I teach flute/piccolo primarily through the tried and true Rubank method. Students will learn how to properly care for the instrument, how to read music, music theory, instrument technique, practice techniques, ear training (how to play by ear), and repertoire. I also employ custom exercises specifically for flute/piccolo to help my students progress the fastest.

About Kyle

Hello potential students! I have a B.A. in instrumental music education and composition. I have taught private lessons for over 12 years. Teaching private music lessons is my primary job, so I have much experience and wisdom compared to teachers who teach "on the side." Students of all ages stay wi

Kyle is a great piano teacher! He is very patient with my 12-year old son. Just yesterday he referred to him as “fun Kyle” because he teaches him small songs on the side that he can show friends and family or are for upcoming holidays. He’s always punctual and respectful of our family and home. I’m grateful to have found him!

I am a passionate musician and educator. I have worked for many years as a private flute instructor on both the modern and baroque flute, gaining experience teaching many age and skill levels. Lessons are tailored to the individual needs and goals of the student, with an emphasis on developing tone, technique, and breathing skills. Students will also be encouraged to think about the music that they play. As a musician, I developed an interest in the field of Historical Performance over the course of my undergraduate degree. In this field, one not only studies the music of past periods, but studies its relevance to the social, political, and cultural circumstances of its time. I believe this puts me in a unique position as a music educator, as I understand the importance of teaching students to connect musical works to their historical contexts. This is a skill that will provide them with a richer understanding of all types of music, including both classical and popular, and give them ...

I sing in a more classic pop/rock style, but I also have a background in opera/musical theater and have been the vocalist of a death metal band for almost a decade. Pretty much anything you want to learn or try, we can figure out a way for you to get there without damaging your voice. I believe in strengthening the voice as a muscle so that it can come through for us consistently and beautifully. Learning how to execute vocal runs strictly by ear without paying attention to proper or safe technique is not my approach. I love tailoring warmups for each of my students so that they can work on problem areas and get to the maximum potential of their range each lesson. I'm interested in YOUR unique voice, but I can also help you emulate singers you admire by teaching you how they attain their sound.

About Rae

Hi! My name is Rae and I've been teaching professionally since moving to Chicago in 2012. I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Professional Music, focusing on Music Education and Performance. For the last two years, I've been teaching drums, piano, and voice at School of Rock

"Andrew is a great teacher. He is a very nice guy who puts you at ease from the beginning. His love and appreciation of music is infectious. After each lesson with Andrew I feel excited about becoming a musician. He explains things in a way that makes sense to a beginner and it’s obvious that he wants to help his students become good musicians. I’m glad that I found a guitar teacher like Andrew. I look forward, with Andrew’s help, to making my life-long dream of being a guitar player finally come true."

"I am an adult beginner on cello, but I play a number of other instruments reasonably well. Lenna is attentive to my specific needs and adapts what we work on to focus on technique such that I don't feel, as I have with some other teachers at times, that I am dragging my feet a little bit. She is very patient and kind while also providing me with the constructive input I need. I would highly recommend her for adults, and I can see her working very well with children as well given her kind and patient manner."

Shaun is the real deal. He has the skills to teach everyone form the beginning guitar player to a seasoned professional looking to advance their skills. He is a patient person that takes the time to make sure you understand what he is teaching and more importantly he can explain why something has to be done a certain way. Shaun takes some the most complicated aspects of the guitar from rhythm to scales and makes it easy to understand and apply in the real world."

I have been a teacher for 15 years. I know a good teacher when I meet one. Michelle is without question an excellent teacher. She teaches. She knows her students. She respects their individuality. She brings the lesson to their level. My 10 year old loves to sing a lot more now than when she started 3 months ago.
