Erin is one of the kindest and most engaging musicians I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know. She has a natural way with children which puts them at ease. She's thoughtful and completely professional. Her years of experience playing and her demeanor make her the perfect French Horn teacher. My son had the passion to learn to play and she tapped into his enthusiasm and matched it with her energy and appreciation of a student who is eager to learn! I can't say enough about Erin accept that she is uniquely talented and the perfect music teacher.

My son enjoys his music lessons with Jonathan, who is infinitely patient teaching what can be a challenging instrument. My son responds well to Jonathan's instruction, and he appreciates having access to a professional performer as a teacher. Jonathan encourages my son to learn a variety of music, including both challenging classical pieces and more recognizable popular and jazz pieces, which helps to sustain his interest in the lessons.

I have been playing horn for 20 years and graduated with my Masters from CalArts where I studied horn with Robin Graham and Daniel Grabois in New York before that. I am equally at home in jazz/rock/pop in addition to Classical playing. Before moving to LA four years ago I toured the east coast playing with NYC band Horse's Mouth and was the Principle Hornist in the Sage City Symphony in Vermont.

Depending on each student's goals/needs, we will focus on Classical horn technique, jazz/pop/rock horn, improvisation, orchestra/chamber/solo repertoire, and/or electronic processing on the horn.

Books used: Standard of Excellence (beginner), Essential Elements (beginner), Yamaha (beginner), Kopprasch (intermediate/advanced), Maxime-Alphonse (advanced), Verne Reynolds (advanced)

About John
I've been playing music for over twenty years as a brass player, pianist, guitarist, composer, and electronic musician. I've studied and performed across the country—starting in Seattle, then New York and the northeast, and finally here in Los Angeles.

As a performer, I have trained and play extensively on the French horn, piano, and guitar. I perform in a variety of styles—from classical to jazz, pop/rock styles, and modern and experimental music.

As a composer and sound designer, I work in a variety of settings, from composing for orchestra, string quartet, percussion, and groups of all shapes and sizes, to designing sound for theater and film.

I earned my Bachelor's degree at Bennington College in Vermont and my Master's degree at CalArts. I play all around LA as a freelance orchestral musician, in my brass quartet, a studio h
ornist (recorded on will.i.am's last album, The Grasshopper Lies Heavy, and with Horse's Mouth, to name a few), and in various other groups. I have taught at Bennington College, Summer Sonatina Piano School, Sage City Symphony's Young Composers Project, CalArts, Barnsdall Park's Junior Art Center, and Santa Monica Music Center. I have been teaching privately since high school and love working with students to meet their individual goals in music.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide my own instrument for demonstration and group playing when applicable. I provide sheet music and method books for use in lessons or temporary loan. I expect students to have their own instrument and music stand for use during lessons. If using electric guitar, they should have their own amplifier. In theory or songwriting lessons, they should have their own staff paper. I ask students to purchase their own method books and music when needed.

I studied with Dale Clevenger at Indiana University for my Masters degree and bring the philosophy of musical goals first and foremost. The most important part of playing horn is sound and I will work with you to get the best sound possible.

About Olivier
My name is Olivier Huebscher. I am a Doctoral Candidate in Horn Performance at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.
I was born in Switzerland in 1989, and have performed in wide variety of cultures and venues, from television soundtrack recording in Thailand, to full opera productions. I am equally comfortable performing in studio recordings, opera pits or symphonic stages.
I am a dedicated chamber musician, performing with Volante Winds at the prestigious Fischoff Chamber Music Competition as well as recording Mahler’s Symphony No 9 with the Kammermahler ensemble. I was also a member of Santa Monica Symphony, American Youth Symphony, Columbus Philharmonic and Redlands Symphony as well as being a finalist for Macau Symphony and semi-finalist for New World Symphony. I have also performed in sections with Dale Clevenger, Jef
f Nelsen and Elizabeth Freimuth. My teaching style relies on simplifying breathing and focusing on achieving the best possible musical results. I take into account each student's goals and desires and tailor lessons to get the end result they want. I have worked with many beginning students as well so whether your goal is an upcoming school or ensemble audition or just trying to sound as beautiful as possible I will help you achieve your goals.
I also have a minor in music theory as well as years of theory tutor experience ranging from teaching how to read music notation to Schenkerian analysis.

I have been teaching all ages and levels of French horn for 10 years. I believe in teaching outside the book, to give each one of my students an individualized plan to reach their goals. I will always go above and beyond to steer you in the right direction, and to make your music experience last a lifetime.

Students can expect to be appropriately challenged with repertoire, in a supportive, communicative environment. I am happy to work on school repertoire, pop tunes or music from the standard repertoire. I believe in efficiency and getting the most out of your practice time. We all lead busy lives, I will teach you how to accomplish your goals with the time you want to invest.

Unfortunately I do not teach beginners online, only in person. It is impossible to develop the appropriate sound and skills without being there in person. I can help you find someone in your area, please feel free to reach out!

About Jessica
Thanks for checking out my teaching profile! I currently live in New York City (Queens) where I freelance and teach a variety of students. As the school year is about to begin, I have availability during the week and on Saturdays. I suggest booking sooner rather than later! Please feel free to send me a personal message if you have any questions.

I have experience teaching beginners, both young and adult! I include music theory and history into each lesson but am also available for tutoring. I have taught masterclasses at high schools and universities, and am currently working on my own pedagogical resource for brass teachers.

Always loved the sound of the horn? Looking to further your abilities and build up your chops? Learn at your pace in your learning style with student-tailored lessons that help you build a solid technique on the instrument while explaining the "hows" and "why" of music with integrated theory. Wanting to learn more? Don't be shy - send me a message!

I've taught all levels and all ages over many many time zones - I understand online learning can be a leap for some, but every student has expressed how amazing it is that they can learn at the time they want, in their own home, with the teacher they chose hundreds or thousands of miles away!

About Breanna
--- To-The-Point Bio ---

With 15+ years of experience, I am a learner-centered educator and Artist-Teacher-Scholar with a genuine interest in student engagement and cognitive growth. In our lessons, I strive to create motivating and rewarding learning environments through effective communication and a keen sense of student needs. Teachers are only as great as their students, which is why I encourage self-driven learning through example.

Below is a lengthy bio of my life as professional hornist (I'm currently principal horn of the State Opera in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria) with a little overview of my professional life. To briefly summarize the full extent of my musical experiences: over the years, I've been lucky enough to come across almost any performance job you could throw at someone - I was a keyboard player in an experimental i
mprovisatory funk band, have been a faculty accompanist at a university and a Suzuki class accompanist, have been a collaborative pianist for all sizes of chamber ensembles (vocal and instrumental), have performed in Jordan Hall on accordion giving a world premiere of a local Boston composer's work, busked the streets of my college town and played weddings on accordion, taught fifth grade, junior high, and high school band and choir at a public school, and helped create an educational outreach ensemble, to name some of the most memorable. Music is a very personal journey, I've come to realize, which is why lessons are always student-centered and planned according to your needs.

--- Lengthy Bio ---

Breanna Ellison, lauded for performances "flawless in execution and vivid in characterization" (Boston Musical Intelligencer), is a dynamic and highly sought-after horn player throughout the Midwest and East Coast. Breanna has played with numerous groups throughout the US, including Boston's conductorless chamber orchestra A Far Cry, the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra, the Ad Astra Festival Orchestral, Michael Tilson Thomas's New World Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, Radius Ensemble, the Topeka Symphony Orchestra, and currently plays in the Hays Symphony Orchestra, among others. Recently, she served as principal horn with the Geneva Light Opera in their production of Così Fan Tutte, acted as section coach and chaperone in the Boston Youth Philharmonic Orchestra for the 2015 European Tour, and this summer served on faculty at the High Plains Music Camp as a collaborative pianist and hornist.

Equally at home in symphonic, opera, and chamber music worlds alike, Breanna has performed in music festivals across Europe and the United States. In 2011, she served as principal horn at the Eutiner Opernfestspiele in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. She attended the Colorado College Music Festival in summer 2012, and later that summer attended the Ameropa Chamber Music Festival in Prague, Czech Republic. While in Prague, Breanna performed with an international chamber group that took second place in Ameropa's International Concertante Competition. The quartet performed Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante K295b in the Czech Philharmonic's Rudolfinum, Dvořák Hall with Camerata Filarmonica Bohemia. In the summer of 2015, by invitation, Breanna studied with world-renowned hornist and pedagogue Frøydis Ree Wekre in Oslo, Norway.

Holding performance degrees in both horn and piano from the University of Kansas, Breanna attended the Cortona Sessions for New Music in Cortona, Italy as a pianist in 2010. There, she met kindred spirits amongst the composers attending and later that year, invited them to Kansas to hear their commissions performed by her brass quintet, the Lawrence 5. The concert served as both premieres of their works and as a benefit concert to aid in the building of schools for girls in Pakistan and Afghanistan through the Central Asia Institute. While at the University of Kansas, Breanna was a recipient of the Zakoura Collaborative Pianist Scholarship. Much of her pianistic time was spent collaborating with instrumentalists and vocalists from all realms, often in premieres of new works by colleagues in composition. Regarding hornistic studies while studying at KU, she was assistant then fourth horn of the Topeka Symphony Orchestra, the first job she won at age 20.

Breanna graduated with honors from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA under full Presidential and Merit scholarship with her master's degree in horn performance, studying with James Sommerville, principal horn of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. During her time there, she also earned her Music-In-Education Concentration under the guidance of movement-founder Larry Scripp. She received her undergraduate degrees from the University of Kansas School of Music in horn performance, studying with Paul Stevens, and piano performance, studying with Jack Winerock. Breanna is currently Interim Professor of Horn at Fort Hays State University and continues to be a collaborative pianist at the University and throughout the state of Kansas. When not pursuing musical endeavors, she enjoys creating raw desserts, planning her worldwide backpacking trip, and learning mad, Balkan rips to busk with on accordion.

Want to learn how to play the Horn? I have been giving lessons to kids in Baltimore for years through the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's OrchKids program and now hope to expand. My goals as a teacher are to make a safe teaching environment with an emphasis on support and to further your own goals. All ages are welcome! Lessons will be catered to each student and you or your child will build a strong foundation that can be applied to all things in life! Send me a message and let's get started.

About Xin
I am a professional Horn player. I am currently a student at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester getting my Bachelor's of Music under Professor Peter Kurau.

Horn players can expect to have a unique sound, and I intend to let the student harness that rather than stick to whatever standard of sound is preferred in our community. From my experience, horn players tend to build tension in the jaw, and as a person with TMJ (Temporomandibular joint dysfunction), I know how to recognize these pains and how to release tension and prevent it!

I have been studying classical horn playing for 7 years and have had experiences in various orchestras such as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the Ocala Symphony Orchestra. I am also a part of the National Orchestral Institute + Festival of the University of Maryland, College Park in 2018, a n
ationally-acclaimed summer festival. In addition, I studied the Natural Horn for 2 years, the predecessor to the modern French Horn. Despite having a classical background, I frequently have to play jazz when playing modern compositions and learned how to read lead sheets, so therefore I can bring a multi-faceted way of teaching every day.

I have experience teaching young kids in Baltimore through the OrchKids Summer Program. I was a Brass Intern and taught the horn players and at times the trumpet players. From this experience, I developed patience and an even stronger love for teaching to play the instrument to which I am dedicating my life. I hope that you will consider me in your pursuit of finding a horn teacher for yourself or for your child.

I am an avid brass performer and teacher in the greater Baltimore area, having played for over a decade. In lessons, we will work out of some of the most trusted method books, discuss fundamental playing techniques in an accessible and easy-to-understand way, and search for unique solutions to individual problems as I tailor my teaching method to your learning style. All ages are welcome.

About Zachary
Hello! My name is Zachary (or Zac for short) and I am a Baltimore-based brass performer and teacher. I have been playing euphonium and other brass instruments for 14 years. Currently, I am in my final year as a music education student at Towson University, where I study euphonium with US Navy musician James Hicks. In addition to euphonium, I am quite proficient on both trombone and tuba, and have taught trumpet and horn as well.

Currently, I play euphonium in the Towson University Symphonic Band and Towson University Tuba Euphonium Ensemble, trombone in a folk-rock style band, and am an avid solo artist. I also have two years of experience as a nationally touring member of the Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps. In addition to these experiences, I have performed with the Cadets2 Drum & Bugle Corps, the Baltimore Ravens Marching Band, and th

Zac taught me how to properly perform an aria in front of a whole lot of important people that I was stressed about. He gave me some excellent pointers on how to work with a pianist. His knowledge of music and his experience in performance has certainly shaped the way I perceive my own performances ever since that lesson.

As a musician, Zac is above and beyond talented. Because of his proficiency and excellence, he offers great insight and helpful hints on how to play properly and with support, two extremely important parts of being a musician. Lastly, it is quite obvious what music means to him. His passion is inspiring, and makes me want to continue to pursue and practice my instrument. His lessons helped me develop from a second part to a first part, enabling me to play higher and more challenging parts for my band. Knowing that I was able to leave better than I started makes myself feel lucky and appreciative that I was able to take lessons with a person like Zac. Overall, one of the best music instructors I have had the pleasure of working with.
