Dipankar teaches in a way that makes you think about different positions and different strategies as if they were occurring in a game. He doesn't just give you the solution, he makes you talk him through your logic, and then points out any flaws / improvements that there may be. Ultimately, in a dynamic way, he has been able to improve my game.
I came to realize that the main reasons I was losing games was either an early tactical mistake, or a blunder mid game. Dipankar showed me how to think through each move, and some common problems to avoid.
I look forward to continuing lessons with Dipankar, and continuing to grow my game / rating.

My students and I have at least one meeting per week with the goal of preparing them for rated competitions. During this meeting, I will go over tactical themes with the student, challenge him/her with puzzles, go over and discuss Grandmaster games and opening variations, or play training games.
I will also chat with the student and find out what she been doing, what she has been working on, and ask her what problems she has encountered during her training.

As far as chess goes, anyone can learn how to move a piece, control the board, or utilize move patterns. The thing that separates the average from the adept is the understanding of the multiple levels of "playing". Starting with your mind set, moving on to the game board, and ultimately defeating the opponent sitting across from you...
Defeating your opponent is literally the goal of chess. So, it is important to remember to have fun while being competitive.
I am a Chess Player, and have been since elementary school where I joined the chess club and became addicted to the game. That's when found out my younger brother was cheating when he taught me how to play a few weeks before. Needless to say he cant win against me anymore...OK fine, he gets lucky sometimes...at the end of the day we supported each other and our friends at a bunch of chess tournaments!
Now, at this point in my life, it is time to share some chess knowledge and support someone who is looking for that ...

Back around 2014, I decided I was going to improve at chess. I watched a few videos online about some openings, played a few dozen blitz games online, and then promptly lost interest within a week. Four years later, I decided to pick it up again and in less than a year, I had gone from 1100 to 1900 Elo rating online. Obviously, I changed how I went about my improvement! So here are the steps that I took the second time around that got me to where I am now, and some ways you can improve your ches …
