My Spanish lessons are fun and dynamic. The student will learn at their own pace, being always encouraged to improve and perfect pronunciation and structure. My classes include cultural aspects of the language, such as music, cooking, dancing and expressions in order to have a more rounded understanding of the language.

My method is simple: it is tailored to your needs. If you wish to become fluent in the language in a certain amount of time, we develop a plan that is flexible but should achieve your goal in the available time. If all you want is for your child to get better grades, pass a class or other more limited goal, then we develop a simpler plan to achieve that. Learning another language is always achievable and not that difficult. Hope you try, let's learn!

About Leonardo

Doing what I love: teaching, training, interacting with people. I retired from the army after 28 years of active and reserve military service, so now I have time to do privately what I did for the army for so many years: teach and train people. For many years I presented seminars in Spanish and E

Spanish lessons with me are unique because I am a native English speaker who has had a true love for the language since I was young. I was forced to take Spanish my freshman year of high school, and discovered that I loved it. I studied it for fun outside of class and practiced whenever I could. I ended up going on to earn several advanced Spanish credits during college. I understand that language is always evolving and changing; thus, I do my best to keep up with the current trends in the Spanish language and its regional variations.

About Jennifer

I have been dancing in some form or fashion since the age of 3. I did ballet and tap recitals in preschool, took recreational gymnastics and cheerleading classes in elementary school, and did allstar dance and allstar cheerleading in middle school and high school. When I went away to college, I c

"I have always had trouble with Spanish, I have been trying to learn how to speak it for 7 years on and off but I am making huge leaps in this language thanks to Leonardo. Leonardo is excellent at teaching, he will push you to do better and give you practical assignments. Most importantly Leonardo is patient, I mess up all the time and mispronounce words quite often. Leonardo loves to teach and he doesn't keep his eye glued on the clock, He will stay with you until you understand the material. I can tell that he is great at teaching since he has been doing this for a long time. Leonardo can sense when you are bored or stressed and he will switched the exercise and make it enjoyable. The hardest part of his lessons is saying bye at the end, other then that each minute is enjoyable. Take him and you will go far, probably farther then you expected."

"I've been taking online classes with Ana for several months. Ana is my 4th Spanish instructor and by far the best. Ana tailors her lessons to her students' needs and mixes her lessons with fun exercises and Spanish popular culture such as movies, videos, and online articles. Ana is very patient but also holds her students accountable -- to me a great combination when learning a language. I would highly recommend Spanish lessons with Ana."

Davis: More Than Just a City for Cyling!

By Joan B. - TakeLessons Spanish Teacher

‏Davis is culturally and intellectually rich, thanks to its standing as a university town. Since my daughter pursued her Ph.D. there, I often visited Davis, and very much enjoyed attending various Spanish-language and culture-oriented events and gatherings. One of the wonderful things about Davis is its close proximity to other areas and towns such as Woodland, Dixon and Winters, allowing you to take advantage of offerings in all these areas, too‪.‬ The friendliness and cultural diversity of Davis residents, in part due to the university community, will inspire you to participate, share and delight in all that Davis and its surrounding areas have to offer for Spanish-language learners as you take Spanish lessons in Davis.

‏For a fun social outing, you may want to go to a salsa class, and then stay after the lesson to dance salsa. There are many native and non-native Spanish speakers who salsa, and it's an entertaining way to socialize, chat in Spanish and get some enjoyable exercise at the same time! A great place to dance or learn salsa in Davis is The Davis Graduate, a festive bar with salsa nights twice weekly. http://www.davisgrad.com/

‏The Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts is a veritable cornucopia of cultural and artistic performances. For those interested in Hispanic culture, they have previously featured the Ballet Hispánico and the Ballet Folklórico. While their events are always changing, there is usually something related to Hispanic culture being offered, and you can stay up to date by browsing their annual event catalog. http://mondavicenter.ucdavis.edu/

‏The Dixon May Fair, occurring annually every Mother's Day weekend, has a Hispanic Day each year that features a Mariachi band to serenade as you enter the gate, along with Hispanic performers all day long on the stage. It's a not-to-be-missed event for a chance to soak up some beautiful Hispanic performances, mingle with Spanish speakers and have fun. http://www.dixonmayfair.com/

‏The International House in Davis is also brimming with opportunities to practice your Spanish and attend events about the Hispanic world. One of the best features of I-House are the free films shown every first and third Friday. While they feature all kinds of international films, some are from the Hispanic world. They also offer lectures, dance classes (including tango, another artistic treasure from South America) and much more. A wonderful way to make the most of the offerings of the International House is to become a member. You will have access to a great variety of events and also be supporting a worthwhile organization. http://www.internationalhousedavis.org/

‏Another valuable organization is the Taller Arte de Nuevo Amanecer, which is organized through a collaboration of UC Davis and the city of Woodland. Here you can attend artistic performances, lectures, films and poetry and fiction presentations in addition to viewing the several exhibitions they offer per year. Understanding the culture of the Hispanic world will pay dividends in your Spanish language study, as you understand how Spanish speakers think, react to the world around them and view beauty and art. http://tallerartedelnuevoamanecer.com/

‏Davis, although a small city, is not at all lacking in places, events and happenings at which you can enhance your Spanish language skills, deepen your understanding of Hispanic culture and make like-minded friends. As you take Spanish lessons in Davis, I hope you'll take advantage of all that Davis has to offer and sign up for salsa or tango classes, attend an art exhibition or performance at the Mondavi Center - or all of the above!
