Music is in my blood. I come from a long line of musicians, singers and dancers. I have been singing and playing music since I was 3 years old, and I have been performing and teaching music for over 15 years. My first love is Gospel Music, Pop, R&B, and classical music, but I have grown to love countless genres, styles and cultures of music. I am very personable and like to get to know my students interests and build from there! I Cant wait to meet you!

I’m Jacob, a Juilliard-educated baritone singing and teaching around the world. I currently offer remote lessons from my home studio outside Washington, DC. I teach consistent, confident technique in any style—classical to contemporary—and welcome students of all skill levels and backgrounds. My only expectations are clear communication, dedication, and a commitment to vocal happiness and health.

I hold degrees in music from the Juilliard School (‘18) and Brown University (‘13). As a performer, I sang the 2019-20 season in Strasbourg, France, following my European début in Salzburg, Austria. I’ve sung in major houses including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu, and the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse.

I teach music from a holistic perspective. My approach marries theory, musicianship, and technique with the emotional engagement and storytelling qualities inherent to good, evocative music. Lessons are created and curated for you, your specific goals, and learning preferences. My students learn not only how to make music but how to understand it. I try to make lessons fun and engaging for students of all ages (5+) and abilities (brand new - advanced).

I have performed at Carnegie Hall and alongside great jazz musicians such as Dave Douglas, Wayne Bergeron, Donny McCaslin, Randy Brecker, Ada Rovatti, Charlie Shoemake, and Grammy Award winner Louie Ortega. Born and raised in San Luis Obispo, CA, my studies at Cuesta College, Cal Poly, and the Central Coast Jazz Institute have helped me become an active and versatile working
