I've been playing with classical ensembles and rock bands since 2001. Even though I started on classical trombone and rock guitar, I have come to expand my repertoire to a variety of instruments and genres. During my time in college I performed with the University choir, orchestra, and band. I also have organized, wrote/arranged for, and performed with a variety of bands in my home state of New Mexico, as well as Japan, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

sses in New Mexico high schools to Elementary students in Japan to a variety of private students of various musical instruments and genres everywhere I've been. Since relocating to the Bay Area in 2010, I've had the pleasure of working with lots of great students from kids to adults with a wide range of ambitions. Since 2012 I've been running my own full time studio.
Philosophy of Learning
Lessons are generally designed to work towards giving students the tools to accomplish their goals and become increasingly independent over time. While all students will study similar fundamentals regarding technique, theory, and performance, every lesson is as different as every person. What kind of music do you want to make? I'll tell you what you need to do to get there, and help you take the steps to achieve your aspirations. It's really important to know though that everyone makes their own experience. The process of learning music involves you learning as much about your own mind and body as it does any external concepts, so please keep in mind only you can move yourself forward.
I also love to help students put together a song, record, and produce it for them so that they can have a recording to share with their friends and family.
I also hold events for my students. (Check out our pictures and videos below!) Younger students have opportunities to perform for friends and family at my studio every few months. Adult students also occasionally have events where they get a chance to get together and play music as well.
Aside from in-studio lessons, students also have the option to sign up for online lessons via Skype. (*Online lessons offered during different times than in-studio lessons.)
*Unfortunately due to scheduling issues, I'm not currently accepting students for bi-weekly lessons. I can do regular weekly lessons, or occasional drop-in lessons, but bi-weekly appointments make it really hard for me to give the best scheduled times to my existing weekly students. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Jesse has given directions on how to successfully become a better musician. His approach and explanation on musical theories was much more understandable than what I was previously reading. Overall, I found the lessons to be very usefull.

I am a professional tubist and have been a private instructor for the past 8 years. I can help young students build a strong technical and musical foundation. For more advanced students, I am knowledgeable on repertoire and auditioning strategies.
My teaching focuses on building the basics of playing Brass instruments by creating a collaborative and fun atmosphere for the student. I will focus on the positive aspects of the student's performance and branch out to build their musicianship. I've worked with all types of students before and exert patience and respect for whomever I'm working with.
Brian is an excellent teacher. His tone and clarity is fantastic, which is important as a student to hear for emulation purposes. He has a great handle on music theory and how to fundamentally make good sound, resulting in pleasing to listen to music.

William Combs provides music teaching, performing and arranging services to the community of Lubbock, TX. In 2019, he completed doctorate work at the University of Colorado - Boulder. He completed his bachelor’s degree in music education and performance at Texas Tech University, and his Master’s in trombone performance, and his Performer’s Certificate, at the University of Denver. His extensive resume a wide variety of concerts, clinics, master-classes, performances, and recording sessions; most notably: the TTU Vernacular Music Center, Lubbock Moonlight Musicals, Colorado Wind Ensemble, Denver Municipal Band, Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, and the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Combs has taught all ages of students on trombone, euphonium, tuba, and chamber ensembles for 6 years. He was the brass section leader for the world premiere o
f the full-length theatrical dance show Dancing at the Crossroads and his arrangements have been played by chamber groups throughout northern Colorado.
*** Lesson Details *** My lessons are geared towards a set of goals that are created between the student's wants and my expectations for them to be successful at what the student wants to achieve. For each student, I use a different set of pedagogical tools designed to get them to the goals they want. The main goal I have for all my students is that their fundamentals on their instrument will be at the level that they can complete their goals with ease. Over their time with me, they will have the skills to coach themselves when they practice and tackle any music they come across.

*** Specialties *** I teach and perform both jazz and classical music. Almost any style that uses a trombone or brass instruments, I have performed in and have a strong foundation in.

I am former music major and long time amateur trombonist and was looking for someone to help bring my playing (back) up to the next level. Bill is a stand-up guy. My 11-yr-old beginner daughter is happy with her lessons so far and he interacts with me in a friendly and polite manner. He is respectful of our time and does what he says he's going to do. Can't ask for much more. We are looking forward to a summer of trombone lessons with him.

Teaching is a passion. All my students love what they learn and their progress is my number one concern. I have been teaching since the age of 17. I welcome any student wanting learn the joys of playing brass instruments. I have taught more than 500 students on a private level since I began teaching. I began studying at the age of 9 with a top trumpet professional, David Frick. Man what an experience. If you want to make excelllent progress look no further.

My son has been playing for a year, but didn't have enough one on one interaction to work through the things he had difficulty with. Lessons with Pasquale have been good and he can focus on little things that can make a big difference. Definitely recommend.

Jonathan currently plays and teaches all the orchestral string instruments, guitar, electric bass, and brass instruments. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in trumpet performance from Emory and Henry College and then went on to earn a Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance with a concentration in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. He has performed in many ensembles throughout his career including: the New River Brass Quintet, the Symphony of the Mountains, the Monroe Symphony Orchestra, the Emory and Henry Trumpet Ensemble, the ULM symphony orchestra, the ULM Wind Ensemble, and the ULM Jazz Ensemble as well as performing Handel's Messiah with the Gaston Choral Society and at various other churchs in Charlotte. ss the United States at events such as the International Trumpet Guild Conference. He currently serves as the Albemarle Road Middle School and Crestdale Middle School Director of Strings as well as teaching private lessons in wind and string instruments. Teaching the tuba is a particular passion of mine. I have enjoyed helping students with sound production, technique and developing their musicality. I believe in building a firm foundation with a good tone quality and proper technique. I enjoy helping students reach their potential!
I am a professional trombonist and pianist and have three degrees from the University of Michigan, including a D.M.A. in Trombone Performance. I have taught piano since I was 16 and have accompanied singers and instrumentalists in concerts. For many years, I was a trombonist in the Sarasota Orchestra and previously was Assistant Professor of Trombone at Miami University.
I have started many students on trombone and tuba, as well as piano. Students will find me to be encouraging, yet demanding. I cater to different learning styles and strive to learn how each student learns best.
The concept is simple: empowerment to generate mastery on your instrument. I like to work with you at your level, from beginner and up. My goal is to not only help you understand the mechanics of the instrument, but to empower you to create as limitlessly as possible on it. I will be working with you on things such as rhythm, ear training, embouchre development, breath control, sight reading, understanding musical notation and terminology and beyond through a few of my own and others' techniques.
I have found the best approach to doing this is by selecting music that you like to listen to and play, as it is much more fun to practice something that you enjoy rather than doing busywork to build skill.
Hi, I'm Tyler! Born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico, I am the son of a band director. That being said, I have literally been involved in music since I was an infant! I played trombone, bass trombone, and bass guitar all the way through high school, and went to New Mexico State University where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Music, and then moved to Los Angeles, California, where I received my Master's Degree at California Institute of the Arts, where I also learned to play the other brass instruments, as well as composition and arranging.
Throughout my career, I've been able to do some great things with music. I have been able to travel Europe and work with one of the world's finest brass instrument manufacturers, Michael Rath, I have toured Colombia with my University's Wind Ensemble, I've recorded at Capitol Records in Hollywo
od, and have written and premiered numerous works for orchestra and rock ensemble, trombone choirs, and even a duet for quarter tone trumpets!
I have an affinity for modern and avant garde music, but am well-versed in all genres and musical styles! I also like to play in and record rock and roll bands, I've amassed a quite a few years of recording experience as well. From gypsy bands to thrash metal groups, I've recorded a wide array of music.
I also taught in the classroom from grades k-12 for a few years before following my true passion of teaching privately. I love to reach you at your own level and work to grow with you from there.
My goal is simple: I simply want you to come to love music as much as I do, if not more! I strive to give you the tools to become a successful musician in your own right, and I work to keep my lessons fun and engaging.

I feel like I learned a lot in an hour and he really helped me find an anchor point that I can go back to if I am stuck on a note. I realized that he went over every proven method that I learned throughout my experiences from elementary school to highschool and then added on to them by explaining how these methods help. He even showed me methods usually taught to college musicians.
The reason I always believed in private lessons is because no matter how few or how many you take, the learning process gets expedited immensely.
I definitely would recommend this teacher for learning a brass instrument.
As a tubist for nearly 20 years, and a instructor for 10 years I have a broad range of experiense and knowledge as a teacher and performer. I have experience in classical band and orchestra performance, as well as jazz.
Giustino C., conductor and baritone, is a musician with tenacity and passion. As an avid performer, vocal coach, and conductor he has enjoyed a musical career on multiple continents. His recent engagements include the role of Marcello in La Bohemé, and El Dancaïro in Carmen; he has appeared with Indianapolis Opera, Pensacola Opera, Florentine Opera, Opera Ouvert, and Opera Western Reserve. Mr. C. received his Master’s in performance under the tutelage of Dr. Kathleen Maurer. This Season he will be joining The Belle Ensemble as the role of Uberto in La Serva Padrona, joining the Little Traverse Civic Theatre in The Christmas Schooner, and performing the role of Arasamene in the World Premiere of Serse by Isaac Wittenberg.
As an educator, clinician, and vocal coach he has worked in Chicago, Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Florida, a
s well as toured Europe with the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Youth Choir. He is an active member in the National Association of Teachers of Singing(NATS), and a regular adjudicator in the Great Lakes Region.
