I teach flute/piccolo primarily through the tried and true Rubank method. Students will learn how to properly care for the instrument, how to read music, music theory, instrument technique, practice techniques, ear training (how to play by ear), and repertoire. I also employ custom exercises specifically for flute/piccolo to help my students progress the fastest.

About Kyle

Hello potential students! I have a B.A. in instrumental music education and composition. I have taught private lessons for over 12 years. Teaching private music lessons is my primary job, so I have much experience and wisdom compared to teachers who teach "on the side." Students of all ages stay wi

Kyle is a great piano teacher! He is very patient with my 12-year old son. Just yesterday he referred to him as “fun Kyle” because he teaches him small songs on the side that he can show friends and family or are for upcoming holidays. He’s always punctual and respectful of our family and home. I’m grateful to have found him!

I am a passionate musician and educator. I have worked for many years as a private flute instructor on both the modern and baroque flute, gaining experience teaching many age and skill levels. Lessons are tailored to the individual needs and goals of the student, with an emphasis on developing tone, technique, and breathing skills. Students will also be encouraged to think about the music that they play. As a musician, I developed an interest in the field of Historical Performance over the course of my undergraduate degree. In this field, one not only studies the music of past periods, but studies its relevance to the social, political, and cultural circumstances of its time. I believe this puts me in a unique position as a music educator, as I understand the importance of teaching students to connect musical works to their historical contexts. This is a skill that will provide them with a richer understanding of all types of music, including both classical and popular, and give them ...

I sing in a more classic pop/rock style, but I also have a background in opera/musical theater and have been the vocalist of a death metal band for almost a decade. Pretty much anything you want to learn or try, we can figure out a way for you to get there without damaging your voice. I believe in strengthening the voice as a muscle so that it can come through for us consistently and beautifully. Learning how to execute vocal runs strictly by ear without paying attention to proper or safe technique is not my approach. I love tailoring warmups for each of my students so that they can work on problem areas and get to the maximum potential of their range each lesson. I'm interested in YOUR unique voice, but I can also help you emulate singers you admire by teaching you how they attain their sound.

About Rae

Hi! My name is Rae and I've been teaching professionally since moving to Chicago in 2012. I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Professional Music, focusing on Music Education and Performance. For the last two years, I've been teaching drums, piano, and voice at School of Rock

Kwame is a great instructor!! He is knowledgeable about the craft he teaches and is great at explaining things in a comprehensible manner. My daughter is young, and his teaching method provided her with the skills and confidence to learn you how play. She went from not liking to play as much to not being able to stay away from a piano.

"We decided to get our son involved in something that doesn't require a gaming controller and he chose drums. We picked Tom out of the gate and I told my son that if he didn't mesh with him that we could find another instructor. After my son got over his initial shyness and intimidation, he warmed up to Tom and now looks forward to his lesson days. Tom ALWAYS is encouraging and supportive which has helped build my son's confidence and stoke his passion for something other than XBox. He has been flexible with us when needed. I would highly recommend Tom as an instructor."

"Very impressed so far. Toni didn't let on that the exercise was difficult until after. So my daughter flew through the lesson without fear because she's just doing what she loves and not thinking of struggle. Toni has the depth and breadth of musical knowledge but makes it fun and easy breezy. Everything out of her mouth has been exactly what I hoped to hear whether I realized it or not.
