Fingerpicking is one of my favorite styles of guitar to play! Whether you want to learn the most advanced techniques or are just starting out and want to get down the basics, I'd be more than happy to help you achieve your goals.

After the first lesson, you will understand the essentials of bluegrass guitar and be playing bluegrass! Bluegrass guitar playing requires a knowledge of chords, melody, licks, flatpicking/picking technique as well as knowing songs all of which we will start learning in your first lesson.

With 10+ years as a music teacher and professional musician I have picked up many approaches that will insure you are making the most progress and truly finding your musical voice.

Bluegrass has progressed beyond guitar for me and has now moved into mandolin and banjo studies. There are so many cool licks and sounds!

After 20 years of playing and a BA in Music, I know how to break down the guitar and teach it to anyone willing to learn. I take the 80/20 approach to learning guitar and will get you up and playing in no time. My passions are technique and accuracy; by perfecting technique comes a deeper understanding of theory. I have lots of teaching methods that will encourage you to play your favorite songs and styles with the sounds you like.
I'll focus on the very basics of guitar theory in order to get to a higher level of understanding music theory.
I will challenge you! We will have lots of fun and you will see, hear, and feel your own improvements with my teachings.

What music do you want to learn? Over the last fifteen years I have been teaching students that you are in control of your lesson. I am able to create lesson plans that develop both right and left hand attributes of stamina, dexterity, finesse, and groove all the while learning any song you really enjoy. Lessons are conducted in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere that focuses on providing all the tips and tricks for great performance.

Guitar lessons with me are unique because although I am young, I am a very experienced teacher already. I started learning guitar at 10 years old. By the time I was 16 I was gigging and teaching kids in my neighborhood and any Craigslist clients I could find. At 18, I took a 1.5 year program at the Los Angeles College of Music, where I graduated with an AA in guitar performance. Since then I have worked as a professional musician, and also as a teacher /consultant with Adopt the Arts, a non profit started by Matt Sorum (drummer of Guns N Roses, Hollywood Vampires) and director Abby Berman. In my time at Adopt the Arts I have amassed over 4000 teaching hours of teaching kids ages 4-13, so I am very experienced with kids and get along with them great since. I have also been giving other private lessons to people of all ages since 2011.
