I want students to excel the fastest they can on guitar. Though I know it is important to let students learn at their own pace, I will never cease to challenge them through difficult pieces or exercises. I will develop plans and keep track of progress so that students and I can stay organized and ensure the learning is fluent. I will direct lessons based on what the student wants to learn most and what genres of music they are interested in. I also change the structure of lessons based on how the student learns. The basics I want students to learn from my lessons are basic chords, fretboard knowledge and music theory, finger-picking styles, pick and strumming techniques, left-hand techniques, and most importantly I want to teach students how to listen. I will train students ears through ear training exercises and songs. I firmly believe the better the student’s ears can get, the better the musician they can be. Besides just teaching songs, I want students to understand the theory, ...

Flamenco guitar lessons with Raphael are unique because he grew up, and studied in Spain. And knows all the secrets that you can only learn by living, and working with some of the best Flamenco artists of today. He can teach you how to accompany singing, and how to accompany dancers. As well as teaching full solo pieces. He has been playing guitar for over 25 years, and has toured the world. As well as playing in the opening ceremonies in Barcelona for the 1992 Olympics. He has worked artists such as El Farruquito, El Toromb, and El Manzanita. Just to mention a few. Raphael also speaks Spanish, German, and English. And is a very patient teacher, and gives great attention to detail.
About raphael
Hi! My name is Raphael, and I am a Flamenco guitarist. I've been playing for over 25 years, and lived in Spain for over 10 years. I have had the pleasure of traveling the world playing guitar and working with some of the best Flamenco artists from Spain, as well as here in the U.S. I am a full ti

1. He is extremely patient - but at the same time points out when you are not in compas. If you have played flamenco before you know how important it is to get that correct - and he holds you accountable to the compas which is very helpful.
2. He intermixes exercises and falsetas in a helpful way. My fear with flamenco is that I wind up with a lot of falsetas that I can't really play right. Raphael is not afraid of giving you some exercises to grind on to get your techniques and timing up to par.
3. He is well connected in the NY flamenco world so you know what is happening and can hear a lot of flamenco out in the city.
My experience has been delightful. If you are looking to learn flamenco guitar and want to sound authentic and in compas- I would recommend Raphael unreservedly. Also he is a great guy to spend time with which is always a plus!
Don't miss the opportunity to work with him!

Tim is a phenomenal instructor! I have tried expensive videos by Marty Schwartz, subscription services like JamPlay.com, and have spent hundreds of dollars on Skype lessons with popular YouTube instructors like Mike Gross. In the year that I have been playing, one month of lessons with Tim did more for my playing than 11 months with the other methods I've tried. You owe it to yourself to give Tim a month of your time. He transformed my understanding of the guitar, has taught me to be self-sufficient with learning songs I hear, and has made playing exciting. Without being able to articulate exactly what I wanted to accomplish, Tim's uncanny intuition for balancing what I think I needed with what I really need took my playing to the next level very quickly. Nothing can substitute the depth of his musical knowledge, but more importantly, his keen sense of feeding me just what I need from everything he knows. Tim carefully plans out a lesson for me based off of my progress, has me take notes, and gives me ideas on how to improve before my next lesson. The most exciting day of my week is the hour I spend learning from a great instructor and a great human being. I couldn't be happier with my decision to learn how to play from Tim."
