I LOVE teaching Broadway songs ! They are always fun to sing at every level. It's best for beginners to start with a song that is not too difficult at first so your voice won't be strained in any way. It's good to find songs that are a bit more challenging for intermediates and then advanced students are ready for sustaining long tones in the higher registers, as well as phrasing long passages. As your teacher, it's my job to find material that is best suited for your vocal range and your development. We will always discuss your songs together and find songs you want to learn and those you will love to perform!!

About Dr. Jeanne
*Hi and welcome!!

My students like to call me Dr. Jeanne, so feel free to do the same! I have been in music all my life and I love helping my students no matter what level they may be.from beginning to advanced. I studied music at Stephens College in Columbia, MO and the University of California in music andI have since taught hundreds of voice and piano students everything I know about music and performance. Piano is a joy to teach, but my greatest love is teaching voice .I specialize in all styles of music as long as I feel it is musical, developmental and expressive.. Music takes time and discipline to master and I'm looking forward t
o meeting you and hearing all about your goals and dreams in music and how I can help you along your path.

My pre-teen and teen students are singing and have sung leading roles in musical theater production at Harris Center, Elk Grove and Music Circus. In addition to the basics of how to produce a strong singing tone using belt, mixed and legit (head) voices, you will learn how to sing musically with meaning and drama. You will learn the key elements of various styles, including traditional, jazz, swing, pop, rock and folk style and how to incorporate them into your singing. I'll work with you to develop the strong chest, mixed and head voice, the abilities to sing loud and soft and to modulate from bright to mellow that you will need. To help you accomplish this, I will help you become very familiar with your physical instrument - how it functions and how to make it work safely, reliably and with good results.

I will help you understand and hear the underlying harmonic structure of your songs and how to sing with a variety of accompaniments, including karaoke, live piano ...

About JoAnn
Your lessons are designed to help you develop the skills and confidence you need to successfully perform in public. I work hard to prepare your lessons and I ask my students to invest daily time working on skills studied at their lessons. Performing music requires the patient integration of multiple skills over time, however, the rewards are BIG.

During your lessons you will receive instruction in skills needed to sing or play the cello as well as musical skills including rhythm, melody, harmony and style. Because there is a lot to learn, I encourage you to consider 45 or 60 minute lessons, which I offer at substantially reduced rates to make them more affordable for you.

I continually update my teaching methods by attending workshops and master classes and I incorporate my knowledge of human anatomy and function, to help you
perform with minimal strain. Also, I incorporate internet resources in your lessons to keep them interesting and up to date.

What will your lessons be like?
At your first lesson we will explore and name the parts of your instrument (voice or cello). We'll talk about what you would like to learn, set attainable goals and select songs that you will be successful learning.

In subsequent lessons you will warm up with scales and exercises, using common intervals with basic rhythms to improve your technical abilities and gain musical skills and knowledge, such as hearing pitches and intervals and keeping with the beat. This will also help you learn to read music.

Singers will learn to use breathing to coordinate with your vocal folds to make a beautiful tone and sing on pitch, relax your throat and tongue to create resonant chambers, shape your mouth and tongue to color the tone, and use your tongue and lips to form the words.

Cellists will learn to transfer your body weight into your cello to produce a mellow tone, placing your hands and arms on the cello and bow in a relaxed and balanced manner to allow you to play smoothly and in tune and to prepare you to produce a lovely vibrato. Since cellos don't have frets, you will also learn to locate each note on the cello but just a few notes at a time - until you know them all.

You will learn to use your technical skills and knowledge to create musical phrases that sound beautiful and authentic and are fun to perform and listen to. You will need to practice simple skills and phrases repeatedly until they become habit. I will lend you my kind and patient support to help you through the bumps in the road.

Not sure how to practice at home?
To support your practice at home you will: Receive a recording of each of your lessons to practice with; Learn simple exercises you can do at home; Learn to create and use simple backup tracks of your songs to learn to hear rhythm and harmony; Learn how to use your computer at home to get feedback for pitch, and tone quality.

Nervous about performing?
When you are comfortable I will provide opportunities to perform in student programs performing for friends and families.

You will have opportunities to participate and perform in workshops which include performance opportunities, lectures, demonstrations and Master Classes with nationally recognized teachers and performers.

Want to sing that Broadway tune but just can't get that note to sound like the pro? Do you have an audition or performance coming up for a competition, scholarship, school, etc? I specialize in helping you find your voice and gain access to parts of your voice you may not even know you have yet. Come here to learn how to make the difference between all of the different qualities your voice is capable of. Let me help you find and improve your voice!

About Kimberly
I grew up in a household of 9 where music was always center stage. We would sing as a family in different venues and were often called the VonTrapp family. I have enjoyed singing and performing from a young age. I began studying flute at age 8, after scoring highest in the harmony listening exam and began formal violin lessons at the age of 9. I studied all genres including, fiddle, classical, musical theater and 20th century. I have continued to study violin since then and have performed in many orchestras and small groups, such as Honor Orchestra, the Paradise Symphony, the Yuba College Orchestra, Yuba-Sutter Oratorio Society Orchestra and more. I have been concert master and first stand in many of these. I have also soloed in many and have been the first violinist in quartets for countless weddings and other events. I have also played
in numerous pit orchestras for musicals.
I have been in choirs and soloing since I can remember. I have performed and soloed in choirs such as the Yuba-Sutter Oratorio Society, CSUS Chamber Choir, the CSUS Women's Choir and more. I have toured to Victoria, Montreal, Ottowa, Oregon and Washington. I have also been in opera productions such as The Magic Flute, Peleas and Melisande and Die Fledermaus (The Bat) with CSUS Opera. I am a recent recipient of the Saturday Club Scholarship, a prestigious award, and have won many competitions (some repeatedly) both vocally and with violin, such as the Tri-County Competition, Young Artist Competitions, and the California Soloist and Ensemble Competitions. Additionally, I have performed musical theater repertoire and have performed as lead in musicals such as Beauty and the Beast and Into the Woods. I have also soloed repeatedly with the Yuba College jazz band and at churches all around.
I have earned my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from CSU Sacramento. I have my Associates Degrees in both Music and Early Childhood Education from Yuba College. Additionally, I have obtained my certificate of completion of training from Music Together, an organization which trains teachers to teach Basic Music Competence (both in tonality and meter), and am currently teaching this curriculum.
I have been teaching music privately for over ten years to all ages, genders and abilities. Additionally, I have taught ages 0-5 years in a preschool setting for 7 years and am extremely familiar with developmentally appropriate practices for both preschool and school age, as I am a site supervisor at a child development center with a preschool and after school program. I have had many adult students as well and encourage adults to enrich their lives with music at any age! Additionally, I have experience teaching parent child classes and am familiar with how to teach to the particular needs of each family and student.
I'm extremely excited and looking forward to growing as a professional, both teaching and performing, in both the areas of violin and voice and to be instrumental in your musical growth too; I can't wait to share my passion with you and to ignite your passion for music too!

*** Lesson Details ***
I have been teaching since 2002 and have loved every minute of it! I teach all ages. I tailor my style of teaching to each student's goals and to what works for you. If you want to learn Taylor Swift music, I won't be giving you arias. On the other hand, if you wish to study classically, I have repertoire appropriate for you. I teach fiddle, classical, orchestral, 20th century and more for violin students and have experience with jazz, classical, musical theater, pop, religious, spiritual, choral, 20th century and more vocally.
For violin students, I use the Suzuki method as a pushing off point, a tried and true method used in many countries across the world, though I have other repertoire including fiddle, orchestra, small ensemble, solo, concertos, Christmas, and more. For vocalist, I start with the book, Adventures in Singing. I also have warm ups and exercises to keep you vocally healthy. I will teach you anything you want to learn! I also teach how to read music, theory and harmony, depending on your interest and tailored to your current skill level.
I am encouraging and knowledgeable. I will meet you at your current level, be that beginner, intermediate, or advanced. My students can look forward to being encouraged and growing through their time with me. I don't have preset ideas about where you should be in 3-6 months, nor do I have a one size fits all teaching style. Instead, I will work with you individually so that you will become the best musician you can be, meet your goals, and increase your enjoyment and appreciation for music.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in open space, upright piano, digital piano, music stands, metronome, violins available for rent, music, staff paper and computer

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect my students to provide the instrument with all of it's accessories (ie shoulder rest, rosin, bow and case) along with the appropriate level Suzuki book. I have instruments available for rent. My voice students should bring their own music also. I have a piano in my studio along with music stands. Of course, every student must have a pencil and come ready to have fun learning! :)

*** Specialties ***
Suzuki, solfege, art songs and arias, reading music, fiddle, classical, healthy vocal technique and musical theater. I am very good at working with any age.

Kim can teach you or your child, no matter where you are!

I was 30 when I decided to rekindle my love for the violin. I hadn’t played since before YouTube was invented, and I was skeptical about learning violin online. By the first lesson, Kim had already corrected poor habits I didn’t know I had, just after hearing me play a few scales. She adjusted her teaching style to my personality so seamlessly that I felt I was just getting pointers from a dear violinist friend whose advice is always spot-on. Weekly practice never felt like work, because Kim tailored my assignments to my goals. Before I knew it, I was playing complex concertos I could never do in high school. I started out being able to play just one major scale. Within 10 months, I was in Suzuki Book 4!
I can’t say enough about Kim’s expert teaching skills. During a sight-reading of a very difficult piece, I became so frustrated that I wanted to stop the lesson and try again later. Kim encouraged me until I had gotten all the way through, and pointed out what I could learn from my performance. When I had time to calm down, I realized that Kim can do this for any student; adults, children, and adults whose inner child throws a tantrum when they’re frustrated by a musical challenge. :-)

Teachers like Kim are rare, and worth their weight in gold. I learned so much more than violin fundamentals through my lessons with her. I’m convinced Kim can teach anyone, of any age—even through an online platform.

Thank you, Melissa, for working with my grand daughter with singing lessons. She has enjoyed her classes and has learned a great deal about how to use and project her voice. She learned how to warm up her vocal chords prior to signing and also she learned about the diction and pronunciation of her words.

So far so good. We started simple and I look forward to seeing what comes out in future sessions. I already have a few things to think about and practice at home, she seems very insightful so far and it's pretty cool that she can pick out by ear what note your on and what not. I just wish I could afford the longer sessions.

I am passionate about cultivating the "total package performer". I will help students build a solid foundation of music theory, sight reading, technique, and most importantly ear training while tailoring to your unique style and goals. Most importantly, part of my lesson plan includes allowing the student to discover their unique voice, be confident in performing, and most importantly enjoying every lesson performance.

About Gellimy
I am currently a senior at the Sacramento State School of Music (California State University of Sacramento) studying Jazz Voice Studies. I am a professional singer, piano player, and music director.

I love singing jazz, pop, musical theatre, broadway, CCM and RnB, but I can teach any student any style and I believe that great technique is essential to any and every style. Besides improving in vocal technique, building up confidence is the most important aspect of a performer's education. I am readily equipped to help you expand your range, strengthen your instrument and build your repertoire.

I also teach beginning piano and music theory. I can teach students to read with musical excellence, learn how to play and read contemporary music using chord sheets, or both depending on the goals and preference of the student.

I have a
great passion to teach music and my goal in life is to cultivate a culture of authentic beauty through the arts.

Hello! Are you ready to be inspired, guided and free yourself through singing? Teaching for 20 years, performing and writing music (Christina Aguilera). Music has long been a part of my life, through performing onstage, studio session work, voice acting and teaching all the crucial elements to get the best voice out of yourself. From children to adults, my students have excelled in their own world and goals. Along with all the essential elements of vocal building and style technique, I go beyond traditional teachers, offering experiences in recording studios, onstage performance, developing confidence, challenging your abilities and deeply intricate details of discovering your singing voice within you. From beginners to advanced I love you all! I teach all genres, audition prep, music theory, ear training, performance and freedom from fears of singing. Did I mention fun?

About Maria
Hello there! I'm not one to make laboriously long bios on myself, so I will keep this short and sweet. I have been a vocal coach for 20 years now, in the business for over 30 years as a singer, songwriter (such as Christina Aguilera), owner of a band entertainment business.
Studied music in Fullerton College, and privately studied voice for years through the Seth Riggs method, (industry acclaimed teacher to the stars) and Judy Davis, (a treasured teacher of students such as Barbara Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett to various other artists). Performed onstage and in studio sessions.

My career evolved into sharing my love of singing into teaching, which I just love!!!
I go beyond the traditional limitations of teaching. While teaching all the essential elements of voice, I combine every bit of my education, street sense, experience
s, failures and successes and my own methods of challenging you. I take my students deeper into finding their unique voice, abilities, and confidence, breaking songs down to a science, audition prep, music theory, songwriting basics, trips to record at top notch recording studios, onstage work, and many more aspects that one needs to know to be their absolute best. I focus in on each student, so no lesson is ever the same cookie cutter format. Each student is as unique as their voice.

As for me I'm a fun teacher, we will laugh, learn together as you grow your voice into you! Hope to see you soon!
