Saxophone is my primary instrument and the one I am the most excited about. I've been teaching saxophone for a year and my students have gone on to perform in area-all-state competitions and concerts in the NY area. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play a few folk songs and as time goes on you'll be able to read treble clef. I specialize in classical, typically use Tune-A-Day or Jump Right In books, and have the following tools available for your lessons: metronome, and laptop. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

I have been playing the saxophone since 1998. My teaching experience in itself equals to some 10 years.
Through this time period, I have been working with Beginner to Advanced-level students of any ages. We have been practicing in my professional studio, at my trainees’ premises or via Skype.
To any student of mine I offer a tried-and-true combination of techniques that have eventually made up my state-of-the-art teaching methodic.
It contains, but is not limited to, the following:
- developing beginner musicians’ skill;
- establish the basis of musical theory including learning musical notation and reading scores;
- gaining extensive practice through performing popular classic to hit tunes;
- giving rise to intermediate-level saxophonists’;
- getting to know how to play in ensemble;
- learning how to improvise in a variety of genres.
- polishing advanced sax players’ mastery.
And, no doubt, helping prepare for an upcoming concert or competition is an option, too,

I've been playing saxophone for 28 years, and professionally for over 20. My journey has taken me from beginner in school band to one of the largest music schools at the university level. I've played in a multitude of professional settings including clubs, festivals, tours, and recording studios. I'm classically trained but specialize in improvisational music, jazz, latin, and funk. Over the years I have been fortunate to play with and learn from some true masters. I can teach you the techniques necessary to perform at the highest levels and have fun doing it. Whether you want improve you sound, learn to sight read, learn songs, or play over chord changes at a jam session I'm confident I can help.
About James

Thanks for visiting my page!
I've been playing the saxophone, among other instruments professionally for a number of years in New Orleans and Nashville. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz Studies from Louisiana State University, where I also studied classical music and theory extensively.
I can help beginners to build a solid foundation on the saxophone. For more advanced players, the lessons will be tailored to your specific interest and experience level.
I look forward to working with you!

I have been taking music lessons with Daniel since April of 2013 and it has been a great learning experience.
I had no musical background and I started learning Saxophone with Daniel and 7 months later, I am able to play popular songs that he chooses to fit best for enhancing learning curve. He does a great job with reinforcing correct habits from the very beginning and has been very encouraging and has highlighted improvement as we go from class to class. As music learning can be frustratingly slow, the feedback and reassurance he provides definitely helps in keep going back for more.
I wanted to learn guitar and piano with him as well, he encouraged to learn only Piano (for enhancing learning curve for musical theory concepts) and hold guitar for later. Which speaks about how he is genuinely concerned about your learning of music with sound reasoning. So now I take guitar and Piano lessons with him. He is very patient, polite and professional. He is great with students of all ages and easily modifies teaching style as per student needs.
Besides all that he is a great person to talk to. Numerous times we have had great discussions about things outside music.
I would highly recommend Daniel for music lessons to everyone."

The people we've talked with to set this up were also helpful and courteous."

Maureen is a fantastic teacher."

Learning how to play saxophone starts with the right equipment--namely, a quality neck strap! Read on for some helpful advice from Brookings, SD teacher Carl S... The saxophone is a unique instrument for many reasons. One example is that the saxophone is the only band instrument that uses a neck strap. Unfortunately, the neck strap is often the most overlooked aspect of playing the instrument. One of the first things that I stress to a new student is the importance of the neck str …
