If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, it's time to explore this new opportunity! As a teacher, I lead my lessons with a gentle approach, whether you are a beginner or advanced musician. I am a recent graduate of Azusa Pacific University and earned my Bachelor's in Music: Vocal Performance. With a fresh mind & pursuing my Master's degree, I can teach with confidence. It will always be at your own pace and at your own time. I'm always listening to those I teach in the most positive of lights, but still maintaining a discerning eye over the music you will create. Hiring me as a teacher, I will be working to the best of my ability to display and exemplify what I believe it means to be a good musician. I'm passionate about what I do, and I want to show you exactly why.

About Vanessa

Singing has always been my passion. The human voice is so complex that I was entranced with it at a very young age. Due to my exposure to Disney movies and Disney Channel, I began singing at 5 years old and would be involved in my school's talent shows! Once middle school began, I joined the chorus

Vanessa was my daughter’s first singing coach ever (age 9) so she was naturally shy at first, but Vanessa made her feel comfortable, confident and was very patient with her. Very happy with the time my daughter had with her coach! She is now more confident and knows more about music and her own voice!

“Great singer and teacher! She was so much fun :)”

I always wanted to learn to sing, but I'm pretty shy when singing in front of people. However, I've been gaining more confidence with Vanessa's singing lessons! She has been teaching me different methods and practices I can use to improve my pitch. I already hear a significant difference in my voice. She's also very encouraging when teaching. Even though we can't meet in person, I can feel her enthusiasm through the screen. I highly recommend taking lessons from Vanessa if you're looking for fun singing lessons!

I am a firm believer that there isn't a single singing method out
there that really works for everyone. But rather it is about observation
of yourself without judgement and TRULY understanding how vocal
production works in your body in relation to your breath, your mind, and your soul. I am not here to dictate how you should sing in a certain way. I am here to help you and guide you in understanding your body in relation to sound production and to cultivate your own method of vocal technique in your own words and in your own logic that actually works for you.

About Cris

This was my first experience with voice lessons, and Cris the best teacher I could have hoped for! He has introduced me to all sorts of music techniques that I’m sure I will need when I leave to study music in college, and he helped me to prepare any vocal requirements I might have to fill. He is always patient, knowledgeable, and easy to get along with; and he has inspired me to continue studying opera in the future. I would highly recommend him for any level of vocalist! :)

I teach operatic Bel Canto singing to beginners, intermediate, advanced, and touring professionals.
During your first lesson I do a computer analysis of your voice, I find out what your goals are in singing, what your favorite kinds of music are, and I take you in the direction you want to go and show you how to get there in the shortest possible time.

I always record my students so that they know how they sound to others. I also make a CD of them singing to background music if they wish, included in the cost of the lessons for no extra charge.

Learn to sing beautifully, and most important, emotionally.
Learn the parts of your vocal instrument, How each works, How they work together. Develop Breath support (80% of singing).
Learn how to do the Singer's Formant, "Squillo" (that "ringing" sound of professionals).

Learn how to conquer nervousness, learn Resonance, Overtones, Vibrato, How to sing high notes, Learn the "singing vowels", and more.

I would rather teach ...

I love working with Aria! She is an excellent teacher. She worked with me on classical repertoire in Italian, German, French and English. Sbe helped me prepare for performances, scholarship competitions, program auditions, and my college auditions. She is knowledgable, patient, understanding and always willing to find time to help. She's great!

Dr Thome is an excellent teacher. She not only loves music, but understands it. She is quite talented at sharing that knowledge with her students, helping them to grow musically. She is great with scheduling--accommodating extra lessons as necessary and able. Her work with my daughter is stellar. Aria helped her prepare for multiple auditions, performances and her conservatory auditions. I highly recommend her.
Angela
Aria is a joy, a light, and an overall wonderful human being. She is knowledgeable and makes singing a wonderful experience. She helped me prepare for my St. Louis Muny audition and I could tell that my technique and overall confidence improved. I was very pleased with my audition (that’s big for someone who is very self-critical). I also had the pleasure of learning various choral arrangements and catholic hymns and performed them with Aria as my accompanist for weddings. It was a wonderful experience.

"I can't sing." That's something I hear from a lot of people when they find out that I'm a singer. My response: EVERYONE can sing. That's why I teach singing with three easy basic concepts: Breathe, Imagine, and Trust. Breath is the foundation of singing on which all other elements of healthy technique are based (vowel, enunciation, phrasing, etc.). Imagine is all about learning what's possible with your instrument, and Trust is what allows your body to make your Imagination a Reality. Whether you want to sing in your living room or in front of thousands of people, I'll work with you to make sure you have the technique and the confidence to do so.

Although it may feel like baby-steps, you can hear and feel changes in your voice almost immediately . Studying Opera Voice is a long road of very hard work, so much to remember. "I've never had a voice teacher before! Aria is definitely 11 stars though! She has put me into a category I never knew I could sing: Opera Soprano?!? I'm having a blast exploring music in a new way, and it's really helping me "find my voice", which was ultimately my goal. She said that exploring and refining this aspect of my voice will help in all of my vocal endeavors. I'm also enjoying learning to read music!"

"To say that my opera lessons with Margo have been miraculous would be an understatement. My family and friends had repeatedly encouraged me to pursue my singing and I wrote it off as hyperbole. When I finally decided to take it seriously I was afraid I was too old to start pursuing a career in the arts. Margo explained to me that some performers can be in their 30s or 40s before reaching full vocal maturity. She immediately took me under her wing which has resulted in near perfect pitch. Under her tutelage I have learned to evoke emotion from my audience thru both song and dramatization. Needless to say, her being multi-lingual has no doubt made her uniquely qualified to do so. If you want a disciplined, dedicated, no nonsense instructor, call her. You won't be disappointed."

"Dani is a really special instructor for me! She helped me realize how big my passion for singing was because, since the beginning, she has inspired me with her singing, passion, and knowledge. She was my teacher for 4 years and she prepared me to get into CU Boulder’s School of Music. With her guidance I improved not only my vocal technique, but my musicality, acting skills, languages, and every single aspect that a singer needs to be a professional artist. She was really specific and patient about my growth as an opera singer and she always helped me find the perfect repertoire for me. I can say that I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for her. Dani saw the best in me even when I didn’t, and I am still learning a lot from her."

8 Beautiful Opera Arias for Beginner Singers

It is always exciting when a vocal student is ready to start studying his or her first operatic aria! One of the best things about being a classical singer is knowing you have so many great years ahead of you. After all, you’re considered in your prime in your 40s. That being said, realize that the voice you have now and the repertoire you’ll first study will be very, very different from what you sing later on in your career. It’s absolutely crucial that you sing repertoire that is …
