I understand it's easy to lose drive when you're constantly drilling scales and fingering. I try to frame all of my lessons in reference to what music really is: the creation of songs. Through composition, my students won't just learn scale and chord structure, but they'll organically develop these skills while writing their own songs and building their personal portfolio.
About Peter
Over the past 10 years, I've worked as a professional touring musician (singer, guitarist, pianist) for the rock band, Inside Switch. I studied piano at the Dallas, Texas School of Music. I also attended the James Madison University music program. I have played piano for 20 years and guitar for 15.

- THE METRONOME IS SO IMPORTANT
- The voice guides the guitar if you’re more of a singer
- Repetition is key
- Practice songs that aren’t in your style to ease your way into guitar
- The power resides in strumming rhythmically
- Focus is more difficult that it seems when combining singing and guitar
- Guitar is an art in itself and itself you shouldn’t master guitar, you should be it’s friend.
- Open mics and video content are the key to more success as they expose you to criticism (good or bad)
Again, the guitar is your companion.
For any aspiring musician or any musician that needs guidance and improvement on the guitar, Peter is a great teacher.

I have developed a standardized, systematic approach to guitar instruction based on the belt system used by traditional martial arts. As students progress through the ranks, they are awarded different color “belts”. Beginners are white belts. The next level is yellow belt. Orange is next followed by red, purple, blue, and finally a black belt! I use pre existing text books so that the learning material is organized and easily accessible. I have had great success with my methods and my system makes the learning a lot more fun. I can also customize lessons for intermediate to advanced students who need to focus on certain key areas and can also prepare students for college entrance auditions. Group classes are available in special subject such as theory, note reading and advanced harmonic and melodic concepts. I am an energetic and enthusiastic instructor who insures that students enjoy their learning experience while being able to gauge their progress toward their personal musical ...
About Billy
Most of what I do as an instructor stems from my frustration as a student. I am convinced that the way I was taught to play music on the guitar is NOT the best way to learn it. I have spent a great deal of time developing my own methodology and feel as though I have a much better way to convey info

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

In the end I took about 2+ years of classes with Kimberly, one class per week. Further, that was about three years ago. Whereas the only reason I stopped was I moved from the area. I know I could have continued with Skype or some other remote technology. I keep thinking I will. As the complications of life continue to get in the way.
The real story is with Kimberly skill, attention and personable nature, my guitar playing advanced more under her ‘wings’ then at any other time. Thank you Kimberly!"

Highly recommend lessons with Steve.

I don't know how Eric Jayk did it. He turned my hand of thumbs into strumming fingers. Basically Eric is a professional yet humble lesson giver. He shows great interest in his students progress. I'm glad I chose Takelessons and I'm glad Takelessons has Eric Jayk. He Rocks!!!"
I started guitar lessons with Aaron when I was 11 years old and stayed his student till I was 17!!! He has taught me so much about guitar and how to play! We would work on cover songs and a little bit about music theory. He kept the learning fun and not boring with the music theory, since I was young. He showed me the fun, musical side to playing and learning songs. But see, thats what was cool about it. Now that I'm 19 and in college studying music, I think back, if it wasn't for Aaron and the way he taught me; I might not be that into learning more about music. As I got older I started to see the puzzle pieces of music come together. There is a whole structure to writing songs and music and Aaron knew, that for me, the best way to learn was to start with songs and let my own curiosity about music be my drive and determination to learn more about it and how to write it!!! Aaron and I have stayed close friends over the years. He is still really helpful to this day because not to long ago i called him up and asked for some advice on music colleges as well as some good music books to learn from. Thats what is so cool about Aaron, he will always help his students out in the best way he can! :)"

The use of a slide is an interesting concept on the modern steel-string guitar. The ability to use a hard object around one’s finger, such as a broken glass bottle neck, sounds bizarre to a player who has never heard of this technique before. Slide guitar is commonly heard in blues music and it involves pressing an object into the strings to create glissandos (slides) and vibrato to emulate a human voice. In this article we will discuss the origins and playing style of this unique technique, …
