I had a college language placement exam looming, so I signed up for 10 lessons with Susan to help me review and prep for the exam. I ended up testing out of two semesters of college-level German, which was even better than I had hoped for! I couldn't have done it without Susan. She was fantastic at explaining the tricky subjects, like accusative vs. dative cases, and helped me rigorously review all of the material. Plus, learning with her was fun, and I looked forward to the lesson every week.

Learning to read can be challenging in English. Our language, while beautiful, has as many unique characteristics as do our people! Since I have a secondary English minor, I've had long experience in reading, teaching and interacting with many levels of students.

Difficulty in reading can often be simply a translation problem. When that glitch is narrowed in on, and taken apart, the magic of words opens up!

I took lessons with Rahny last year. She helped me to refine my essay writing skills. I had never written an essay before. I’d never had a portfolio before either, but it has come in handy in more ways than I ever could’ve imagined. I’ve referenced the materials on vocabulary, pronunciation and essay writing exercises a dozen times. She still takes the time to answer some of my questions.
Matthew
Thanks for all your patience even though I was running late. I was all ready to cancel my lesson, but you encouraged me to keep my goals in mind and keep moving forward. I loved that you adjusted the material accordingly and worked through the homework together with me. I look forward to our next session. :)
Natasha
Rahny is very interesting in her approach. It is great how she goes about sharing ideas, extending the discussion and engaging with me and the content. She brings so much liveliness to the class. The texts are very good, practical and related directly to my goals of wanting better communication with my colleagues.

My experience with this tutor was great! Despite my schedule mishap the other day, he was considerate enough to reschedule. will see you next week with math.

Had so much problem with my basics. Akib has been patient and helped me clear things out. thanks a bunch!
Caleb L.
This tutor does not fill the total time paid for. If the student has no more questions, rather than structuring the lesson like other tutors he will simply finish early! I am sure he is very knowledgable, but his accent is very strong, making learning a newer subject harder through trying to understand new words with a strong accent.
A fan was constantly ticking in the background, and he admitted his internet connection was poor.

Biology used to make no sense to me at all. I struggled because I never understood how biology related to me. All I wanted to know was "what's on my next pizza?" (Yes, that was my actual interest, haha) I communicate what I needed when I was learning it. I help people with science all the time so when it comes to helping another person I have what it takes to really make sense of this difficult material to you, but most importantly, in a way that makes sense to you. I got you!

About Aaron

Do you want a future doctor to be teaching you cell biology? I would. I'm going to go to medical school to become a cardiologist, as soon as I'm done with some requirements. Pick me and we'll get you makin' A's in no time! I will help you actually understand the material, not memorize!

"Our first experience with Christina was pleasant. She took her time to get to know my daughter and I appreciate her involving me in the session. She gave me suggestions to help my daughter with reading which I never thought of. I feel that she will help my daughter improve with not only her reading but also her confidence. "I did 2 sessions with Matt while I was home in preparation for my GMAT, which is in 3 weeks. We focused on the quantitative section, which was the weak spot on my first test. Matt’s familiarity with the GMAT (both the Verbal and Math section) was evident in the first few minutes of sitting down with him. Probably even more important, given my time constraint, was Matt’s ability to quickly identify my specific problem areas (integer / geometric properties & time management on data sufficiency problems) and come up with a game plan to improve them. Matt’s teaching style helped solidify key concepts by having me walk him through my thinking on problems and correcting me only when I veered off path. This approach worked for me. After the second session, I took a practice test and my math score improved substantially. I would recommend Matt to anyone who’s serious about boosting their GMAT score."

"Matt has been awesome for my student. His math skills have improved greatly, and his writing has come from illegible to what can now be described as neat and readable. Matt has been very patient and deliberate with our son and has taken the time to really explain things to Jake in a way he can understand. We would recommend this tutor to any parent looking for a tutor for their grammar school student! Matt is also reliable and prompt and showed up when expected which was helpful with our very busy schedules."
