passion for teaching children and his face lit up talking about it. He heaped praise on my sons accomplishments and my son said he truly enjoyed the lesson and can`t wait for next week.
I`d highly recommend him to teach your child. I don`t think you`d find someone else with the same passion for children. So glad I made the decision to hire Jimmie and look forward to many years of him being involved in developing my son into a awesome musician.
Thank you Jimmie!

The drums are the backbone of most music, so you have to be able to feel the groove and stay tight and on top of the beat. I encourage students to pick their favorite songs, and we drum to those while learning proper technique, rudiments, song form, fills, rhythm, different grooves / beats, and anything they want to know about the drums. I have been playing the drums for over sixteen years and have a Bachelor's Degree in Music from the Berklee College of Music. Drums is a beautiful art and form of expression and is just the tip of the iceberg we can tackle called Music.

About Eric
MUSIC!
I think music is the most beautiful thing in the world, so lets take time to learn and play music together.
I have been playing the drums for over sixteen years, and been in over fifteen bands in the course of that time. I have a degree in Music from the Berklee College of Music were I studied music theory and focused on Music Production and Engineering. I have been playing Piano, Bass, and Guitar for about ten years in addition to the drums, and have been recorded in sessions on each. I have a deep passion for synthesizers and electronic music, so lets make some bleeps and bloops together.

I am extremely kind, friendly, and funny so lessons with me are very relaxed and have an easy to learn environment. However I am very passionate about teaching to fit student needs; so if a student likes deadlines and homework, if that is w
hat will help them learn the best, then that is how I will teach.
Lets make some sweet music together!!
